You bored me hook, line and sinker nearly all the way through this. But when I caught sight of Broome Manor, my face lit up and broke into a cheerful grin. I've already seen the engine's review, and you showed her off in a few more videos. Hope I'll see a whole lot more of Broome Manor, because I love her more than any other model (diesel or steam) you've got. Hugs and kisses to the one GWR Manor who has stolen my heart.

Sam, those southern coaches are of a generic Margate outline, following some GWR standards, however the window outline, dimensions and Maunsell style roof alludes to the ex SECR Thanet coaches that ran out of London to Margate, Ramsgate and that area of Kent. they were also of a decreased loading gauge in the body as the SECR had a mostly narrow loading gauge across its lines.

8:44 that looks a lot like a van used in Thomas and friends! 8 wheel ones were used as the mail cars!
I've been to a few model train shows, but I've only bought two items from those! in 2007, I got a Thomas Wooden Railway Dennis, and in 2011, I got an HO scale Athearn F7 A-B pair in B&O livery!

Oh yeah! It does actually - I have the proper Hornby Thomas one actually - it's very similar! Oh that sounds good - it's always worth just checking these places anyway!

Good haul there Sam, and yes Rodney, was called Rodney, when the class 50's were transferred to the Western Region in the mid to late 70's they took over some of the names of the recently scraped class 42/43 warships. Rodney was named after the WW2 battleship HMS Rodney en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Rodney_(29) looking forward to seeing her run.

Hey Sam. Nothing like a splurge in a good model show. Your Southern coaches are Maunsells but painted in Bullied Sunshine Green . Replica coaches were originally Mainline. When Palitoy stopped selling Mainline the Chinese factory which I think was Kader kept making the stock and Replica bought it and sold in U.K. . Eventually Kader set up their own operation which was Bachmann , which is why some of the old Mainline models (the Manor might be one) turned up in the Bachmann range. Replica is still on the go , but I think only sell spares now . Sometimes see them at shows. The Bachmann Mk1s available now are new tooling and not related to these coaches. They really are very nice and a good bargain second hand. Rodney was an Admiral in the RN which is why the Class 5- is named after him. For a while the 50s were named after Warships and I think Benbow was a battleship.

I got a Red Arrows LWB van at a boot sale for £2, sold on eBay for £12. And the diesel 50021 was indeed called RODNEY in real life, I scored it for haulage when it was in service years ago - and it was named after a warship, nothing to do with Only Fools and Horses LOL.

the triangular bumps on the roof of the break mk 1 is a southern feature which was a perascope for long expresses but hornby and bacman can't be bothered to make a different tooling!

Replica Railways used ex-Mainline tooling. By a convoluted route they were bought by Bachmann's owners, Kader. The Wrenn Utility wagon is lovely. I managed to source some brand new Southern green Bachmann MkI's recently for £17 each. Bargain!

Sitting here drooling over your goodies....lol Enjoyable to watch from start to finish...That's a fantastic haul...I'd say the money you saved from the other lots probably paid for the last lot. Nice one mate :)) You're quite right...model train fairs are a great way to pick up some good bargains as opposed to Ebay. I picked up some bits from a show, recently, and most of it was at least a fiver cheaper than online...and that was without the haggling...I must try some of that next time...lol ;) All the best mate :))

The class 50s were named after the battleships from WWII; Rodney is one of the Nelson class battleships, with distinctive three turrets forward of the bridge, each with three 16" guns. The original design was for a full length battleship, but the inter-war treaties caused it to be "cut down". Not sure it had anything to do with loading-gauge!

Love these unboxing vids mate. Those replica railways coaches are standard BR mk1 coaches. And replica railway was swallowed by Bachmann I think in the 90’s. Only just come across your Channel. Keep up the good work.

Your Hornby Southern coaches were the GWR coaches with a different roof. Hornby just changed the roof to make em look maunsell. A gripe us SR modellers had with hornby for many years

Sam'sTrains hey Sam, a tip for repairing locos, if you need to repair a motor and the pickup is a clip type, you can run it in between the wheels and if you get it on the rails it will work the same if not better, like my custom railroads no.3, a Chattanooga locomotive that's a modified 0-8-0 and is now a 2-8-0, I repaired the chasie to it and did that modification to the pickup and it runs better now than it did then, I've also never had to scrap a engine, dry rails and good running, Hunter

I hadnt heard of replica railways (googled them, they are UK based, over in swindon lol) before this video so I guess you discover a new brand every day aye? they certainly seem to have a bit more detail given to them comapred to the hornby railway ones.

Curious Fact of Today:There existed plans for Streamlining the only LNER Thompson A1/1 "Great Northern" because the people said that the look of the engine was ugly
This plans never come true because the Rise of British Railways in 1948 and finally the engine was Scrapped in 1962
