- I made this video to practice editing using some random footage I took while practicing using my drone the first week I owned it. I thought some of the Former residents might get a kick out of seeing their old homes.
I'm so sorry but the previous upload was not complete for some reason when I watched it back! No one thought to tell me though! :D

I was stationed there in 83 to 85 and 87 to 93.... sleep tight Heyford's an alert tonight.... was the lead singer in a local band called "OUTTA CONTROL" based in Whitney.... absolute amazing times... So nice I did it twice.... Thanks for posting....

Thank you so much for this video .My father was stationed here from 1974 to 1978 .My brother and I were both born here.In 1978 a week after my brother was born our mother and older sister who was 2 were killed in a fire and my father ,brother and I went back to America. I have always wanted to go back here for some odd sense of closure I suppose.
That's horrible. I guess it's unlikely you remember very much from the time though so that's fortunate. I was Born in 1975 near here too :D If you ever do want to visit, I'm always happy to let you know some nice places to visit nearby. There is no shortage of historic places.

Thanks for posting this. My Dad was stationed here in 1970-74. You have no idea how much videos like this are appreciated by so many of us who spent a big part of our youth in your beautiful country. For so many of us, Upper Heyford is our home away from home, in our hearts forever.

I'd walk through that park at the beginning on the way to the BX. At about 3:10, you're flying over where my dorms used to be. Was there from '81 to '83. What a wonderful place they've made! I'm happy to see this.

My brother Lewis Moore-Tactical Aircraft Mechanical Specialist-20th EMS Squadron-USAF was stationed from at Upper Heyford USAFB from1981-1983. He passed away on 6/14/2021.

It was a vibe when it was an active base for sure. I used to come up here from Bicester as a Teenager to use the bowling alley which was always full. I also attended every air show while I was in Air Cadets too. We always felt it was a shame more Americans didn't show any interest in coming to Air cadets when they lived right across the road in Caversfield :D
Great memories of my old home. The circle you first show is where my home was located. I love all the new developments. Are there lodges to stay for visitors in the town today?
There's a hotel in the village now. I think it's called The Heyford.

Ahhhhhhh, the 'Hush House' forgot that name...wow. That was down in Yellow Section, before Little Egypt. Was lucky to have been in an engine run up in a 'E' model to do weapons checks after a lightning strike.

Interesting, the houses at 1:30 are classic single-story American Ranch/Rambler style that was popular in the 1950s-70s so surprising to see these in the UK. There are many millions of these houses especially where the climate is hot and land is cheap so building a large foot print house on one floor is cheaper than a 2 floor house like in California and Florida.
I'm pretty certain these were built specifically for Americans because it had been an American air force base for a good while by the time they would have been built.
Stationed there from 88 to 92, great positive experience in England, but the civilian workers in CE were very rude and uncooperative. The base needed to be closed!
I bet some in the Pentagon might wish it were still open they way things are right now.
Local National CE Workers. Workers, more like "Brew Up" (Tea) Specialist. Their little brown panel vans had P.S.A. on the side of them. We used to say P.S.A. meant 'Pretty Sorry A$$ holes', and they lived up to that.
