  • THERE ARE 16 UNITED COUNTRIES APPROVED BY THE UNITED NATIONS IN THE WORLD. So what is it to be a neutral country? It is not to take sides with any country in wars and international issues. The country that declares that it will act in this way presents it to the UN and if it is approved, that country is considered neutral in the international arena.
    The date when Turkmenistan declared its independence was 12. December 1995. After this date, the United Nations approval process was awaited. After the approval, December 12 was celebrated as the day of neutrality every year. We also participated in the celebration of the neutrality day in Turkmenistan.
    OTHER NEUTRAL COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD ARE:
    Austria is now an EU member state and has been neutral since 1995. This decision supports the immutability of the country's borders and its external independence.
    Costa Rica has been neutral since it abolished the military in 1949.
    Finland is now an EU member state. The country's war strategy is to independently counter the attack of the country's forces in an armed conflict. The country tends to stay out of international conflicts.
    Ireland, which is a member of the EU, has traditionally had military neutrality. The country does not cooperate with other countries in the military field.
    Liechtenstein
    Malta has been a member of the EU since 1980. In 1983, the guarantee of neutrality with Italy was guaranteed by an agreement.
    Sweden, the country that has not participated in the war since 1814, is the oldest neutral country in the world.
    Switzerland being the second oldest neutral country in the world dates back to the Congress of Vienna in 1815.
    Turkmenistan declared its permanent neutrality and this event was recognized by the UN.
