- As we have been using our Mark2 eBikes more and more we wanted a system to transport these so that we could go even further exploring. After looking at several different items and reviews we saw the Westfalia Bikelander tow ball mounted bike carrier.
After quite a lot of research we identified that not all carriers will suffice with the slightly added battery weight of an eBike, however, the Westfalia does.
We have used this for several weeks now and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this carrier, it has great functionality, well built and extremely sturdy. Why not have a look at this as an option if you are in the market for an all round bike transport system.

We’ve got a 4 bike Altea Strata DL which is also fantastically solid but I really like how small the sides of this one fold up when not in use as the Strata is massive so a real pain to store! Very thorough summary as usual, enjoy your cycling trips :)

What a pity Westfalia carriers can’t go beyond 60 mm tyre width ( ie 2,3’’) while most of electric bike begin with 2,6’’ tyre width. That’s to say no electric mountain bike allowed 😒 while Thule carriers can go up to 3’’
Good idea for sticking an extra bumper to the rear to reduce chances of body damage.

Creative design. If only Westfalia designed a conversion to 2" square receiver for the receiver hitch mounts for Yakima and Thule
We Have Fiat Ducato campervan conversion. Do you know if when the bike rack is tilted we could open the two rear doors of the van fully?
You would be best contacting Witter Westfalia direct as it does exclude some models and I wouldnt want to give you wrong information. I am sure they can help answer your question. Thanks for watching and it is a really good bike carrier. 😊

Really nice piece of kit. Does sound a lot of money, however, it's obviously a quality product. I'd prefer this to roof mounting..

Looks like you might be getting in to trouble, we have just seen the new Isonzo today at the launch. It looks great and the interior is very cosy and welcoming. An initial vlog will hopefully be out tomorrow once we have edited it. 😊

Shame that the tyre holders look a bit narrow - going to have to buy a thule to get capacity for 3 inches :-(
Purchased a similar product from Halfords, takes 3 bikes or fit an adaptor for 4th.
I found that since it has to grab the tow ball firmly it takes a lot of muscle power to push the holding lever down.
Can you fit and remove it yourself Karina or is this a Jules only job?
My partner does not have the muscle power to fit or remove it.
Just a thought for the less muscle bound.
Thats a good question... I will try it but I have a damaged lumbar disc hence I don’t do much lifting at the best of times. If I can do it then anyone would be able to do it! Try later today 👍
Right, If I had to do it I could but its hard on my back..it is heavy to lift but the lever is ok. 😊
@@HereWeTow Thanks for reply. Did not realise how heavy and difficult to fit they were when i purchased mine. It is easier to hitch up caravan than it is to secure bike carrier to tow bar. Respect for reply.
