- Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, Pro-Tech Environmental and Demolition of Grand Rapids, Michigan) performs the preparation for and explosives felling of a 230’ tall radial tile chimney located in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 27, 2023. Active powerlines suspended from poles were less than 15’ from the face of the chimney.
During WWII, this facility was a major contributor to the war effort, making special plywood that was used in the construction of military vehicles, combat ships, fighter airplanes and tanks.
The annotations are a great addition! A lot of people will be surprised how little explosive, carefully placed, took it down!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
What a spectacle to wake up to with my first cup of coffee, excellent as always CDI
Thanks for watching!
Entertaining and educational. I look forward to these videos. Another example of a job done right.
Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the annotations. I love the whoosh some of these chimneys make when they come down. This one did not, but still a great video.
No matter how big or small the Job. Perfection. Bravo Zulu
You dropped it into a pond of water, that worked well to keep the dust down.
The way it separated into three large pieces as it had its initial drop, don't think I've seen a stack do that before.
"don't think I've seen a stack do that before." Hmm... Apparently you should watch more CDI videos... 😏😇
@@toweri_li Trust me I do XD
I was referring more to that it broke into three rather than two, but above all, it broke than came back together before the tumble. Just interesting how that happened
@@sse_weston4138 Once they reach a certain angle, they collapse instead of tipping further.
Animation/info and stills at the end 👍👍💯💯
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
I appreciate it
another stack turned to dust Good Job CDI!
😊 that was excellent, the last of the old factory gone, with a minimum of toxic dust
Beautiful shot
These videos just keep getting better and better.
It might interesting to see a list of CDI's crews favorite shots, maybe they could relate some of the challenges of those particular jobs.
It's Friday, let's blow something up!💪
Gonna try this with some Legos and an M-80 cut into chunks. Wonder if I'll get it shatter into bricks like you did as it falls?
Far less dust than most.
🤓👍
On the opening monologue at the beginning of every CDI video - what is the last sentence? I can’t make it out….
Somewhat garbled, but “it gives me goosebumps to talk about it” is what I hear. Listen louder.
CDI founder, Jack Loizeaux, - "Got it all down to a science. It gives me goosebumps to talk about it"
@@TheLoizeauxGroupLLC Your channel deserves way more subscribers. Who doesn’t enjoy watching something being blown up (constructively) !
Thank you! Thanks for the support!@@tomrogers9467
@@TheLoizeauxGroupLLC Thank You! Your company does excellent work.
Propre et net ! Merci pour les infos. 50 lb je ne sais pas combien ça fait. Ça n'a pas l'air d'être une grosse quantité.
Merci d'avoir regardé!
Curious - how far away from the base did the top of the stack land? Looked like it was only about half of its height?
I wonder what was involved in building this chimney in the first place?
What's that in? So I can see it on google maps
What facility was this?
C.D.I. perfection . you forgot the water tower ?????????. lol lol
The Warners are still living there.
Bricks, anyone?
When’s the next wind turbine demolition😅?
Freddy d did it better 👎
Awwww, nobody yelled “Timber”! 🪓
True, but there was a really good post-blast laugh! 😂✌️😎
What clock when the chimney demolited?
