    Good demonstration but I thought that at the end the hair would look better if the back was cut to bluntly, to the same length as the layers cut before (to get rid of the stringy look, especially in finer hair). Of course my opinion but Thank you for the straight forward demo.

    I was going to cut my wife's hair into layers, and we found your video. She has very thick hair, but doesn't want it to come to a point in the back. Is there any way to still do the longer layers on the sides and then more straight across in the back? We live on our boat, and I usually just cut it straight across. Thanks!

    • @byninaloustos9024
      @byninaloustos9024 2 роки тому +5

      Hey Captain Stu,
      Try this out if I explain it enough for you to understand.
      Do your usual straight across trim. Then take like half a moon circle at the crown, brush it up 90 degrees from the scalp, where you want those layers to end is where you’ll point cut into it. So hold it up, run your fingers up the hair, stop where you think might be a nice length and without letting go bring your hand back down to see where that hair will stop. If that’s short/long enough of a layer then point cut into it. Be careful not to snip yourself. Then take another half moon section on the side of hair and include a piece that you cut previously to use as your guide and repeat. Do the same on the other side. When you take your half moon section on the side, leave out the fringe area. So your half moon will start like 2-3cm back from her hair line.
      If you want more layers you can do the same sort of thing but underneath that section you would of taken at the crown and make sure that underneath section layer is left longer then the crown section layer and the same with your side pieces. Point cut it because it blends a lot nicer so if you make any mistakes it won’t be too noticeable.
      Just don’t make it too short first time around. Play around. Take off like a couple centimetres of hair first until you feel comfortable and you understand it a bit better and know what you’re both after. Taking off a couple of centimetres won’t make much of a difference but it’ll definitely help you understand what you’re trying to do a lot better to achieve a better cut for her.
      Hope this helps!

    I was always told not cut long layers this way because it thins out the bottom too much. Well, I did anyway and never had a single complaint. The only thing I didn’t like was that it looked like a tail at the center nape. I would have evened it off more. However if the client wants the back cut in a “V”, then I suppose it works. 😁

    I love that haircut a lot. But I would prefer this on more dense hair. The lower ends at the back got really see through which definitely can be a look but I personally would prefer more density within the ends so I would've cut off several inches at the back. It's all personal preference though. The haircut itself still is very beautiful imho.

    • @Hairmani
      @Hairmani  2 роки тому +1

      Exactly it’s all personal preference, some people will like that look and some prefer to cut few inches in the back to give it more density look hair it like makeup you can play with it as you like and what image you want to appear and represent but all are beautiful. Because we all have different taste which make beauty more interesting. And thanks for your comment 🙏

    Does this differ much from the V shaped layers? Also would it be rude to show a video like this to a sylist to tell them this is what I want done, since words and pictures never seem to work for me.

    • @jessicalessard4415
      @jessicalessard4415 3 роки тому +1

      It is pretty similar, they just don't use the same technique. My opinion is if a good hairstylist wants to make his/her clients happy they will be open to listen. Since hairdressers are usually very busy, ask for a pre consultation before booking and show her/him this. I would try to explain why you want the hairstylist to watch the video and if they don't want to, then don't book an appointment. I personally wouldn't be offended, but some people can be prideful.

    If you over direct hair forward, following the baseline front section cut, pulling each section forward front to back, will it create longer layers at the back? I am trying to do a modern Middy retro cut. If you over direct this way, will it create a horseshoe shape at the back?
