Just checked before I posted a comment and it appears I'm not the only eagle eyed follower who spotted the rock dazzling on Amanda's finger...Sincere congratulations to you both.
There's something bright and shiny in the beginning of this video...and no, it's not your smile. It's something a little more cylindrical. Congratulations!!
As a geoscientist, I have always had most focus on landscape geomorphology and stratigraphy and sedimentology - in short things from the Quarternary. Now and then, I do as the smarter scientists of times long gone. They observed misplaced rocks. Glorious names in human history - like Charles Lyell and Louis Agassiz came up with the name for rocks that were placed far away from where they originated. They named them "erratics" - and was a fundamental reason to how they figured out that glaciers and huge ice-sheets must have existed in the past. An erratic is thus not an error - it is just a rock that gloriously presents itself as proof of massive forces that has changed the planet. I am pretty sure I spotted an anthropomorphic erratic at the beginning of this video. I just want to share this true story. The main-stage Late Weicheslian Maximum (LGM) - we have mapped it over more than a century - and it forms this "ring" around Fennoscandia. And on a field excursion to Denmark back in the early 1990s while walking upon that mainline ridge from LGM - I found a Norwegian rock of Gabbroic nature embedded. And I felt a strong need to give it a big old hug. A little rock from where I grew up in central Norway had been slowly - but surely transported to this huge ring that defines the late Weichelian Ice-Age maximum in Europe. Telling this deep history of inevitable forces of nature, also at present. Congratulations you two. Oh - back to being professional - glaciers are pretty handy at shaping some photogenic landscapes. Just saying.
Your very bright jackets hurt my eyes at the start, glad I watched all the way, so I have joined the mailing list. Nice ring Amanda, and it is not a 'lucky bag' ring that Gavin saved from the time he was a kid!
I didn't notice any ring but I did notice the his and her jackets - pink does suit you Gavin. Congrats on an engagement. Amanda certainly got her man .... hmmmm I think I can hear the Pixies playing ... "Here comes your man"
Fortunately summer 2020 fell on a Sunday here in Yorkshire fantastic day, looking forwards to summer 2021 I hope it’s a Saturday this year as the pub opening times are longer. 🍺🤪 As always excellent video and images.
I thoroughly enjoyed the video but completely failed to look at Amanda's finger. I couldn't take my eyes off your shorts. But based on everyone else's comments, congratulations are in order. So happy for both of you.
Hi Gavin. I love all your videos. I've watched them all at least twice and have learnt a lot about composition and camera settings. Being an A7iii user myself, it's good to see the back of your camera to see what settings you are using, so thanks for that. I don't know if either of you are planning it or not, but I would love to see a future video based on how the F4 group got started in the first place. How, when and where you all met each other, who's idea was it to do the F4 road trip etc.... Thanks for all the content you put out there, I always look forward to your videos. Take care.
Your first book! Love it! Welcome to the printing world. Prepare to take a beating. You guys are killing it. Keep up the good work. We love your channel.
Beautiful place to hike and grab some amazing images! Now Gavin seriously stop wearing Amanda's clothes, that jacket at the beginning 🤣 though I did love your Yorkshireman legs in those shorts! Can't wait for more summer vlogs from you. Amanda is such a lucky lady, did you see the rock on her finger it blinded me 💍
I couldn't concentrate on the whole video, because I was thinking the whole time, if there was an engagement ring on Amandas finger ;P Looking forward to this epic book! Regards Stefan
Flower photos definitely look best in soft, overcast light. Failing that, if the light is strong, I try to get the petals backlit as much as possible to really make the colors pop. Direct light is the worst.
Good to see shipping of the doubtless stellar book will be starting soon. Brilliant! Looking forward to receiving it 🤩 Always looking forward to yer video's Gavin.
I miss summer too but been trying to adapt to winter this year. I would like to see your tricks for pictures with snow. I have difficulty to bring out the colors sometimes. Wonderful background with the ferns and trees of vancouver island. Very nice video. Thanks
Get Adam to sign it and it will be worth twice as much. 😉Only kidding, you know you’re my favourite Pro Landscape photographer. I too can’t wait for the Spring now. Daffodils flowered today in my garden so not long now. Mmmm, the book does sound tempting! Something to read on the heady summer days in my back garden with a cold Pimms.
You know it makes sense. Pimms at 4pm as you wait for the right light,... quiet light, ( copyright Adam Gibbs Photography) to descend. Set you camera ( minus eyepiece. It does jar when I see it all naked around the eyepiece ) to “A” for Artistic. I thought of you today as I drove around a roundabout to see in front of me one solitary flip flop. Why is there always only one and who wears flip flops in February. I often see a random trainer or work boot on the road. Wouldn’t you think they’d miss it not being on their foot.
Im not bothered if i dont win, just love watching (& laughing ) nah pissing myself at your videos . Oh and learning from them . Great stuff keep it coming
Fun video thanks. I have a couple of questions for the legendary photographer Gavin Hardcover - Do you have a recommendation for a Polarizer? - I'm new to landscape photography - is the region above the sock and below the short considered a buffer zone? - Tricks of the trade - I use my calf high socks for my reserve Sony batteries
Needed a laugh today... you guys are great! We always yelled “Mark!!” for bears bc our buddy always wandered off far ahead. And god... beautiful scenery. I need to get to this part of Canada!!
I have seen fireweed all over in Alberta, it is one of my favourite wildflowers. Some shows up in my yard every summer. I hope you make a trip to Drumheller. The landscape is quite different there. I also like the landscape between Nordegg and the national park, north of the highway.
Arrrrrrrrrr summer. Great video gavin. I'd have been happy for you to just leave your camera recording so I Could sit and watch the flowers and the sunshine prrfect. We've just got rid of the snow here in Sheffield so the intro made me shudder brrrrrrr😖.
Really like the way you explain the details in the composition of the photo. You aren't too bad bad at this instructor thing. But Gavin those long socks, REALLY! Stopped wearing them at junior school, so un cool.
Visited Banff in April / May 2010 as part of at tour group. Every time I see images of B.C my mind goes back there. One day it will be for real. Thank You.
GO FOR IT!!! 10 million, no problem! I'm on the mailing list but just to be sure I have a chance at winning the piece....---err--- that spectacularly cool $50 collectible! NICE. Yay, a bit of summer! Thank you!
Fun video, congrats on the engagement! I am excited for the books to start shipping. What happened to Brent? His website no longer works...hope he is ok!
Super video like always we enjoy it a lot, and we missed the engagement part because we where focusing more on the nice red jackets 😉 -congratulations- Ps: normally nobody knows about Manitoba, so we where absolutely amazed that it even made it in an video from Vancouver Island. 😃😃😃😃
Great video mate. Nice to be taken back to warmer lighter times, when we could all go out lol. Shame about not getting the light you was after but what a place
„The prettiest thing so far was that lovely ..” and then the shot pans to Amanda. That was cute! If it was not on purpose you could still tell her it was. 😉☺️
I watched this as I debated a walk on a 12F degree morning. Hope you took a candid portrait of Amanda by the water. Beautiful, charming woman in a beautiful setting.
I really enjoyed the bright sun and smiling faces. I don't think my wife could deal with the conversation of bears while y'all were hiking.. to be honest not sure I could either
Ship it to me (the draft), I'm in Manitoba...lol...seriously though you should do a video about Paradise Valley and Giant Steps Waterfalls. In behind Mt Temple by Moraine Lake. Make sure you go down to the bottom of the falls, off the main trail a bit. The view of the falls from below is awesome, and nobody seems to go there.
Really hoping I win that book and pre press copy. I have a refrigerator out in the garage that just isn't level and from the looks of it those too items would be just the right height to prop it up. All kidding aside I'm looking forward to buying your book and hopefully a course or two. And again a great video.
ordered the book mate least i could do for all the laughs you've provided! and only way ill ever see snow lol ! also love the billing account kingpin studio's pure gold mate 😂
So there I was watching your ninja like prowess on the log and noticed your lack of appropriate footwear. And a certain sparkly rock on Amanda. I didn't tune in for a sensible video, Thomas Heaton has that gig. What's going on?? Great views. Love your videos. Keep them coming. Ps... Is it congratulations?? If so great news to both of you.
My comments as I watch: 1) Aww matching Jackets 2) 10 Million Subscribers? Better get that Clarence dude. 3) Bears? Always fun when you run across one. 4) I need to go on a trip with Brent. But only one with no elevation. He seems to know the best spots. 5) That blue at Hector Lake. ooooh 6) Did you see that tree? 7) Too much of a perfectionist on what you want. I understand if you can visit every few weeks. But if a trip once a year. Be happy with what you get. 8) Cleetus? Wow, have not heard that before.
the opening was just as beautiful amongst all the snow and ICE on her finger. Congrats. Shes a keeper!
Just checked before I posted a comment and it appears I'm not the only eagle eyed follower who spotted the rock dazzling on Amanda's finger...Sincere congratulations to you both.
I really like the split screen you used to explain your composition. Keep that up!
Love the blue colors in the running river. Again, another great video with epic views
Complaining that you miss the sunshine?
It’s sitting next to you ❤️
;)
It's not just the light that makes it different from Summer, there's Amanda's engagement ring.
There's something bright and shiny in the beginning of this video...and no, it's not your smile. It's something a little more cylindrical. Congratulations!!
"It pretty much is gonna fall apart as soon as it arrives... BUT it's the only one in existence!"
Best. Giveaway. Ever.
Finally, I can stop focusing on Amanda's finger in every video, and get back to watching what you have to say :) Congrats !!
Looks like the vision board is paying off! Nice work, Amanda!

Congratulations on the engagement.
You two are absolutely adorable. You are so blessed to have her support!
I didn't notice any ring but I did notice the his and her jackets - pink does suit you Gavin. Congrats on an engagement. Amanda certainly got her man .... hmmmm I think I can hear the Pixies playing ... "Here comes your man"
I think it would be really cool if you released a book, I would totally buy one when you do!
Fortunately summer 2020 fell on a Sunday here in Yorkshire fantastic day, looking forwards to summer 2021 I hope it’s a Saturday this year as the pub opening times are longer. 🍺🤪
As always excellent video and images.
Will Amanda sign the winner's book as well?
I thoroughly enjoyed the video but completely failed to look at Amanda's finger. I couldn't take my eyes off your shorts. But based on everyone else's comments, congratulations are in order. So happy for both of you.
Never joined a mailing list faster! Having such a warm vlog during this cold time is really...refreshing. Keep it up, Gavin!
I pre-ordered your book when you announced it but I need this special edition too !!!
Congratulation to both of you !

Is that an engagement ring ? (or is that old news and I have missed something). Congrats if it is.
I was about to ask and say the same thing. Well done you!
Excellent video and congratulations on the engagement.
Your first book! Love it! Welcome to the printing world. Prepare to take a beating. You guys are killing it. Keep up the good work. We love your channel.
Great tip about the stretch effect of titling down. I never gave that much consideration. Thanks a bunch!
Congratulations on the book (and the engagement). 😉

Do you need to sell more books to pay for the rock on her finger?
Flower photos definitely look best in soft, overcast light. Failing that, if the light is strong, I try to get the petals backlit as much as possible to really make the colors pop. Direct light is the worst.
Good to see shipping of the doubtless stellar book will be starting soon. Brilliant! Looking forward to receiving it 🤩 Always looking forward to yer video's Gavin.

Brilliant video Gavin, really enjoyed it. Hope all is well with you two.

Just what i needed mate, a reminder of what summer looks like and a bit of larkin about. Top drawer mate.
Gavin will be sporting the Canadian interpretation of the German lederhosen outfit. Available in all semi-good retail stores.
LMAO!! I noticed that too!!! Nice knee highs LMAO!!!
I would give it a go.
Amanda reminds me of a beautiful spring day,
Fantastic scenery rivals Yosemite!
I think you lost it a long time ago mate ;-)
Did he ever got it?
Adam, the entire UK is losing it right now with these bloody lockdowns. Every household is like an AA meeting 🤣
@@kamilfreebirdmovingpictures True technically you have to have something to lose it.
