You could have mentioned Liv Ullmann. She's mostly in Swedish movies, but still, she's a big name in cinema. And I had no idea Grieg was norwegian! Very good video :)

I love your videos, this one in particular is very informative and heart-warming. :)
I've been studying Norwegian language, literature and culture for four years now in my homeland, and Norwegians never cease to amaze me culturally, with their ideas, innovations and outstanding achievements in almost every possible field (from human rights, polar researching, politics, to jazz music, experimenting with literary forms and expressions and art in general), and last but not the least, with their warm and good nature as people. :) Jon Fosse, Fridtjof Nansen and Tord Gustavsen are among some of my favorite people in the world!

It seems to me that great Norwegians/Scandinavians have always been overshadowed by famous people from the great cultural "power houses" of Europe: Germany, France, Great Britain, Russia and Italy. It could simply be that population size of the countries is a major factor. Thanks very much for this video of famous Norwegians.

I feel that I could learn alot from you. I've lived in Norway for around 2 years now and still so terrified to speak the language. I have a huge problem with just speaking it. I find it so difficult. :( My Norwegian boyfriend gets so frustrated! But I guess It's just something that will come in time.
So I came across your videos and find myself knowing things about Norway that I didn't know before. And for that I thank you!! Keep doing what you're doing!

I can't believe you didn't mention novelist: Ole Edvart Rølvaag. We here in America of course know him but I understand his writings were much better known in Norway even though he had moved to America because his novels were about Norwegians who had come to America to homestead.

Quisling is INfamous--his name is the Norwegian word that means traitor. Amundsen & Heyerdahl were brave, but so were the Norwegian team that sabotaged the Vemork Hydro Plant in WWII--& survived. Edvard Grieg had Scottish ancestry: his greatgrandfather (name was spelled Greig then) settled in Bergen c.1770. You couldn't name everybody: I'd add singer Kirsten Flagstad. Trivia: Canadian pianist Glenn Gould's maternal grandfather was cousin of Edvard Grieg.
    Have a nice day.
