- HERE YOU WILL SEE THE FREEPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT, ALONG WITH AREA MUTUAL AID FIRE DEPARTMENTS, OPERATING AT A 3RD ALARM FIRE IN A 2 STORY COMMERCIAL BUILDING ON GUY LOMBARDO AVENUE IN FREEPORT, LONG ISLAND.

Great coverage from start to finish JJ. Volunteer firemen did a great job. I saw a security camera on the building to the right, should obtain some good info on this fire and explosion.

This is not what I pictured when I heard Long Island, NY. I understand it sounds almost stereotypical to hear "New York" and think you're going to see FDNY units on the scene instead. This is an awesome new experience and side of NY I've never seen.

@@LCERRP Yeah... Merrick has three companies, Empire, Friendship, and Merrick hook and ladder. They needed more than one company in case one of them could not cross the tracks. North Merrick always had one big house with all of the squads there. I was from North Merrick.

Good to see that they learned from the FDNY on how to utilize that bucket.
Most Long Island departments have a handful of FDNY guys in them so a lot of techniques used by the FDNY are used on the island. The island is like the FDNYs little brother when it comes to aggressive firefighting.
