Well if you call go around soon enough before the engine pods make contact, and the engines get spun up enough, the increased pressure from the turbine blade tip vortices-along with increased bypass air-helps stiffen the engine bay, thereby improving its bounce response. It's all very technical, but this is how a guy at the bar described it...
Well I think it was the better option because that jet looked like I would keep rocking and bouncing and do a hell of a lot more damage on the ground than in the air.
I know right? :( I can't kill them - turned off annotations, went to settings and killed info cards, it sucks we can't even move them :( That's the ONE pic I'm interested in!

I always look in and get angry, expecting something a lot more dramatic. However, I'm glad the crew got this sorted nicely. But that approach was too fast really. Thanks Maximus, for keeping it real. Well… it is not a landing because it did go-around and I think it is more accurate to call it a smash because parts of the plane other than the wheels did smashed the runway. So technically, it is more correct to refer to this incident as “smash and go”
Yeah if he was able to get it back off the ground it wasn't a smash. But there's gonna be a ton of paper work. Plus they will have to pull the plane from service to give it the old hard landing once over.

I would be very curious as to how much experience the pilot has. The underlying problem of the pilot shortage is putting low time pilots into aircraft beyond their skill set.
I know for sure that they had to re-paint that area of the airplane but they didn't know how to remove the paint. And the pilot said : " I know how to do it without stopping the airplane". It seems the company appreciated his effort a lot

Yeah this is about as hard as it gets before you split the fuselage in two. That plane will be out of service a long time because there is no way they just damaged the paint. They will have to go over that plane from nose to tail.

Apart from a somewhat late and insufficient flare (new guy up there ?) resulting necessarly in a nice big BOOM what appears here is a pod strike meaning either sudden high cross wind gust or pilot induced. As I dont quite see the crosswind I will go with the pilot induced input. Maybe the boom was sufficently high that the pilot went in some unwanted aileron input resulting in the pod strike. (Like if you keep your hands on your car driving steering wheel during a crash you will turn it unvoluntarely) FYI the external pod will strike at a very shallow bank angle in a 4 holers so not much margin here.
