I watched this video for the first time when I was in middle school and now again as a 23 year old college graduate with a full time job, a wife, and an entire 10 years of life experience. being able to come back and listen to this music and watch what TF2 used to be for me and so many others is a blessing. A blip of my life recaptured through a 11 minute video on TF2 jumping.
It's like watching a graceful crane blow itself up over and over again.
I dont even play tf2 anymore but i took alot of inspiration from this video and have revisited it ever since. Anybody 2021 watching this?

I watched this vid 3 years ago... I started TF2 7 years ago and honestly it kills me seeing how TF2 just isn't the same. It's not "dead" but it's not fun without the community you grew up with, with the same 30 people going to the same 3 turbine servers just having fun and making friends and having the time of your life. Staying up late playing turbine until 5 AM on a summer night just chatting quietly is just part of the experience that just won't happen again. This video really is pure nostalgia and awesomeness. I really miss this community. Thanks quba!

The difficult aspect of this jump map is consistency, it's clear that they're all possible, people just couldn't do them since they weren't consistent enough.

Its not boring actually. When you are doing any type of rocketjumping you need very strong concentration. For all those jumps that have multiple syncs in a row when you get to the ground and are looking up you are basically in limbo waiting until the rockets get closer to you for you to act.

The water has a bit of an accelerating force when you're standing on it. Ever notice how if you're at the edge of water and a normal ledge to get back on your feet, the water sort of pushes you up without you having to press the jump button? That's what happens here, the water pushes you up because of this simple fact, that's also why the timing for some of those jumps is really weird too, it has to be in that sweet spot.

Rewatching this for the 100th time. Its actually a very good video and is entertaining and is a really good "showcase" of the map if you want to call it that.

This is the only sync-only jump map out there I think, so if you want to practice sync jumping it's the best place. If you've never even successfully done a sync or double-sync jump then you probably won't even get past the first jump though, I know jump_4starters is where I learned to do sync jumps, I think the A course on that map has a really good sync jump for new jumpers, and it has a double sync later on for like the C course, and there's a few more syncs in other places.

It's fun once you get the hang of it. I'm not an expert but I do pride myself on beating jump_christmas in under a half hour

There is some pretty intense analysis on what room is needed to do certain jumps. You can just compare against this information and know if it's possible or not.
