    No hip throw there but shoulder throw..kata guruma

      Very similar in structure and appearance to kata guruma, but technically it is koshi guruma from the second set of the curriculum. It partly depends on which way the arm is captured (inside or outside). But yes, it all looks similar to a fireman’s carry.

    Kuruma Daoshi, look like when we train Kumi Kata in Judo, we try to block the incoming hand and do Seoi Nage.
    Nice stuff, really want to learn Daito Ryu, but we have none in here only Aikido.

    Love what you are doing and want to do the same thing. Did an Aiki based jujutsu to black belt, and am now on and off doing BJJ. Good work.

    There is a way to make your kuruma daoshi better....it seems they don't teach it in DRAJJ or Aikido, and yet you did it somewhat when more alive intrinsically once.....I find that interesting and why don't they teach it?

      Thanks for the comment. This demo was hardly an understanding of how/why the technique works, but yes there are some nuances that can always be improved 👍🏼

    Daito-ryu Hiden Mokuroku is a lot of set of ideas how to lock opponents body not a set of fancy moves. Whole five sets explains basic ideas of Daito-ryu. Kaitenwasa comes next when ideas absorbed by student.

      @@Aiki_and_Jiu Daito-ryu also quite compressed community 'cause it's very small. Represent Daito-ryu of every branch is a lot of hard responsibility. Who is you teacher and is he agreed to you represent his teaching?

    • @Aiki_and_Jiu
      @Aiki_and_Jiu  4 роки тому

      Thank you again for this comment. I understand the position to be responsible for the core teaching of Daito Ryu, but my intentions are not to “teach” Daito Ryu on UA-cam, but demonstrate to a more broad audience how the “flow” of Brazilian jiu-jitsu is evident in other arts, and how the finesse and details in Daito Ryu/Aikido are beneficial in BJJ. These demonstrations should lead to discussion, but not be viewed as irresponsible.

      @@Aiki_and_Jiu This was an honest answer. But devil's in details. By showing something to people you take responsibility to demo and CORRECT transmission of ideas to people. Someone watching this vid may think that Daito-ryu 'is like that'. Will you take that responsibility to show 'is like that' Daito-ryu to public? It's potentially billions of people and potentially thousands of martial arts practitioners. This question actually generates previous - who is your teacher and if he allow you to demonstrate Daito-ryu to public? It's not kind of offence or attempt to belittle your skills but it's quite real deal to show something that lives more that one hundred years.

    Does DAJJ cover escapes from the ground (i.e. ne waza or kansetsu waza).

      Daito Ryu is unique in it’s own specific way, just as other arts have details and techniques that are unique to them. Depending on the school, you could have as much as 50% newaza, but kneeling instead of laying down. Although training is specific to certain techniques, the underlying principles can go a long way. Best of luck 👍🏼

      Nothing. And if he has a knife in the other hand, you don't use these techniques.

      well this is for sucker punch, some people try to slap you not to hit you with jab and hook with serial punching. This is good technique for self defense when you are pushed back.
      Added:
      That kind of strike is not from a punching but rather than a Wakizashi strike. It is a block against an armed guy. Daito Ryu actually for body guard and the attacker have a strong grip to take the wakizashi from the body guard and so on. And they actually dont throw. every strike to the attacker is a strike with weapons.

    There are hardly any essential points or fundamentals of Daito-Ryu in the movements shown. If it is voluntary, then so much the better (people don't need to know Daito-Ryu's claws, they need to study). If it's unintentional ... it's a shame (people will believe things that are not right). Daito-Ryu has specificities that other martial arts lack (or very few). To make believe here that these movements are Daito-Ryu is a hoax. These are just Ju-Jutsu moves from I don't know which school, or moves that look like Daito-Ryu moves without their essence, much like an artificial parakeet looks like a living parrot. Good luck to study better ... (OLIVIER GAURIN)

    • @Aiki_and_Jiu
      @Aiki_and_Jiu  4 роки тому +1

      Olivier Gaurin I appreciate your critique. To be fair, I made no attempt to teach any subtleties of Daito Ryu in this or other videos, but rather I am showing purely the jujutsu application of the technique in combination with others. Anyone can view a multitude of “slow and deliberate” Daito Ryu techniques from many sources online, but it is my journey to show some of the techniques in a more jujutsu way for a different audience. Although I have studied Daito Ryu for over 16 years, I have also (and still) trained vigorous arts such as judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I have an appreciation for all of the jujutsu arts, and am sharing in my own way some techniques/concepts that I can relate to in my training. In a classical sense, this is my Shu-Ha-Ri journey and should be appreciated for what it is, rather than critiqued in the same bucket as others. I value all of the information and knowledge that you share (I really like your stuff), but hope you understand the different approach I am bringing to a wider audience. Much respect 👍🏼 - Robert Silas
