Nice speech. My wife and I both came up in the early 80's OC punk scene. We both played in bands and are friends to this day with the people we met and played with in those days. Not gonna name-drop. We had a daughter and kept playing, but nowadays we go to very few shows. But we still have the same "punk" ideals and principles that we live by. We have passed these on to our daughter as have our friends to their kids. I feel it's very important to keep these alive, and we do our best to keep them going in the world. Fight the good fight and all that. Thanks for being the person you are. Peace.

Oh jeez,I could write a novel length response to this vid. When I saw SLC Punk in my 30's it blew me away how much that mirrored my youth: I was a midwest Dungeon & Dragons playing jr high kid who was turned onto punk rock, and it changed my life forever. Being a punk rock/new wave obsessed teen in the early-mid 80's growing up in a stifling backwoods town,I ran away from home at 17,hopped a plane to Southern California with nothing but the clothes on my back and a duffel bag of clothes. Thank God it didn't end badly, and I lived a happy independent life for 20 years there. I TRULY lived my dream, doing my own thing and being my true self

I discovered punk rock as a kid living in Los Angeles in the mid '80's. The music, the look, the whole punk rock mentality (which you described perfectly) drew me right in and while I may not have a big mohawk anymore (although I still wear my black converse and can't resist the urge to dye my hair every color of the rainbow) I will always have that punk rock state of mind. It really is about throwing a big middle finger out at what our society tells us is "normal" and doing what ever it is we are passionate about doing. It's about creativity, open mindedness, and not giving a damn what anyone else thinks. The first time I saw one of your videos, I could tell right away that you had that old school punk rock mentality (we can usually recognize our own..lol) and that, my friend is what has kept me watching all this time. Some people don't get it, and they never will..and that's ok. Personally, I couldnt imagine living any other way and you're a great example of the places having that punk rock mentality can take you! Great vlog, Adam..keep it up :)

A couple of videos ago you ( Adam ), had mentioned how hard it is to please everybody. This video alone has enriched not only me but my soul as well. I am a graphic designer and have always really enjoyed Punk Rock music, I have been fortunate enough to go to hundreds of punk shows ( and will still go to them :) ). I have listened to Green Day since "Kerplunk" and Blink182 since "Cheshire Cat". Have still loved these bands today. On the day Kurt passed I was even a part of his candlelight parade back in Seattle. Adam your passion is freaking awesome about Punk and really well spoken about the "Punk Rock Mentality". If there was a way that I could like this video 50+ times I would. Not only did you do the meaning of Punk Rock justice you also described how I try to live ( Passionate Punk Rock Mentality). This passion I try to live daily and agree that even though people may not get me and my mentality I still hold it pure to my heart. Excellent job on this video, keep up the great work!

After watching this video I respect you even more than I already did. Thanks for inspiring me man. The fact that you know the true meaning of punk rock adds to the awesomeness of Adam The Woo. You just gotta do your own thing and not care about what others think. That's the right way to live and you're doing just that.

Preach it Adam!. Punk is a state of mind not fashion. It was never about clothes. That would have been considered a uniform witch means conformity. Stores like Hot Topic who sell the look is everything punk was against (corporate America). You wanna be Punk! be an individual..That's Punk!

I knew you were in punk rock bands but this information is a great surprise. no way! I was a massive ska punk fan in my teens and early 20's. I had gusto on cd that a friend of mine gave me. Im pretty sure there was a song on there called pee in the shower, which comes to my mind every time I see a video of Heimbuck. This vlog just came together like pieces of a puzzle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Lenny Kaye coined the term "punk rock" when he produced that great compilation record "Nuggets" in 1972. On a side note- Lenny is a super cool dude and I had the pleasure of hanging with him one whole afternoon.

I hear ya. I was in a band called dead end kids for 12 years until our guitar player passed away. Some of the greatest times in my life. We got to play with the damned at the state theater in st pete, and F.E.A.R. in Ybor city. My first show is at CBGB in New York City. Great times that made me who i am.

My dad used to call me a punk rock princess... Lol I was the only kid in middle school on the soccer and softball team that listened to The clash, the Ramon's, the sex pistols, green day, and all that jazz. I sing, so I listen to a wide variety of music, but something about punk rock brought out my true spirit. For me, punk rock symbolizes marching to the beat of your own drum. Individuality and not conforming to the everyday grind. Simply put, I do what I want. Because I want to do it. Not because someone tells me to. But, I'm sensitive to others similar right as well. I've been pierced, bleached and weird throughout most of my 28 years. As of late the hair is brown and my piercings are out but, I will rock out in my car and make others say "YOU LISTEN TO THAT?!" On the regular. Lol if I had the voice to front a rock band I would. But, sadly I'm more of a soul singer. I do song with a live band when I do sing tho. And I'm known to lean in on and rock the mic stand like I'm a rockstar. Hahaha dream on, rock on but most importantly remember be yourself regardless of what society says...

Nice vid, Adam! I can definitely relate to a lot of what you're saying. Music, has always been a huge passion of mine, too. I played drums in quite a few bands back in the late 80's-early 90's. Never really got into punk, though! I'm a rock/metal guy. You should make a vid telling about the gear you use/used, and if you're self-taught/took lessons, etc. Punk fans are definitely hardcore, no doubt about it. The one genre I truly can't stand, is rap. Way too much promoting of violence/degrading women/drugs/guns/vulgar language, you name it. Worse part is, it's too glorified in mainstream society.
