Starlink Mission

- SpaceX is targeting Wednesday, January 20 for its seventeenth Starlink mission, which will launch 60 Starlink satellites from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center. The instantaneous window is at 8:02 a.m. EST, or 13:02 UTC.
The Falcon 9 first stage rocket booster supporting this mission previously flew on seven other missions: the SXM-7 mission in December 2020, launch of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission in June 2019, launch of Crew Dragon’s first demonstration mission in March 2019, and four Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, which will be located in the Atlantic Ocean. One half of Falcon 9’s fairing previously supported a Starlink mission and the other previously supported two. - Наука та технологія

One would've hoped that learning from others' mistake would be a common practice, but. No BO just had to go through the mistake themselves.... 🤦♂️
I dunno, BO had to have been better than the coverage for the SLS green run. They were positive it was going to be successful that they didn't bother to have a script for when it failed. They just went on like it passed and that they were shipping it off to Florida when they gotta do it again.

That was a very windy landing! I love that they are testing in less than ideal circumstances as things will not always be ideal when traveling to and from Mars. GG's SpaceX!!
One of things that will he important with making spaceflight more like traditional airlines is the ability to fly in unfavorable weather.
Can't wait for them to be like "Yeah, there's a blizzard goin on but let's fly that thing!"
@@WasatchWind Falcon 9 has to fit under standard overpasses so that limited the diameter to 3.7 m and so they stretched it to gain performance. This made Falcon a very skinny rocket and more susceptible to wind changes at altitude. Starship by both having a much larger diameter (9m) compared to it's height and due to it's larger size and mass will be less susceptible to bad weather. At some point they did mention the ability to launch inside a storm, as that may be necessary in the future. Soyuz enjoys launching in the middle of blizzards too.

It seems like they can land a rocket more precise than pilots can land their plane. It´s meter precision!
Not to mention on a platform bobbing up and down in the ocean and most certainly drifting somewhat.
@@Titter2 so do navy pilots...on MOVING carriers. For decades.
Self driving cars are just around the corner for public use. They will be controlled by computers, a lot safer and faster and efficient than a human being. Think of no more accidents. Cruise control in steroids.
Rockets don’t land (or launch for that matter) if the weather isn’t absolutely perfect.
Have you witnessed expert pilots landing planes in heavy crosswinds? They fly those bad boys on a 45 degree yaw right up till touchdown. Now THAT is crazy impressive skill.
I’d like to see any of SpaceX’s rockets land in heavy wind. Let alone ANY unfavourable weather conditions.
Now, I’d like to clarify that I love SpaceX and what Elon Musk is achieving. But I have to make these comments because what you people are saying is completely naive up to the point of borderline stupidity.
How dare you compare the skill of amazing pilots to a rocket that can’t land if there’s a breeze.
Just. Don’t.
Let’s flip it again. I’m sure a helicopter pilot could land on a penny. For a better 1:1 comparison regarding vertical landing, including weather, including a sea landing.
Have you seen how skilled a helicopter pilot lands on the deck of a navy ship in bad weather. It hover in hurricane winds to perform water rescues.
Don’t you DARE compare a skilled helicopter pilot to a rocket that can’t land in a slight breeze.
There are *many* good reasons why no airplanes or helicopters with human lives aboard are still not allowed to land with ‘autopilot’, even today nor anytime in the near future.
And no, ‘flying cars’ will never be a thing. Not in this century at least.
One guy in the background clapping. This has become so routine even though they are the only ones doing this. It is still amazing!

The droneships needs Starlink communication, so the feed is not lost on landing xD
