    It's a good thing you did non-OEM style fogs, because you'd be hating yourself for having to take the wheel off, since the light stalk can only be removed after you take the wheel off... At least the wiper stalk you just have to take the cowl off. Just gotta get a good deal on some S parts so I can scoop those/some S trim wheels (Not got the $$$ for fancy rims/lowering, so going OEM alloys seems like a smart move if I can get junkyard prices...)

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 роки тому

      Yeah I would of hated to have to take off the steering wheel and air bag again.
      But that’s what I have been trying to do is source some cheap S parts to update my corolla! But it’s hard to find good deals because they are always so over priced!

    • @ProjectBlackweather
      @ProjectBlackweather 2 роки тому

      @@BrandonStellmach I was lucky, and when I had to do the PITA that was replacing the vent selector wire, noticed that I don't have the relay plugs, so I didn't end up blowing $$ on that stalk. Gonna try for rims closer to when I need tires so I can just get the TMPS sensers swapped over and new tires. Probably will get the fogs done sooner tho.
      Wish there was an option for heated seats, since those are dope, esp if you do manual work and have a sore back

    • @BrandonStellmach

      That’s what I did. I got a hole in one of my tires. And the rest were going to needed to be replaced. So I just orders wheels and tires together!
      I have heard some people had heated seats in the corolla, but I’m pretty sure it was a dealer option. And not an option with the car! But heated seats would be great!

    That steering wheel is great, that steering wheel only had to come from a xle Corolla model with jbl system or an Xrs model because those two models came with the two keys and the regular corolla S steering wheel only came with one key, great upgrade!!👍

    Hi, thanks for documenting this mod. I would like to duplicate exactly this wheel swap in my carols and I have a couple questions.
    1. Why can’t you just plug in the airbag from the new steering wheel? Why do you think it necessary to carry over the old one?
    2. Why do you want to change the clock spring?
    Thank you!

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  Рік тому

      The reason why I used my old air bag, is because to buy a new air bag is really expensive, and since I already have a good airbag that’s why I used mine.
      And for the clock spring, I only changed out the clock spring because I was adding steering wheel controls to my car. If your car already has steering wheel controls, or if you are not adding steering wheel controls then you will not need to swap it out.

    • @TheRealVolk
      @TheRealVolk Рік тому

      @@BrandonStellmach Okay, gotcha, thanks for that info. My current steering wheel doesn’t have audio controls, so I guess I’ll need to add a new clock spring to this project. Also thanks for the swift reply. 🐾

      @BrandonStellmach  Рік тому

      @@jeansanchez2277 that is a good question, you might need a different wire harness for between the steering wheel and the clock spring.

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 роки тому

      It all depends on how much you shop around and look on eBay and salvage yards. I paid $90 for my steering wheel used from eBay. I see them range from $70-250.

    You have a link for the steering wheel??

    • @BrandonStellmach
      @BrandonStellmach  2 роки тому

      I don’t have a link, because the one I bought was used on eBay. But the best way to find one is search eBay for 2009-2013 corolla steering wheel. And refine the search to used. And look for the one you want. There are more for sale, just some of them are the basic model corolla, or you might find what I found just not in a good condition. I hope that helps. It’s hard to give links to used items.

      I'm in the process of adding stereo controls to my 2005 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. I got the modified air bag, and the steering wheel control switches (from a Toyota Camry Land Cruiser, 04-07 2006) from Ebay. (I was able to mount the switches to the steering wheel,) I thought with my Kenwood Echelon 1057XR and the mmr2 steering wheel interface, every thing would wire up, WRONG !! ) It looks like I need to change out my existing clock spring and add a clock spring from a Toyota Camry Land Cruiser, so the wire harnesses will be compatible! Has anyone done this mod? and is changing out the clock spring the answer??

    • @wyslink9354
      @wyslink9354 2 роки тому

      @@dougmead7669 if they latch together, then you can do just what I said. Push the pins out the back of one connector and place them back, into the correct hole in order to line up with the other end, making the connection. Ive never exactly done this for any clock springs but its certainly doable. don't just rely on color matching, actually learn what each wire is for first by looking up schematics.. there are also harness' you can buy for using steering wheel controls on aftermarket radio that should provide good color coding..

    • @dougmead7669
      @dougmead7669 2 роки тому

      @@wyslink9354 If I can use the existing clock spring, IF the wires are compatible, I would still have to line up the pins. That would be awesome, then I wouldn't have to worry about the other harnesses making up to another clock spring. I just have to figure out what the wires are, like you said. I don't think it's going to be an issue, I was able to change out the air bag, and able to secure the stereo controls to the steering wheel! (Like they were meant to be there from the OEM) Thanks again!
