You could have mentioned Liv Ullmann. She's mostly in Swedish movies, but still, she's a big name in cinema. And I had no idea Grieg was norwegian! Very good video :)
Men, men, men, MAGNUS CARLSEN!
+Jackerco Enig, men se litt på når denne videoen er fra ;) Det var lenge før Magnus Carlsen-kaoset...
***** :)
I love your videos, this one in particular is very informative and heart-warming. :)
I've been studying Norwegian language, literature and culture for four years now in my homeland, and Norwegians never cease to amaze me culturally, with their ideas, innovations and outstanding achievements in almost every possible field (from human rights, polar researching, politics, to jazz music, experimenting with literary forms and expressions and art in general), and last but not the least, with their warm and good nature as people. :) Jon Fosse, Fridtjof Nansen and Tord Gustavsen are among some of my favorite people in the world!
Norge, kjempers fødeland.
You are hilarious. Love it!
Thanks Lucy :)
I don't know a lots of famous norwegians, but Andreas Thorkildsen, Trond Fausa Aurvåg and especially Svend Karlsen are famous norwegians i like the most. Greetings from Finland.
You didn't mention Espen Lind! :) Very good video! I'll subscribe! Love your country, Espen has many fans here in Argentine :D
Hei! I subscribed to you solely for your Norwegiany videos and charming way of explaining things (: This was really interesting, I hope you keep them coming!
Dimmu Borgir, Satyricon, Darkthrone, Immortal, Mayhem, Burzum, Gorgoroth and 1349 is some of Norways most famous bands and artists. Black Metal
You also forgot Sondre Norheim, Henning Kvitnes, Tora Berger, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, Marit Bjørgen, Knut Haukelid, Gunnar Sønsteby and let's not forget Sven Føyn fra Tønsberg. I give personal thanks to Sven Føyn for his marvellous industrial invention. He is a hero.
It seems to me that great Norwegians/Scandinavians have always been overshadowed by famous people from the great cultural "power houses" of Europe: Germany, France, Great Britain, Russia and Italy. It could simply be that population size of the countries is a major factor. Thanks very much for this video of famous Norwegians.
I was waiting for the 2014 olympics athletes to mentioned like Ståle Sandbech or Silje Norendal, but they didnt come. But great video nonetheless :)
I actually don't know who they are... :/ are they skiers?
+teaandtoastify They are snowboarders. I was waiting for them too lol! Torstien Horgmo and Mikkel Bang are also very good.
The only famous Norwegian is Solskjaer
Kjempe bra, kan du lage litt om håndball?
love your video's...Love a-ha and Kurt Nilsen should be world famous especially since he won World Idol. Glad he is finally coming to the United States--maybe he will be finally
I feel that I could learn alot from you. I've lived in Norway for around 2 years now and still so terrified to speak the language. I have a huge problem with just speaking it. I find it so difficult. :( My Norwegian boyfriend gets so frustrated! But I guess It's just something that will come in time.
So I came across your videos and find myself knowing things about Norway that I didn't know before. And for that I thank you!! Keep doing what you're doing!
Ibsen
Hi! Could you do a video where you speak entirely på norsk?? Det ville vart kjempefint :D
"Where trees grow, men can go" - Knut Haukelid.
What about Alan Walker and Kygo? :D
browsing the links you shared, thanks
No problem :D
I can't believe you didn't mention novelist: Ole Edvart Rølvaag. We here in America of course know him but I understand his writings were much better known in Norway even though he had moved to America because his novels were about Norwegians who had come to America to homestead.
You forgot Kaizers Orchestra! :o
Where's Varg Vikernes?
He commented on one of my other videos so I decided to not poke the bear..
Where are Nansen???
So many awesome norwegians, so little time! :)
Trygve Lie... first Secretary General of the UN
My great, great, great, great grandfather is Roald Amundson
Both Roald Dahl's parents were from Norway but he grew up and lived in England.
I'd wish you'd mention more women, such as Amalie Skram, or some of the many, many excellent athletes (Marit Bjørgen, Suzann Pettersen, Christina Vukicevic, Grete Waitz, Sonja Henie, Liv Grete Skjelbreid Poirée, Therese Johaug...).
Quisling is INfamous--his name is the Norwegian word that means traitor. Amundsen & Heyerdahl were brave, but so were the Norwegian team that sabotaged the Vemork Hydro Plant in WWII--& survived. Edvard Grieg had Scottish ancestry: his greatgrandfather (name was spelled Greig then) settled in Bergen c.1770. You couldn't name everybody: I'd add singer Kirsten Flagstad. Trivia: Canadian pianist Glenn Gould's maternal grandfather was cousin of Edvard Grieg.
Have a nice day.
You could maybe do a similar video just with Denmark People like Mærsk and Mikkel Kessler
I don't really know much about famous danish people... :/
You've forgotten Marita Solberg, one of the most incredible opera singers ever (at least for me).
Don't mean to nag but what do you think about Disney's upcoming movie Frozen? Its heavily based on Norway and the actual kingdom of Arendelle in thw movie is built on a Fjord. Thanks!
they do indeed! :D I'd love to see what you'll come up with ;)
What about Ane Brun? Nearly everybody knows who she is in Turkey. :D
how about Sigrid Undset?
Alan Walker!
John Arne Riise :P
Hvor bor du? England eller Norge? Og en ting til: Jeg har veldig lyst til å starte en youtube kanal, og jeg er ganske god i engelsk.. men jeg vet ikke om jeg er flink nok. Hva gjør jeg?
The richest people in Norway are the ones with the least money :-)
You also forgot Sondre Norheim, Henning Kvitnes, Tora Berger, Ole Einar Bjørndalen, Marit Bjørgen, Knut Haukelid, Gunnar Sønsteby and let's not forget Sven Føyn fra Tønsberg.
I give personal thanks to Sven Føyn for his marvellous industrial invention. He is a hero.
Ade Larsen it's pronounce "Føyn", But you write it as "Foyn". And I agree, a fantastic inventor (even tho Jacob Nicolai Walsøe had already come up with the idea, But didn't have the money to build it).
gotta say, Norwegians rule!! I love a Nowegian, and I think it is for life!!
Sivert Høyem and Marit Bjørgen and Therese Johaug!
Jostein Gaarder? I dunno if you guys like him there in Norway, but since I'm from Brazil - two hemispheres away lol - and have read 3 books by him (Sofies verden, Kabalmysteriet and Hallo? Er det noen her?), I guess he can fairly be considered "famous"!! =)
He's from Oslo, right? If the wikipedia is wrong, just ignore me!! lol
what about fridtjof nansen kurt nilsen cantus
No mention of Jo Nesbø? I know he's relatively new to the writing scene, but his books are selling like hotcakes the world over.

You mention A-ha and don't even mention Kaizers Orchestra who happen to sing in your own language and are amazing. I know they aren't 'famous' as such outside of Norway, but come on, A-ha aren't fit to lick the boots of those guys. Skam deg!
