Last Dance - sung by gay icon Donna Summer and written by Paul Jabara (who was out and proud in the 70's and died of AIDS in the 80's, arranged by Bob Esty who just died at 72 in 2019)... and was a song of my generation. Thank you.

Interesting to hear this group of your queer men talk about their major influences and LGBTQ icons. Not one mentioned Madonna! Even one generation previous to theirs would've seen Madonna chosen by the majority of the group! It shows just how far pop & LGBTQ culture has shifted in recent years. Madonna has slipped in the national consciousness as have many other established idols, seeing their dominance evaporate as the next generation makes their mark. We really are now well into the 21st century and the century is now taking its own clearly defined shape. The final 20th century influences are fading into the rearview mirror. A similar thing happened in the 1920s. We really are in the middle of an amazing paradigm shift.

@@nah....6151 Agree, for previous generations Judy Garland, Tullulah Bankhead, Ethel Merman, Bette Davis & Joan Crawford were the gay idols then came Streisand, Diana Ross & Liza Minelli and of course Donna Summer the next generation included Janet Jackson and of course Madonna. Mariah and Whitney had their place in the pantheon of gay divas then Britney they have been replaced by younger stars and reality nobodies. It's an ever evolving cast of characters each having specific meaning to their generation some of the older stars loose their place and become forgotten while others endure and really do become timeless goddesses who have a place in gay culture. Madonna belongs to that elevated level- where she has just taken her place, loosing that dominant No1 spot after so many decades. Gaga and Beyonce are now at the top but their time too will soon pass.

It did seem a strange omission given the cultural impact of Drag Race over the past decade.
