Hi. I might live withing 1 hour of you, brother Florida man. I like Palatka, a lot. The riverfront has been transformed in the past 10 years. While many areas of the south can have bleak areas that you show, I can attest that in Palatka, Fl, a handshake and a man's word are solid. Show dilapidated houses all you want, but don't crap on my neighbors. You are too young to judge. In fact, no one is old enough to judge. Why did you not drive through "Ravines"? It's a marvel.
Thank you for watching and sharing your perspective! In this video, I didn’t judge anyone or speak negatively about Palatka. In fact, I appreciate the town’s rich history, its beautiful old homes, and the intriguing abandoned places it has to offer. My channel focuses on exploring small towns, uncovering abandoned locations, embarking on adventures, and even visiting rough or dangerous areas. That’s the kind of content I create here. I understand some people may not like when I reveal the truth, but my goal isn’t to please everyone, it's to share authentic stories. Thanks again for tuning in!
I really wish he would have showed parts of Palatka that are not so bad like the thriving river front, or the beautiful ravines. He only highlights 10% of Palatka Florida. If you would like to come back my wife and I would love to show you around. This goes out to any one else who does not live in my home town, please don’t come to Palatka and misrepresent this growing town. Is Palatka the best place in the world? No but it is not the worst place in Florida ether.
I encountered some positive, beautiful parts of Palatka what I put in the first vlog before this one. For this vlog, my main focus was on depicting the true condition of the area. Highlighting affluent and middle-class neighborhoods feels disingenuous when many citizens are living in the conditions I showcased in this video. If I'm ever back in the area, I will take you up on your offer. Thanks for watching and addressing how you feel.
The abandoned and boarded up properties look like classic Florida council housing or projects. Why they haven't been demolished or something rebuilt in their place is anybodies guess.
Same (4yrs ago). Lived in STA for 16yrs. Sadly it became too crowded & way OVER-developed. Decided to stop throwing our money away on RISING rent's & bought a cute little 3br house in a DECENT neighborhood in Palatka (not the one's he's depicting HERE. LOL!) right before covid hit for only $99K !!! Talk about in the nick of time. It was an affordable & viable option for "us" & we like it here & it's an EASY commute (only 25-30 mins) to St. Augustine for work & add another 10 mins to the beaches. We have plenty of shopping conveniences & new restaurant/cafés opening up all the time. The historic riverfront area is also slowly revitalizing & the beautiful views & breezes off the St. Johns river don't make the area feel "landlocked" like other Florida inland communities. It's actually a great location for it's easy proximity to nearby surrounding city's as well. We LIKE the slower pace & can easily find excitement or event's etc within a short easy drive. We also have our own great annual Festival's right here as well. It's a REFRESHING change when you're originally a SOUTH FLA Native (Boca Raton) & we're really glad we found it & are grateful to be here ❤
I live in Saint Augustine and have been here since 07……... The rent and housing costs are absolutely through the roof!!! It was a sleepy town when I first moved here, but not no more! Good for you it sounds like you made the right move !
Everytime going through palaka I notice this, it’s like a rural town with urban problems. But noticed the biggest hearts there too, saw two guys from opposite spectrum, one came out of his car to give a dollar to older handicap brother and said sir.
Nice video and great video quality. After Georgia Pacific was sold to the Koch Brothers, things went down hill fast for Putnam County. Everyone had a family member, relative, or friend that worked at the mill. Some of our most profitable years in Palatka were pre-2005 before GP was sold. The next ten years were spent trying to survive and at times very dire. Palatka saw a spurt of growth around 2016-2019, and we had an opportunity to sell our business and we got out. We miss the laid back atmosphere and simpler times we had in Palatka. That area has always been in decline but seems to have gotten worse than I remember it 25 years ago, thanks for the memories Tim J.
People make the place either beautiful or ugly. The government plays a role here too by sending some kind of people to this area of Florida for some reason. Let’s make it a nice place to live and help each other in the making.
I live not too far from Palatka, I visit the city every day, but I rarely visit the north side of town, which is where everything sucks, the north side does not have much stuff in the area to sustain itself properly, there are a decent amount of abandoned buildings on the north side, and its unfortunate to see how bad things got for the north side, but the south historic district is really nice I love this town, I truly do, but what I hate is how bad the upkeep is for the north side, and how bad people struggle in the north side.
I use to live on 6th street downtown by the First Baptist Church. Attended Campbell Elementary and Palatka South back in the 70’s The Ravine Gardens and The City Dock on River Street were two of my favorite places to go.

The problem with Palatka is the smell and bad air. The Pulp Mill pumps tons of sulphur dioxide in the air from processing trees to paper. Every time I pass through Palatka, I have a disturbing coughing episode.
They have corrected the problem with the smell. I have lived here all my life and trust me the smell at times was awful for a lot of people but it didn't bother me. You ignored the beautiful neighborhoods throughout Palatka. Did you drive down River street and see the beautiful homes. Did you drive through the classic north and south districts near downtown loaded with beautiful classic homes.
My channel focuses on exploring small rural towns, historic landmarks, old buildings, and abandoned properties. When you enter Palatka, one of the first things you notice is the abundance of abandoned buildings, especially in the heart of the city, the downtown area. These abandoned structures, along with Palatka's rich historic sites, contribute to the unique charm of this Florida town. That’s exactly what this video highlights. Thanks for watching!
So far, you’re not showing all of Palatka Florida, USA. The parts you are showing are in need of repair. Yet you are missing this weekend that blue crab festival and that is a moneymaker for the city. You seem more concerned about what is abandoned or in disrepair. All cities have this type of area where things need to be fixed or they need to be sold or they need to be torn down to make away for something better. I think the issue here would be for you to be proactive and start to help or contact the mayor of Polacca and find out what you could do to help. I have lived here since the 1980s and I moved up from South Florida. True it was a culture shock when I first got here. I learned to adapt. I think most people stay here because of family. God bless and take care! Palatka is still growing. But if you’re only going to point out the bad things about it, I don’t even see the reason why you are videoing this portion of Palatka.
I didn't come here to record a festival to give the event planners "FREE PROMOTIONS." My purpose was to document abandoned areas, and Palatka is full of them. Not all cities look like Palatka. I live in Melbourne and Fort Lauderdale, which are quite different. In my cities, abandoned buildings are rare, and if they exist, they're quickly bought and renovated. Palatka has many abandoned buildings, even in the downtown area. Those who live in the better parts of Palatka should be more disappointed in their local government than in someone who films the city's conditions. I don't live there, so it's not my responsibility to reach out to your mayor-it's yours. It's an issue what should be addressed at you guys city council meetings. It's surprising how quickly people comment that this isn't representative of all of Palatka. However, as I explore, it seems to represent a significant part of the city. Thanks for watching.
Considering I don’t live in the city of Palatka Florida, I can understand, whereas people who do live in the town should contact the city commissioner. I live in the county., Putnam County. Most people do nowadays. My area is considered unincorporated. There are many homes out here and maybe one or two convenience stores. It’s funny though! I just have to drive down the road cross through the intersection and it’s considered city of Palatka .
@@sandieharvey4939 Understandable. I like the small towns like yours. I shoot a lot of shorts visiting some of the historical houses, old abandoned building etc. One day I'll past through. Thanks for your input and understanding.
I believe Palatka would be a lot more vibrant if an interstate highway passed through it. Palatka sit off in corner by itself. Peace out to Vick's Supper Club and Lounge.
I live in Palatka and dont let this video fool you. There are alot of beautiful homes and areas unlike this. All cities have a hood, this is the other side of the tracks so to speak. Churches and communities need to pull together and make it better there. Palatka isnt that bad as a whole.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, I truly appreciate your input. However, let’s be real. When you enter Palatka, one of the first things that stands out is the abundance of abandoned buildings, including the downtown area which is the heart of the city. While these structures, alongside the town's historic sites, add to its charm, they also highlight a stark reality. Palatka has numerous neglected areas, rundown homes, and dilapidated buildings, with many residents living in challenging conditions. Everything I documented reflects this truth. Palatka does have some areas catered to the middle class and wealthy, but much of the town resembles what is shown in this video.
I think you did an injustice to Palatka as a whole. It looked like you rode around looking for only bad shit to put in your video. I can do that in Jax, St Aug, Gainesville, etc.
What you witness in this video is an unfiltered portrayal of Palatka. While there are indeed some pleasant parts in Palatka, we cannot turn a blind eye to the conditions shown in this footage. If the city wishes to improve its image, it must take action to clean up these areas. In my own city, you won't find homes or buildings resembling the ones depicted here. Thank you for watching.
Really? I’ve been in a lot of cities and most every city has its dirty spot or black eye. Kindly enlighten me though as to the pristine untouched city that you live in.
Im tired of the Comments that say that their are better parts of Palatka!!! That is a LIE!! I’m from there but my mother moved me and my brother away at a young age. We always visit family there, and the whole city is a Shit hole!! The City of Palatka, as well as The State of Florida, need to be Ashamed! They are renting Old and Dilapidated housing that my Great grandmother lived in!! Just roll your car windows down and let me know what you Smell!? Cause whenever I’m there I smell Old housing, the Paper Mill, and the Fishy River🥴👊🏾
Reading the locals' comments is quite intense. Some people ask why he focuses only on the abandoned aspects. It's not difficult to see: if you have issues with the city, then work on fixing them, because there are plenty. Also, do you even read his channel description and what it's about? This is the type of content he produces.
I understand that people like to defend their city, and I get that. However, they should be raising concerns at city hall and pressing the mayor to address these issues. Instead of getting upset because their city is exposed, saying "not all of the city looks like this" or "you didn't go here or there," they should focus on demanding improvements. I'm here to explore the abandoned and historical areas, not the wealthy neighborhoods that often overlook the struggles of the poorer communities. Thanks for your support!
Palatka used to have an ok mall and tons of antique junk shops. Putnam was the poorest county in the state. It doesn't grow properly or beneficial because the government hear is such a pain to work with. You try to build anything and they step on your toes every step. I could go on and on but your showing us in a bad light. Theres more here than your showing. Looks like a Sunday when most things are closed. Im really disappointed in this video. Anyone can drive around and film, stop and talk to people and explain if you want your channel to grow
I take issue with this video. My wife and I recently moved our Christian Bookstore TO Palatka from Saint Augustine, and we are blessed to be in a beautiful and historic part of town. Not only that, Wawa just opened up here, so did Long Horn Steak House, and Chick-fil-a is looking to open up here as well. Your video is deceptive, and presents an unfair portrayal of our wonderful little town. Come and visit us at the NTEB Bible Believers Bookstore, have lunch at the Magnolia Cafe and Velchoff's Corner, browse the incredible selection of gently used books at Needful Things, visit any one of the dozen of amazing antique shops, enjoy a cone at the coolest little Dairy Queen you ever saw, or have a cheeseburger and fries, as we did last night, at Angel's 1932 Diner, the oldest one in Florida. Palatka is a town in the ascendence, and we are thrilled and blessed to be here. Why don't you make a video about THAT? Thank you.
You should create a video about that. My focus isn’t on showcasing what makes you happy as a business owner; it’s about highlighting the daily struggles of the underdogs in this town. I aim to reveal the conditions they endure and the lack of proper upkeep in the area. You mentioned a gas station, a few mom-and-pop shops, and a restaurant, but what about the big-name companies that could open and provide quality jobs for the citizens of Palatka, Florida? All I hear is you praising the town and celebrating your business success, yet you overlook the voices of those who don’t own businesses, those who are struggling and living in harsh conditions. Yes, Palatka has its nice areas, but it also has many decaying and abandoned places that need attention.
All I see is opportunity for development. They need to attract developers by giving away the land and letting the, build homes people in Tampa, Jax and Atlanta can afford and watch the place explode.
You re driving around the ghetto. Of course that's ugly and trashy. Every city has these hoods. I'm gonna make a video and show the nice homes, our lakes, rivers, people, etc....
Let’s cut the nonsense! I’ve driven all around Palatka, and this is what the majority of it looks like, even in the downtown area. I’ve been there many times and explored the entire city. Sure, there are a few nice spots, but they’re definitely the exception, not the rule. Thanks for watching!
The only thing ℹ️ can remember about Palatka Florida was it was very racist. It was pretty much run by the KKK of course this was years ago..looks like hatred has taken its toll…
Only because he chose to show the poorest parts of the town didn't pay any mind to the thriving downtown area to the beautiful waterfronts that ravines and the beautiful neighborhoods that palatka also has.
I am giving this video a "thumbs down" because you choose be so cruel and snobbish as to focus on the negative features of Palatka. The only good-looking stuff you show are the courthouse, the riverfront, and a struggling downtown (which is in the process of gentrification).Where is the footage of the good stuff, i.e., Ravine Gardens State Park, a radio station that that is a pillar of the community, St. Johns River State College, the golf course community, a thriving Hwy 19 with big chain stores and opportunities for employment, the Putnam County administrative center, proximity to St. Augustine and Gainesville, a straight route north to Green Cove Springs, a general aviation airport, an Amtrak train station, and much more. Instead, you choose to show old abandoned houses. Instead of complaining about Palatka, why don't you buy those old properties and fix them up?
Palatka has many abandoned buildings, even in the downtown area. Those living in the nicer parts of Palatka should direct their disappointment at their local government, not at someone documenting the city's reality. I don’t live there, so it’s not my responsibility to buy up properties and improve your city. Why don’t you take action instead of complaining? Reach out to your mayor-it’s an issue that should be addressed at your city council meetings. It's interesting how quickly you in your feelings selfish people say this isn’t representative of all of Palatka, but as I explore, it seems to reflect a significant part of the city. I don’t care whether you give this video a thumbs up or thumbs down-both help the algorithm. So, thanks either way! The poverty rate is almost double the national average at 28.04%. That's bad! Besides complaining, go make a difference.
Get a life and learn how to do a real documentary. I moved to Crescent City two years ago from NJ and travel to Palatka often. I think the city is beautiful, especially around the riverside area. You focus too much on the rundown part of town which every city has.
To call it disingenuous is to deny the reality of what I captured in this video. Everything I recorded is real. If your town is truly as beautiful as you claim, then the entire city should reflect that. But the reality is stark-Palatka has numerous abandoned areas, rundown homes, and dilapidated buildings. People are living in poor conditions, even in the downtown area. My intention wasn't to expose these living conditions, but to show the truth. If you disagree, you're welcome to create your own video. The city's government is failing its people and needs to do better-not just for the middle class and wealthy, but for every single citizen. Thanks for watching!

Palatka does have some areas catered to the middle class and wealthy, but much of the town resembles what is shown in this video.
Many people that live here, that still work, have to work somewhere else. I spent $400 a month commuting.
Wow that's crazy! Thanks for that info.
Palatka is top 5 dirtiest places in fl my guy lol😂 live with it
you should lower the volume of the music so we can really hear you
Sorry if you couldn't hear me, I have fixed that issue. Thanks for watching. Much appreciated!
Thank you was just the first 5 minutes of the video great content
Them boys sitting on 30’s over there. That purple on purple was🔥
Thanks for watching!
Hometown of John L. Williams.
Thanks for watching!
Dang, almost every block you hit, theirs an abandoned house or building in Palatka.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for your input and for watching!
Dawg I live here you just lookin at the historical locations and crack head houses💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Thanks for watching!
I won a contest......1st prize a week in Palatka........2nd prize two weeks.......... third prize 3 weeks in palatka......
Congrats!! Thanks for watching!
Who is the mayor??? A simple program called "Cash for keys" worked in Saint Petersburg to clean up the city trash. No problems...only solutions 🎉😊
I’m not sure, but if that can help, you might be the one to bring it to their attention. Thanks for watching!
All I see is opportunity for development. They need to attract developers by giving away the land and letting the, build homes people in Tampa, Jax and Atlanta can afford and watch the place explode.
I agree! It's many things that city can do, they just have to do it.
@@TIMJMEANSBUSINESS After seeing this video I’m going up there week after next to check out some investment properties.
Hard to look at you 😔
Thanks for watching!
I had some property in Palatka for awhile.Glad I sold it.Palataka is a a Ghetto.
Thanks for watching!
The only thing ℹ️ can remember about Palatka Florida was it was very racist. It was pretty much run by the KKK of course this was years ago..looks like hatred has taken its toll…
I can believe that! Thanks for sharing that info.
Only because he chose to show the poorest parts of the town didn't pay any mind to the thriving downtown area to the beautiful waterfronts that ravines and the beautiful neighborhoods that palatka also has.
first time hearing, noticed all poor and living in equal amounts
Jerry, you don't have a life to get. Thanks for watching!
Lies!!! It’s a Shit Hole! Thee entire City!! Run Down Old and Dilapidated housing👊🏾
You drove through the worst areas of town and the housing projects. LoL this video is so disingenuous. There are a lot of nice areas of Palatka
