thank you for this video! my macbook accidentally spilled with water and its caused water damage, i gotta dissemble the parts to clean up the logic board. my macbook now working like normal again! 🥺
Glad I could help!
What and how a logic board can be cleaned up? Can you please help? I have replace the keyboard after a coffee spill on my 2010 MacBook Pro successfully, but I am still facing other operating issues. The laptop randomly crashes. I used a patch that forces the MacBook to use Integrated Graphics card all the time. Still the laptop crashes often and UA-cam is acting weird lately. Not able to complete any work with the laptop crashing randomly.
@@mjshaheed you can clean up the logic board using the isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush. I guess your macbook randomly crash because there are some coffee residue left on your logic board. You need to dissamble your macbook exactly like this video and clean up the residue. Hope this help!
@@nuruladibah4686 Thank you for replying. I will see if I can get the solution you have mentioned and will give it a try.
Thanks. Graphics going haywire on my laptop. Definitely going to need to do this. Probably time to upgrade the hard drive and optical at the same time too. Had a 500gig SSD for as long as I can remember, maybe 2012, and it's finally slowing down.
Re-wipe and you should be good to go, just back up onto an external.
Super easy to follow. Thank you
I notice you said that when replacing the logic board will not need to reinstall OS. But what if the mother board was upgraded. Going from 2.66Ghz processor to a 2.8 will this create an issue ?
Can I put a logicboard from a 2011 Macbook 15‘‘ in my 2010 MacBook 15‘‘?
Did I miss something, or did you forget to plug in the microphone connector between the logic board and the unibody? It was the last thing you unplugged before lifting out the board, but I didn't see you plug it back in when you installed the board. Just FYI
Could have been cut in editing, over 300 videos shot, over 7 minute average video from hour+ of footage.
this channel is amazing Just saying
Thanks for the props!!!
Keyboard ribbon is giving me hell any suggestions? To secure it in place mine don’t have that extra stickers like yours
Ihave mbp 2011 and damged due to gpu issue. And planning to replace with 2010 logic board. Is it match and no issue? Thanks
Not sure if you can answer this but here goes. I have a mid-2010 15 inch MBP that has the "kernel panic" issue that causes it to reboot randomly. I've seen 2 different methods for fixing this. 1 is to replace the logic board like you did in the video. That is something I can do. The other is to replace the C9560 Tantalum Capacitor on the board with a different type of capacitor. That I probably can't do. What has been your experience? If I replace the board with another board that has that same tantalum capacitor, will the problem come back again or will I be good to go? Thanks.
Did you watch this video? www.appledollars.com/random-crash-repair a new version of GFX switcher is available that works on High Sierra, I've confirmed it myself.
Oh nice. I plan to swap out my HDD for a SSD and do a clean install of High Sierra. I've already created my bootable USB. The GFX switcher will definitely be of help. Thank you.
No problem.
Thanks man! :)
dang my mac boots up to a flashing questionmark folder after this tutorial. any advice?
Hard drive not connected. Check and reseat the cable.
I don't have the tri wing screwdriver to remove the battery, is it necessary?
It is necessary, with any other tool you will strip the screw.
A source for the triangular tip drivers is (search online for) "Macbook Pro repair tools". E.g. the "25 In 1 Torx Screwdriver Repair Tool Set For IPhone Cellphone Tablet PC" is excellent, and is an excellent buy currently on sale at selected stores for $6.96. It appears that this is the set he is using in the vid.
Why do you think they bothered to show you the part #. It sounds to me like you havent been into the back of that thing and triedall the lesser fixes, like unplug the battery for 30 secs, etc etc. Its a nitemare.
great channel. what is the best way to clean a logic board? 99% alcohol and some q tips?
No q tips, they just make a mess. Use a toothbrush and 99% alcohol.
Take a windex like spray bottle and fill it up with 99.9% alcohol, then over your bathroom sink wet the entire board, then scrub it down with the toothbrush and sit it next to a warm source like a heater for 1 hour. Note that alcohol dissipates water but can be hard to dry in cracks, give it 1 hour near a drying source.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" 5.4 and it only has one fan. Is it pretty much the same?
Yes, you have a 2009 model it should be relatively close.
not sure is someone already asked this, but after replacing the motherboard will I need to re-install the a clean OS?
You will not need to reinstall the operating system. OS X or Mac OS will detect the new board during bootup (using UEFI) and load the appropriate drivers (kernel extensions) automatically.
Hi Where can i buy the Logic board for this MacBook pro (late 2010, 15”) thank you
Ebay, type that in, in the ebay search bar exactly.
You forgot that little teeny tiny ribbon cable for the keyboard backlight. I found it out the hard way when I put mine back together and the backlight wasn't working. I figured it out - with a little help from Google.
Look at 4:47
Damn - my bad. How did I miss that? Funny thing is, I broke the lever but I was still able to get the cable in good and it works.
As long as the female connector housing is intact there is enough pressure to hold it in place indefinitely. The lever breaking is very common, no big deal.
MrHarris73 - That's NOT your bad. That part of the vid is telling you not to forget to connect something he originally told you to rip apart and destroy. He not only does not tell you to disconnect it, he says to be ready to pull your board up hard, because of a "slightly glued" microphone, so you are guaranteed to yank the cable. If he didn't get you to destroy your keyboard, you are lucky. "No big deal," he says about people he convinced to destroy the backlight on their keyboard. Yeah -- no skin off his back!
Isn't this analogous to yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theater?
Hi! Is it real to install logic board from 2012 15'' model? In video i find only differences in wifi and isight connector
Not sure what you are asking as you only stated one year in your question.
is the 2010 model also A1286? the same as the 2012 model?
It's not the same. This is the video you need for the 2012 15" model bit.ly/2M3ZiC2 you can find many video at www.appledollars.com for most models up to 2012 retinas.
Thank you! your channel is a life saver, but i'm just wondering if the logic board is the same in 2010 and 2012 because i tried looking for it on ebay, and they both said a1286
It's confusing but they are not the same. A1286 is referencing the outside body and screen size but the internals are slightly different each year between 2010 and 2012. Same goes for the 13" A1278, also different each year on the inside. Make sure to get the board for your year.
because i have a 2010 15 inch macbook pro that keeps restarting by itself, and i havent even tried my newer 2012 macbook yet
I want to fix my 2010 macbook pro, but don't know which logic board to get
Thank you for making this video! You' da MAN!!!
maCbook, not maGbook
What are you referring to?
He clearly says MacBook. His "c" is soft, but doesn't sound like a "g" lmao
