having extremely ignorant parents is mostly a curse, but has its blessings, since anything short of a full-on pride flag flies under their radar 🙃👍🏻
2 year update: I'm now 20 and living with my bf, and I can now wear rainbows without having to make excuses or hide it from them 🌈
Hey do you have any tips for pride flags I want one but my grandma and my sister sleep with me
@@willowhaven7914 I'm not exactly experienced with this, but
1. depends on what they know about pride flags - if yours is less well-known or matches your decor, they might just see it as a decoration
2. depends what your decor is like and what you could disguise the flag as, like a tapestry or something
3. depends on the kinds of flags you can find - handkerchief form, pin form, art print form, etc.
Y e s
My parents are so oblivious that I could have a full on pride flag and they would be like “ThAs A pWeTtY WeCtAnGle”
@@gollygeewhiz3033 LMFAO
Lol when i was still in the closet, i kept saying happy pride month to people and i didnt know what pride month was
🤮🤢🤮
@@mattwilliam5522 Well happy pride anyway bigot! At least I'm true to myself and don't hate on marginalised people.
@@mattwilliam5522 you need therapy
@@haleyundeadj6610 lol I need therapy because I don't support sick sexual deviant behavior? I think u have it backwards
@@mattwilliam5522u ok?
As a straight male I want to say happy pride month for every body. Remember PRIDE since 1966 is an acronym for Personal Rights in Defense and Education. But, first and foremost it is the acronym for "Promote Respect, Inclusion, and Dignity for Everyone".
For those who are still scared, alone, or feel unsupported. The LGBTQ+ community is there for you. Even straight people support you. If your family is not understanding or there for you. There is another family that will accept you for who you are. We are all looking for equality! And to be able to express who we are.
Have a great pride month and shine!
You, sir, are a living legend.
late reply but hey, thank you anyways!
I'm Acespec and still living at home.
I recently bought a hanging crystal to hang in my window, so when the light hits it, rainbows are reflected around my room. My family are none the wiser!
The best thing is, if you're young and have a birthday coming up (or wanna wait until Xmas), you can ask this and your folks will just think you're buying something for your window! 🏳️🌈
EDIT: Thanks for the likes everyone :) be safe and be well this pride month x
Hello fellow aspec

Another tips:
1. The ace/aro one, but with other flags, too. Eg: for fellow bis, wear blue jeans, a purple tee and pink cardigan/coat.
2. If you have any loom bands etc., make bracelets/jean-chains (I made one with flower patterns, I can send you the photos if you give me any of your socials.)/any type of accessories. They're usually not that subtle.
@Artic Wood Studio I'm sending it on tiktok!
Edit: I couldn't find it lemme check instagram
Edit 2: I hope I sent it to the right person lmfao
wait whats the ace and aro one?
Different sexualities who have not come out
Ace: in the deck
Pan: in the pantry
Other: in the closet
I just hit my brother with a pan and I'm just home
Perfect. I was thinking about that since pride month is soon
It is very soon lol

Haha I’m in pride month
what I've been doing is making bracelets with my flag colors and put them on my ankles so they were hidden by my boots, and the other day i beaded the laces of my combat boots with the flags since no one really plays attention to the laces.
For Pride month, I’m painting a cute dragon statue the ace flag colors! Obviously, I’m going to paint him in a way that isn’t too obvious.
P.S- How do you come out as ace to a conservative family? I fear that they might tell me that everyone is like that and invalidate my feelings.
Edit: I came out to my dad and he accepts me! His side of the family wasn’t really the side I was worried about, but it sure is a start!
congrats, fellow ace! that’s awesome!
@@marzz4062 :^) Thanks! I also came out to my conservative family, and they don’t get it. But I don’t need them to get it, I got support elsewhere!
@@sockthread6814 i’m too nervous to come out to my family, they’ll be too confused! i’m also glad to have a supportive community online :)

I just have my worm on strings hanging in a rainbow pattern lol
I once had a background with the ace flag colors that looked just like a regular background to my family
I have actually put a blue, white, and Pink hair tie in my hair.
I'm Bi, but I have to hide it from my entire family as they're all homophobic. These tips really help a lot to make me feel validated in my own home. Thank you for all of your amazing content! :D
ur parents are doing a good job
I realized a little while ago, I'm demisexual
add that to my list
* ahem *
demisexual, non-binary, polyamourous, pansexual, omniromantic
Thank you so much for these tips! I came out to my mom recently as bi recently, but she thought I was a bit too young to label myself so I still kind of feel closeted. I really want to buy pride pins and stuff, but I know I probably can't :/ Especially since she doesn't want me being super public about it. I guess I'll just wait till I'm old enough and can have a pride flag .
Same my parents think it is a trend and think I am to young
I also came out and the same thing happened
the same thing happened to me!
Aww, I'm sorry guys! I hope you all can hang in there ❤️
Why isnt there a whole month for homophobes sounds discriminating to me
Heya I just came out to my dad! It went pretty well and he supports me fully! I want to thank you for all of your videos, I’ve been celebrating in secret for a couple years now being the help of your videos, but this time I can do it all proudly for everyone to see! This channel really helped me feel confident in coming out and I’m so glad I did, it feels so much better than I had thought.
Also, if you’re on a call with some fellow LGBTQIA+ people who either have homophobic families or are closeted, you can use certain code words for to sexualities! One I use with my friends is that we say, instead of lesbian/gay, we use “Gieco”. For example “I’m lesbian” would be “I use gieco!”
Parents might think it’s just a strange joke, and if they ask, you can just say that you gays (pun intended) simply think that the lizard is funny, when really you’re talking about your sexuality!
Examples:
“I really wanna tell my parents I’m lesbian..it shouldn’t even be that big of a deal..”
“I really wanna tell my parents I use gieco..I mean, you can save 15% off on car insurance!”
“My parents are homophobic..”
“My parents don’t use gieco, they use *insert name*”
“I’m so glad pride month is here! I get to see so many people being proud of who they are”
“I love using gieco and saving 15% off on all car insurance!”
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH GUYS, GALS AND NON-BINARY PALS! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
You should be hired for Gieco
Hi! Im the person from the thanksgiving thing last year and I came out as pan to my mom and didnt get much support but... I now goby they/them!
Congratulations on coming out!!
@@mansikka8487 I havent came out as non binary yet as... my mom dosent support much
@@somethinginthewalls I’m sorry to hear that, my family also isn’t very supportive hence why I’m closeted, but hopefully you have some friends who are able to support you
@@mansikka8487 I do!
@@somethinginthewalls I’m glad to hear that!!
I have a recommendation too! If you play animal crossing, celebrate there! Especially if none of your other family members are on your island. Even if you do share an island, you could make/download custom clothes with pride flag colors. For example, the day after I realised I was ace, I found this really cool ace flag dress design and wearing it made me so happy! And since the stripes were vertical, and the ace flag isn't the most recognizable, no one knew!
Update: a while back I also made this cool ace heart hoodie for myself and put it on the gallery, and since it's June I decided to make more in a similar style since I really like making hoodie designs. I've just done the Bi and Pan flags by this point, but I plan on doing more soon. If anyone who has the game is interested, my creator ID is MA-9354-9331-9796
Heyy, another couple tips here!
1. U can have a phone wallpaper with pride flags that dont have rainbows on them. Im talking about flags like bi, ace, gay (the blue one), lesbian, pan, trans, etc. My parents are homophobic and therefore don't know any more pride flags other than the original rainbow flag. I use this tip and have lesbian and ace flags as wallpapers. I also almost tricked my parents into buying me a pride t-shirt using this tip! U can use this tip on literally anything!
2. U can have some known LGBTQ+ sayings like "Love is love" on your pnone's wallpaper or anyehere IN A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE other than ur first language that u speak, but ur parents don't understand it. Im Russian and both my parents are really bad at English. So I had been having "I love girls" lettering as my wallpaper with lesbian flag for over a year till i decided to change it.
3. For aces: i have recently discovered that some proud aces wear black rings. Just pure black. U can do it too!
"Use colorful colors"
me a alt les girl: That is way to obvious-
SAME other than the girl part-
My favorite colors are black, teal and light purple but I told my parents that my favorite colors are the colors of the rainbow 🌈 so I can be rainbow-fyed without my parents finding out I’m in the lgbtq+ community 🤫
My pride flags come on Monday! My dad asked if I wanted posters so I picked out the pan flag and the non-binary flag and he was none the wiser what they are. Hehe…
ME TOO, i have drawings my sexuaIitiys on my wall and my parents think they are just random colors
@@_souldier lol
Im gonna make a mini bisexual flag 🤺
I'm not closeted but I might as well be. My parents clearly don't support me and won't let me get anything pride. Sooooo
wow that must be really hard for you. but just because your parents might not support you doesnt mean you shouldnt let everyone else know because there will always be someone who is there for you, whether they show it or not
@@qadzikin Yeah. I think my dad supports me now, and I think my mom is working on getting better. So I'm hopeful
I just want to say this the lgbtq community are geniuses
My dad and I just had a debate on whether non bianary existed (let's just say I won)
Well of course you won because every credible scientific study is backing you up to know that being non-binary is valid. Of course it's valid and real.
The same thing happened to me and my step dad but thing is I didn’t want to have a debate with him I just told em that my friend was nb. The guy kept wanting to have a debate no matter how many times I tried defusing the situation. I already came out to my parents as bi but I wish i didn’t tell them.
Same but he won because he started yelling...
Know I can celebrate while still closeted about me being bisexual
Happy Pride everyone!!!! Good luck to all my fellow LGBTQ+ friends, good luck to all the strangers and good luck to all of you. Love you!!!!
This is another tip, if you can’t get a pride flag then tie dye one! Your parents will just think that you like rainbow or whatever colors your pride flag is things.
In June, I plan on writing an lgbt star wars fanfiction, buying a bisexual pride flag, and telling pansexuals, non-binary people, and asexuals that they are welcomed and valid. *BASED AND RAINBOWPILLED*
I'm showing my brother this comment he's pan so he'll be happy
ahhh ur valid too 🥺🥺🥺
well that was very needed! pride month has been becoming more and more depressing over the years for me because i just wish i could celebrate too. so these tips are very well welcomed!! thank you!
I have a science encyclopedia and there's a double page about colour in it, so I'm just going to leave the book open on that page for the entirety of pride month
That’s such a cool idea! An art color wheel would also work too
This is my first pride month with a girlfriend but I'm closeted so this really helped me
Also I love the Outro “and have a gay day everyone”
My parents are super supporting (especially my dad) but since I use their accounts in online shopping, and I can’t really buy anything, I look at this stuff so that I can celebrate with stuff I already have
❤️🧡🤍💖💜
Thank you for the tips 😁🥰
I recommend using notebooks a school supplies with you pride flags on them (you may have to paint them on though). Also I'm taking the characters suggestion.
Haven’t come out to my parents that I’m Pan yet.
ive come out 1/3 of the way to half of my parental unit. the other half is completely homophobic so im avoiding that lmao.
Hey! I don't know if you'll read this or not, but I came out to my parents around a year ago! They didn't kick me out or anything, but they don't like talking about the LGBTQIA+ community, and aren't the most accepting. I would appreciate it more than you could ever know, if you made a video for ways to celebrate pride month around parents who already know, but aren't accepting. Because they already know, I feel like they'd take anything rainbow as some sort of pride celebration, and they already know what I personally identify as, so they'd look out for those colors as well. The ones in this video can be easily missed when people feel they have nothing to look out for, but since my parents already know- they'd probably understand what I'm trying to do..
I’m so sorry you have to go through this. Maybe try to do something on your phone (draw a pride picture, find pride photo online, write something, etc) so you can display it when you are in your room but can turn it off when someone might see it. I hope it gets better 💜🌈
@@KawaiiCat2 :00 those are wonderful ideas!! thank you so much!! :D
Thank you I needed this video. I am using the science passcode now 🙂
A bit late, but when it comes to watching LGBT movies I recommend Tubi. It's free so you don't have to worry about parents finding out, and you don't even need an account so your history can't be traced! They have an entire genre just for LGBT!
I'm pan and my parents don't know but I made a bracelet with different colors and my parents know nothing About the flags so they don't suspect a thing😂❤️💛💙
This video actually helped alot
HAPPY PRIDE MONTH🌈👬👭
Binge watching LGBT content. That brings me back to when I was young and stupid. I would use my mom's phone to watch that stuff, but I didn't know how to clear my watch history😅 She didn't say anything about it, though.

Just what I need!
I have a friend that does crochet, and I commissioned a pan flag from them. It now sits quietly on a shelf, completely unnoticed by anyone who comes into my room.
i need this video so much thank you-
I had a bracelet making activity with my religious youth group and made an aroace, fictoromantic, and enby bracelet. My friends were none the wiser! (The enby one's for a friend, I'm giving it to them in June!)
Happy pride to my closeted and un-closeted people! 🏳️🌈
Happy Pride to you as well, thank you!
Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈
I'm a queer neurodivergent disabled person about to graduate high school next week. I am a queer person who made it through high school alive. For the longest time, I didn't think I was going to make it, but I did. I'm alive and graduating because of some amazing friends.
I'll also be wearing rainbow socks for graduation because I have an accommodation to wear gym shoes (for medical reasons), so I'll get to show my pride that night!
i'll just make a daily drawing of takoyama (hairdersser octopus)being a drag queen for the month because he's an underrated queer-coded gay icon
If your into crafts you could ask your parents to get rainbow popsicle sticks and they will think that you just wanted the different colors for different crafts at least that's what I do in the closet
2:47 nah just paint yourself with washable paint if you cant paint/draw anything
Ty! I live out where I can't really celebrate where I live because it's sort of dangerous with homophobia and stuff, and this really helps!
Perfect vid Matt as usual

OHHHHH MY PRIDE FLAG COLORS BUT PASTEL 🤩
PASTEL. LESBIAN. FLAG.
It sounds beautiful-
Happy pride month everyone!
Most people celebrating pride closeted: Drawing pride things, buying rainbow stuff, eating rainbow candy
Me: *Growing rainbow crystals*
i made a drawing with the poly pride flag (blue was water, green was some grass, and pink was an unrealistic sunset). im gonna do an ace and an aroflux one next :)
This is perfect
I paint my nails all the colors. My mom is used to this. I'm just painting my nails white, grey, black and purple, or maybe the morandi rainbow.
i paint my nails in colours of different pride flags, of course the colours are not in the order but it still makes me happy!
Another tip: Get a rainbow slinky and your parents will never suspect anything. (rainbow slinkies are VERY common and so it's not hard to find them.)
He just be roasting parents lol
I’m not sure if this has already been said but I’m painting rocks with bai colours
How am I just finding your channel now? As they say.. better late than never
For me, while living at home still, I chose to get colourful bedding and paint/find colourful pictures/plant pots. Luckily my family don't realize what it means to me and that they just think that I am being more colourful.
Edit: Just to add, but for the whole of pride month I am wearing shoelaces I painted rainbow on all of my shoes so that I know what I am representing but no one else does.
one time me and my parents were walking around a store and I saw a pair of rainbow sandals, I pointed them out and I thought my parents would figure out why I wanted them but they just thought I wanted them because they were colourful and now I have a cool pair of rainbow sandals to wear on pride month :)
I have a transparent desk organiser on my desk with rainbows markers lined up inside it in the order of the rainbow- and the colours of my different school files are literally lined up in the order of the pride flag- I am somehow hoping that my homophobic Christian parents might know already and not disown me for being who I am. (I'm a Bisexual Greyromantic Demigirl btw)
2:09 I was actually making a colour pallete for my room and unintentionally made it the colours of the Aromatic flag 😅
I actually did the tie-die one before discovering this video, funny other people had the same idea
Whenever I find my jewelry-making stuff I am absolutely making an ace-colored bracelet. Even more hidden for me because my favorite colors were already black, white, gray, and purple.
Seems your parents didn't raise you too well.
My dad is a chemical engineer, and he knows the entire periodic table by heart
I don't know if this was covered on another video, but find a desktop background with your colors in it! There's lots of different kinds of designs like galaxy, tie-dye, or maybe some artwork with a filter! You can delete your search history when you find something. All you have to type in is "desktop with ____ colors" and see what you find. I found my bi pride colors for my work desktop, and no one's the wiser. Happy Pride, y'all! ^_^
posted 25 seconds ago???????
I was painting in girl scouts and my friends was doing her pride flag so I did mine since it was poue painting so they never new and I had to replace white with purple (I'm omni)
What I'm doing for my first pride as bi is watching queer-coded animes like Given, Spiritpact, and Love Stage and reading gay fanficton (around 80% of the fanficton I read are about non straight couples anyways).
The first ace ring I got was some black yarn I tied around my finger, then for Christmas my mom bought me a real black ring thinking it was just fashion or something
