I've heard them say they decide who takes which lines in a song amongst themselves but at this early stage in their career I would imagine the vocal & instrumental arrangement was by their main producer at RBW, Kim Dohoon. He was responsible for their early jazzy retro sound like their debut single Mr Ambiguous, which he originally wrote for Quincy Jones, so this blend of gospel, soul, rock and Vegas show tune is right up his alley. Six months into their career and to my ears they sound like a veteran 60's girl group who have been working live stages for years but there's also something raw about this performance that makes it like an unpolished gem and hints at their potential to reach another level of mastery and artistry. Over the next three years they continue to get better as singers, performers, writers and arrangers until all the hard work culminates in their vocal masterpiece Paint Me in Jan 2018. On Immortal Songs I think they transitioned from competing intensely and showcasing their vocal talent in an effort to prove themselves and win the competition to treating their appearances on the show as simply an opportunity to share a beautiful song with the studio & tv audience. So their latest performances on IS are less showy and flashy but imo they're more subtle and artistically mature. 😂
This was their first appearance on Immortal Song immediately after their debut. This is also the first performance I saw from them at the time and I was so impressed by these ladies. It's amazing how after these years they still managed to impress me with their improving talents and unexpected incredible performances 😍
I love how their singing that starts at 3:37 had an En Vogue "Free Your Mind" vibe. (En Vogue is one of my all time favorite American badass power vocal gurrrrrl groups, with superior soul, gospel and R&B feels.) So when I heard their influence I was so happy because it's almost like passing the torch to Mamamoo to take their talents into greatness... and they did! 🥰
I’m so happy to see you’ll be listening to the actual immortal songs (IS2) performances rather than the medley! I love the immortal song medley, but each IS2 performance has so much charm that can’t all be included in one performance, plus a few of them don’t make it to the medley. Seeing them grow on that show was the thing that made me fall in love with them, so thank you!
WOOOHOOOO!!! ♥️♥️♥️ I actually did react to the IM medley, but i’m very curious to see all the arrangements and the progress of the girls on that show!!
Thank you! The Way to Sampo is my all time favourite Mamamoo Immortal Song Performance it has a strong Broadway vibe (i might be wrong) but its amazing!
Always a pleasure to watch your reactions. I love that you're watching them in order haha. The evolution of Mamamoo (especially Moonbyul!) makes me so incredibly proud of how hard working they are, and happy that their talent is actually appreciated by the whole of Korea. I'm excited for this series!
I would like to recommend their performances in a tv show called Queendom in 2019. There are total 4 stages, so if you think it’s gonna be too long, maybe you can record all of them and choose which do you want to put on the channel~😂 But what’s the best is that you could react to all stages 😆 1. Decalcomanie: the one with powerful voice and music. They made that tv show a concert OMG (and they just finished their 2 days long concerts before recording this Decalcomanie, so they sounded a little bit fatigued. Nevertheless, they still gave a great show!) 2. Good Luck: they prepared 4 mini stages to show their own personality! (but since Wheein was badly mentally sick then, she didn’t have enough time to prepare. Yet she was still stable on the stage.) 3. I Miss You: this is a ballad song I think? And the song sounds difficult and high note😂They rewrote some of the lyrics and showed their thanks to moomoos. The way Mamamoo just stand there singing sincerely to moomoos really touched us. Hope you enjoy them~~ These 3 song are definitely different styles!! Mamamoo always change and gives us surprise ^_^
I just did a marathon of all your mamamoo reaction so far and I absolutely loved it! The way you enjoy everything from their voices, the arrangement, the band to the performance itself... it's so refreshing! Can't wait for more IS2 reactions and also maybe other kind of mamamoo content like acapella compilation, mvs (piano man, mr ambigous,..) or lives like Queendom :)
They did a lot of songs and performances in their early days with Wheein taking the lead. These days, it's always Hwasa and/or Solar leading. I wish they would give Wheein more leads.
You need to hear Passion Flower for Hwasa's amazing rapping and runs and "Velvet Fragance" for Moonbyuls singing. 😍 And please, could you check up their Queendom performances like "I miss you"? :)

Since you are mentioning 2 of the wins... why not their first win "Backwoods"
편 in the title actually means episode, so this was from the composer Kim Yeong Gwang episode :)
