I used to be an employee of top priority sales for Costco , and we would give out samples of things like the diapers & shampoo & conditioner, and those things are just as good if not better than the name brand stuff . Great video ! I love Costco but I end up spending more than my budget allows when I go there 😔

Thank you for the testing and confirmation, I usually would go for the store brand to save money but always in the back of head believing that it’s not as good as name brand! But Costco is a weekly visit for my husband and I, we call it our “adult date” lol but we love getting groceries there even though it’s just the two of us.

Thanks for doing this video! I've been wanting to do my own comparison and just never got around to it. I work for a large food manufacturer and I know we do a few private labels. They cost less than our product and it is identical. I've learned not to become a label snob if I can find a comparable product for much less.

I was an auditor for many years for the largest grocer in the country. I can say without a doubt, that the many of store brands are in fact produced by the “name brand” companies. Not all of the generic are included, but most are indeed made by the big name manufacturers. I used to tell people this when they’d say they refuse to buy store brands because they’re inferior to name brand items. Many of us could possibly save quite a bit of money with this info. Good research Brittany!😊

Many years ago, when I was a (slightly bratty) tweenager, I remember grocery shopping with my mom and whining, “no, not the store brand!”
Mom had about had it with me and my attitude and said, “Do you seriously believe that this grocery chain has its own factories for ketchup and soap and paper towels and soda pop and etc. etc.?!? Someone has to make these things for them!!!”
I realized that would be impossible. Good point, mom!
My favorite Costco items: I love Kirkland Tortilla Chips with Kirkland Salsa! (Melt some Kirkland Cheddar/Jack in those chips, and it’s even better!)
I’ve shopped there for nearly two decades and have liked mostly everything-food, clothes, furniture, electronics, etc. And what I haven’t liked, they’ve let me return, almost no questions asked! (Sometimes they ask if an item is defective. I think they just want to know if they can re-shelve it or not.)
Part 2 (or 3!) would be awesome!!!! Thanks for your “spy work”, LOL.

Costco diapers were the best until recently. They were an exact dupe for huggies and such a great price but about 6 months ago, I noticed a change and returned our box. They got rid of the velcro near the waistband, that you also noticed and they soaked through quickly, I would smell urine in a fairly new diaper. It was such a bummer. I saw the same packaging etiquette at a paper products manufacturer in Idaho. It was educating and enlightening seeing near identical rolls of paper towels and toilet paper flow out of the major manufacturing areas into its packaging area. Different brands were packaged next to each other. They too were the identical original product, but just packed in a different wrapper. I’ve always found bargains in the second and third name away from the brand name, occasionally not, but I can usually tell the diff. My goal is to NOT PAY AS MUCH. I love Costco. It's our weekly date 😆 I have way too many favorites to narrow it down to one. I love their organic eggs, their stuffed peppers, cauliflower crust pizza, clothes, etc. I've never tried their detergent, but I love Persil. So I can't wait to try it!!

Love when I get to shop at Costco, I can spend hours and hours wandering through the store just trying to see what’s new since my last visit. I don’t go as often as of like because I live about a half hour away from the closest one. But even with my visits being limited, I find it doesn’t take too long before my savings have exceeded the amount of my membership!

I buy around 80% of all our purchases from Costco! From clothing to food to appliances etc.. The 20% is clothing as they don't really have many stylish/elegant options. Also, the clothing at Costco is a hit or miss in quality

Lol love the "vodka face" testing! 😂 We don't have alcohol at Costco in Canada cause it's regulated by the gvmt. (Which equals free health care for surgeries, etc.!) I'm not on Instagram so guess I can't win the gift card 😉. Thanks for the research, very helpful!

Thank you for looking into these products! I usually buy Kirkland brand, and am satisfied with the quality. However, recently bought Kirkland brand paper towels (which I've bought several times before, and they've been comparable to Bounty) but was very disappointed in the quality. The paper towels are super thin and not nearly as absorbent as they used to be.

I heard the Kirkland conditioner was Pureology too. I used to love it and buy it because it worked so well, but I've noticed it changed recently. It's definitely not the same anymore. Even after giving my hair a break from it. It seems to have some alcohol in it and it dries out my hair. This never happened before. 😕

I was cracking up at you and Ryan going full stealth mode in Costco😂 I’ve actually never shopped in Costco, but I have a membership (gift from mom). Being a single person with one kid I didn’t think it was worth buying in bulk, but your comparisons showed me that I could be saving a lot of money. I’m definitely going to give that membership a whirl. Thanks, Brittany!

As long as you don’t buy more than u need. I remember when I first came to US my BIL made me buy those huge bottles of spaghetti sc. He has a huge family and 5hey ate mostly western food. And I, new to US, rarely ate it. I had to throw away many bottles. Many other similar experiences. Costco gives good cash back on top of the savings if you have executive membership. The executive membership more than pays for itself. I mostly buy toiletries and food, tyres, etc.

@@janneke82 good luck but if you're single I recommend just going to the grocery store and use coupons. Costco isn't really good for a single person, I am taking the impromptu purchases into account as well. This is coming from someone who is obsessed with costco. If you do go, you'll have to learn how to freeze small portions of food.

My favorites are their nuts, nut mixes, steak strip jerky + most of their snacks! The rotisserie chickes are a staple too! Fiance gets most of his clothes there too. We LOVE Costco!

Honestly, thank you in particular for the battery comparison. Many times I have stood there, looking at the brand-name next to the Kirkland brand, and was wary of the untested store brand, so still went for the higher-priced one. I think I was remembering that batteries bought at places such as dollar stores are to be avoided, but I understand that this is a different situation. Thanks for conducting an actual test. The next time I buy batteries, I know what I’m going to do now.
