In this video I install springs, valves, seals, cam shaft rockers, plus clean up and resurface the head. I do not own either of these songs, no copyright infringement intended.
Good video. Just felt I had to comment on the lack of oil while rebuilding. The spring washers and valve stems. Also using polishing wax without a vapour clean too. Keep up the great work.
How did you decide on valve lash pad size(s)? Or did you reuse the “stock” ones? Do you do a rocker to cam lobe wipe test, or just check later when re-checking the valve lash? Good practice.
Thank you for the detail! Is this an N42 (l28) head? Are you using E31 or e88 cam towers in order to use the external oiling bar instead or an internally oiled L28 cam?
I’m sure it will run, just not sure for how long. Couple of comments: 1. Don’t think polishing the cam like that does anything but give you microscopic burrs that promotes wear every time you start up before the oil pressure builds. 2. You’re not supposed to take the cam towers off unless you will hone them for the cam to be absolutely aligned. But I suspect you know that. ;-> At least you used modern assembly lube. I’ve seen L24 engines built with only 30w oil.
So you mentioned spacer, I assume these are for the amount you milled the head. I did not see them get installed. Just curious what amount you chose to mill and how much the spacers cost. Good job keeping it real.

nice job! but ehm.. shouldn't you put the camshaft first and then put the rockers?
Great work man!

You don't lap the valves in into the valve sits?
What type of head is this one? N42?

Haslet Joe spacer went under cam blocks. They mild off the head untill it was flat again. Took a lot off.
I'm seeing a tube that runs alone the back of the cam on top the rockers. What's that for? I've never seen that in my 2 l28
old-school customs that's the oiling tube that keeps the top of the rocker and the cam lubed. I will show that in my next video.
I know I’m late to the game, but next time put your drill in a vise when buffing or just get a buffer on a grinding wheel. Be a lot easier.
