    It's always been that way. I'm in my fifties now, and when I was a kid, there was always the spoilt ones with their johnny 7 guns, and their top of the range go karts, etc. And then there was me, with a bit if a stick as a pretend gun, and a homemade cart made out of planks of wood and some old pram wheels.....lol!
    But more seriously, many anglers just want to fit in and be accepted. And it's mostly our fault. You see it on line all the time. People have chosen their sides, whether it be Fox, Nash, Delks, or whatever, and their practically frothing at the mouth in derision of others who use different gear. Hell, it's even spread to clothing hasn't it? Unless you're wearing the same label fishing gear your not Carpy.
    I am actually starting to go the other way. Don't get me wrong, I have some really top gear, but I have also started to buy some really cheap stuff too. For example, I recently purchased 4x11ft NGT travel rods for £15 each, and I have coupled those with Shimano 10000 ST reels for £40 each. The rods pack down really small, and the reels provide a balanced and very light set up. My reason was I was getting fed up of walking hundreds of yards from my car, lugging my heavy big pits, etc. On lakes that I know at most I only need to cast out 60 yards.
    It makes perfect sense to me, and yet I know people will think I'm a noddy. But that works for me too. If they dismiss what I'm doing, and take no notice, that's all good in my book.
    Remember, if you only do what everyone else does, then don't ever expect to be anything other than average at best!!!!

    To a degree i agree with you, nobody forces you to buy anything but more anglers are concerned with how they look rather than catching fish!!!! I know a couple of lads who had never even caught a 6 oz roach but spent 4 grand on carp gear!!!! 6 month later all up for sale having caught fuck all!!!!

    Rarely do I chat to an older, wiser and more experienced anglers and hear brand names mentioned. Often when I speak to younger anglers I find they struggle to mention any part of their kit without saying the brand name. I usually observe the older ones using less gear and having much more simple kit, yet it’s those same older anglers that seem to be catching more often.
    Saying that I only do day ticket fishing, I know many match fisherman take loads of pricey gear and buckets of baits into matches so there must be merit to that angle too, but it’s probably best to learn the craft for a year or 2 before getting carried away.

    learning the basics is what u need but theres nothing wrong with buying top end from start as most people upgrade so wou ld save them money in the long run. as for boilies. boilies are a must in most fishing cases as the stop the small fish and bream as pellets and particle bring in bream allways try and buy the best quality boilie you can afford theres load of companys out there selling good bait at 6.50 a kilo so much better than shop price find one that works and stick with it

    • @thedoncasterfishingshow7223
      @thedoncasterfishingshow7223  5 років тому

      I totally agree with your point the issue I have with boilies is for example N@$h baits are gona cost you around 25 quid for 5kg and that pellets are a cheaper alternative and 99.9 percent of the time it is what the fish have been feeding on since being fry

      Yea nice 1 bro yea there is always the problem of bream but if you use a 10 or 12mm pellet I found that the bream come in then the carp investigate bully the bream out and end up taking the larger bait but as I stated and I think a lot of ppl missed is yea boilies do work I just think that the carp are apprehensive of taking them cos everyone uses boilies now

    • @thedoncasterfishingshow7223
      @thedoncasterfishingshow7223  5 років тому

      Yea it can but when it's to long the carp have chance to suck in the bait and then eject it before the hook reaches their mouth so I was stating that a hair that is to long is ineffective. A hair of about 1 to 1.5 " would be sufficient but a hair over 3" your giving the fish to much to play with in my opinion. And that's all theses videos are my thoughts and opinions.

    • @2010wembley
      @2010wembley 5 років тому +1

      BigBoy Carping a long hair allows the bait to behave more naturally, especially if critically balanced, thereby fooling the carp. Horses for courses. Its all about confidence mate.

      @@2010wembley yea I agree but like I stated before a hair that is to long allows the carp to eject the bait without penetration of the hook I use longish hairs around an inch or 1.5" but in my opinion a 3" hair is far to long

    when it comes to it at the end of the day its just any anything else. Buy a car, buying cloths, buying what ever the point is you pay for the quality. It doesn't matter if you know much or not, they dont force you into buying the stuff people chose to buy this and that because they like it. Its their taste, yes its stupid if youre only just getting into it but thats just how it is. Also these (boilie scam video's) are irritating all these noddies don't know anything boilies work and they work very good. Yes the prices may be high but you pay for what you get.

    • @thedoncasterfishingshow7223
      @thedoncasterfishingshow7223  5 років тому

      First off thanks for the comment I appreciate it when anyone challenges the topic my issues in this video was to state the amount of young people I see buying top end gear then selling it at half the cost of what they pay for it look at FB selling page for a start and the issue I have with boilies is that they are over priced for what they are I have had success with them in the past. I just feel in my opinion start off small get a love for the sport then invest rather than blow all this money on something you think you might be into

    • @SaulPVP
      @SaulPVP 5 років тому

      @@thedoncasterfishingshow7223 yh like i said it is stupid that they do that, But its just their taste in stuff. Also im not calling you out or anything im just stating a point. If you dont have very good water craft skills then bait does not matter. probs 85% of people just find a peg and go to it or go to the easiest peg they dont ever try to look for fish which pointless youre fishing on luck and people complain why they dont catch on this and that. Thanks for replying btw i like debates. You can learn from them.

      Saul PvP I take on board what you say,if Phillies are the be all and end all to carp angling then why do we spod with particles and in that mix we include pellets,and if the truth be said they mop up all that and leave the boillies till last,that's why we have bivvies isn't it and beds cos they won't take the bloody boilles un till that's all that's left and then fuck me we glug them and air dry them ?
