It was great in the first few series but once they took away the audience, changed the camera quality, and the script got all too tired, it lost the spark that it had in the beginning. That being said, it was still seriously funny, I'd like to have my memory of it wiped so I could watch it all again - but then again I'm not de-ad like Rimmer
Whenever my wife and I go shopping, she often ask if we want "small off-duty Czechoslovakian traffic warden" the shop workers and other people close by instantly get it and begin to laugh.
Or they think "here comes those crazy people again, best to just chuckle and nod". But seriously, that's great. Nobody around where I live knows Red Dwarf, but to the people I've shown it to, they all like it. Cheers
And since the show aired Czechosolvakia does not exist any more so where did all the traffic wardens go? The joke about the Bolivian navy is up there with the Austrian navy officer in The Sound of Music.
@@patrickhannon7900 Captain von Trapp was a *retired* Austrian Naval Officer. Up until the end of the First World War, the Austro-Hungarian empire had a coastline and did indeed have a navy. Under the Treaty of Versailles, the Empire was broken up, Austria no longer had either a coastline or a Navy and Von Trapp was forced to retire.
0:17 It's like Kryten has a Limiter in his head that stops him from lying. A 'Limiter' was a brain implant from Blake's 7, which the character Olag Gan had which stopped him from killing people.
I still say the bit in Future Echoes where Lister is losing his mind trying to talk to Rimmer's echo saying his half of the conversation they haven't had yet. There's a great split screen version that shows both scenes with Rimmer's dialogue happening simultaneously. Chris Barrie did an INCREDIBLE job repeating his performance, it's a near-perfect duplication.
I hated on the streaming site UKTV Play that they cut out a lot of red dwarf such as the scene I don’t understand why possibly it was offensive as today a lot of people are snowflakes
you can remove your viewing on your history...always been that way on this streaming platform...when your carer comes to give you your next bottle and nappy change mayhaps they can help you...
i like that his programming kicks back in when somebody else is introduced to the conversation who may be legitimately misinformed by the lie.
I rather think that he is deceiving
Red Dwarf was the best show! So well written and so quotable.

You could say it was... Schmeggen?
I'm sad that this clip stopped before Lister's speech---about the only unironic, unparodic speech I've ever heard _praising_ the morals of lying.
Gotta Love How Supportive Cat Is
When he wants to be lol
"You two should audition for 'What's My Fruit?'" 🤣😂
So glad the BBC have finally acknowledged Red Dwarf again after so, so long.
“Kryten, man, you can do it!”
“No I can’t!”
“Yes, you…WHOA, nice one!”
Loved watching Red Dwarf late at night. British humor gets me every time. Live in the USA.
And Australia - loved it :)
it is english humour carol...not scottish, not welsh but english...britain is an island, the humans are not...
You have good taste, my overseas friend
Czech here: in Czech dub, it's a Tasmanian Traffic warden 😉
Yeah but is he off duty?
@@ajax201000 Actually, the traffic warden is a police officer off duty and the apple is his assistant
amazing. Love to you from tasmania
Nice.. I was trying to remember if that's what it was lol
Top scene from season 4. My humor and style. Watched this show since I was a child.
Ironically in 2023 we are trying to teach AI how to *stop* lying. 😂

The timing of this. Someone in BBC socials has a sense of humour 😅.

An absolute classic.
You taught him that... sarcasm level 11 :)
Suit is so convincing it's easy to forget Bobby L is under there - a human actor trained to lie and not Kryten the programmed robot after all.
The Bolivian nayy on manoeuvres in the South Pacific.
Apart from everything else, Bolivia is a landlocked country...
Which makes it an even better lie.
And since the show aired Czechosolvakia does not exist any more so where did all the traffic wardens go? The joke about the Bolivian navy is up there with the Austrian navy officer in The Sound of Music.
@@patrickhannon7900 Well the traffic wardens would either be Czech or Slovak now.

Early possibly the first example of jailbreaking prompting.
“You taught him that?” Ahahhaha
Absolutely loved this show
I love this part of Red Dwarf.
Red Dwarf is a superb cornerstone for the sci-fi sitcom universe. 👍🏻
I always loved this part.
Happy Birthday, Craig! :)
I was a contestant on “What’s My Fruit?” I won a banana.
No, you won a female aardvark. 😉

It's a banana.
Definitely top three RD scenes ever

I like how every character is somehow out of place but perfect at the same time

How to learn about being transgender
...and today we have to learn to say that men in dresses are women.
I was just coming to see if anybody had already commented on this irony.
Gender identity and gender presentation is not the same thing. For example, Mark Bryan is not a transgender woman.
