I had this on vinyl which played at 45 rpm. I played it at 33 rpm for couple of days before I realised I was playing it at the wrong speed. sounded great which ever speed I played it.
Went through the same thing with Metallica's Creeping Death ep. Supposed to be played at 45 but was on 33 for weeks. Took a while to get used to the right speed.
I used always turn my speed metal EPs into doom metal. Got the idea when we were hanging out in a Christian bookstore. They had Walkmans on the wall so you could listen to the tapes before you bought them. I went to check out one of the Christian metal bands, and I I was like, "Woah check this out! It's like doom metal!" My friends were like damn that's bad ads, then we realized the batteries were dying in the tape player.
POSSESSED...quite simply the best band to contribute to the metal / black metal scene...They are my personal favorites of that particular style of music... Horns up...
Saw this band live on this tour in Chicago. Dark Angel opened. THIS was the underground thtash/death metal scene in the mid 80's. This EP was their best effort.
Nothing ever matches "Seven Churches" nothing ever. But this is a great effort yes as is "Beyond The Gates" and as are the demotapes from 1991 and 1993. After that disgrace began and culminates in 2019. Fuck that shit of now! I stick to these three records forevermore! BTW could someone finally upload the FULL 1993 demo with the re-recorded version of "The Exorcist" on it?
Me and my high school friends waited weeks for the release of this EP because we knew it was their last. What a wonderful nostalgic memory and sound. Thanks for sharing.
I ADORE this album. Please do not delete. It's the only chance I get to listen to it other than a cassette tape. Yes, cassette. I got this when it came out. Wheeeee!! My Belief, and Swing Of The Axe....definitely!
i like 'seven churches',their debut album....the 2nd 'beyond the gates' is awesome....but this EP it's simply special. Fast, hard and much more mature (specially the lyrics)
Maybe Exodus pleasures of the Flesh kinda came out same as this, but I noticed not only the best that year, but most original masterpiece of metal i always heard My Belief when i thought of it, I loved hearing this deep in my heart, master of puppets only album I loved deeply besides this one.

Yeah, at some point a documentary about Satriani is needed and long overdue. The man has tutored too many iconic guitarists and made too much music to go unnoticed by audiophiles. Most underrated guitar player, imho.

Had this on cassette when it was released got it from Camelot records..lost it in hurricane Katrina..anyone know where I can get this classic ep.? On vinyl Lp or cd?
if only they released this before beyond the gates, the critics wouldnt have shit on them the way they did(undeserved in my opinion not a bad album) and their reputation would never have been tarnished and maybe they could have become somewhat as popular as Death
But only without Jeff. He was the reason they split up. This guy is so full of himself and such a drama queen as unpredented. The band is Mike Torrao and without Torrao it is like King's Repentless --- useless.
cant believe i never knew possessed had a 3rd release until today. i just edited the Wikipedia entry to incorporate this. was Larry LaLonde on this as well?
Larry never was important to Possessed's sound. He only wrote three and a third songs and they were the most commercial ones too. It's all credit to Mike Torrao.
Music fact:
Legendary guitar player/teacher, Joe Satriani produced this album in 1986/1987. 🙂👍
His teachings can be heard in "storm in my mind" intro.
I grow up with this band, it was the best death metal album of that year, technical, strong and heavy, long life to possessed!!
I had this on vinyl which played at 45 rpm. I played it at 33 rpm for couple of days before I realised I was playing it at the wrong speed.

but... you don't like Thrash Metal then. I like a lot at his normal speed, I don't want to play it slow, I don't even imagine it

Great thrash metal & awesome cover design!
Its not thrash friend, possessed its fucking death metal/,,/
*Death Metal
my favorite from Possessed..fuckin awesome
Apparently this was produced by Joe Satriani, which blew my mind
Yeah, at some point a documentary about Satriani is needed and long overdue. The man has tutored too many iconic guitarists and made too much music to go unnoticed by audiophiles. Most underrated guitar player, imho.
Joe was Larry Lalonde's(the guitarist) guitar teacher. Larry eventually moved on to Blind Illusion and then Primus.
you mean sold out to Primus lol
Charles Man Dang Ya me too. Was astonished when I read that on my original cassette
No shit? Now I'm hearing Satriani influence. WTF?
I remembering they kept running ads for this in RIP magazine when this came out. I was fascinated by the cover art. Thanks for uploading.
I accidentally tapped on this video trying to select something different. Best mistake ive ever made, lol. This kicks ass..
so good. best of possessed
Excellenmt album! the songs are the same style of Beyond The gates! Pure Thrash/Death M
Metal of high quality! 10!
One of the albums which make me happy. Big shame there were anymore recordings of the band in this vein...
My friend Greg borrowed this from his older sister Kathy in 87 at our vacation in Lake George. Love this album to be alive for all of this!
Damn Kathy mustve been a cool ass chick ..
Possessed are one of the best thrash metal bands there has ever been! Sucks that they weren't able to make more stuff.
exactly.
New album next year! \m/
Visionary artistry is my belief
Fuck this new album. It is not Possessed, it is a bunch of hired hacks and a shot voice.
von burgenland ?
Thanks, I needed this! It's been a while. Nice quality.
Flat out bad ass all these years later.
SWING OF THE AXE!!!
STORM IS IN OUR MINDS!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, these guys were fun to listen too and see, back in the day.
Possessed for life
If this is what it is like to be possessed then I want more!! Thrash Metal at its best!
Really good release from the band. More thrashy than death metal that we were used to from them, but the songs were cool.
I remeber getting this when it first came out..
