  • Here is part 2/2 of the Brush (bush) hog (cutter) PTO to hydraulic conversion. For the promised more in depth look at the hydraulic system on it, and a better more detailed walk around of it you'll have to stay tuned for part 3/2 unfortunately. Thanks for sticking around, watching, and hopefully subscribing! I appreciate it. This is my first time editing on this software, how did i do? see ya in the next one! -JasonWorksAlot
    thank you Jimmy, with To The Top Crane, for coming up with the name "Twig Pig" I formally stole it, and trademarked it on the internet, and whats on the internet is always real.... you can't lie on there.

    A+ on the edit !! That has to be the coolest swap mower ever. I would have you for a neighbor any day. You make your neighbor’s property value go up as you make these fantastic improvements to your property. I did have to pour a few extra splashes of vodka watching this. Next build should be detectable plexi shield with room to use your foot rest. Nice job man !!!

      Dall Tex hopefully my neighbors can see it that way....hahaha the clear confidence adder of choice indeed Comrad! I did actually build a shield, I was going to use plexi but was afraid it would get so scratched up so quickly I wouldn't be able to see through. I used expanded metal, it'll be in video part 3 of 2 :) I'm glad you enjoyed the editing, I like this program and had a little fun making it. Thanks for the support I'll see ya in the next one my friend!

    Wow! That thing worked much better than I had anticipated. Were you pretty pleased with the results? What would you have done differently? Definitely the face shield is non-optional and I saw you already addressed the plexi-shield for the machine. Maybe a Kevlar vest or a medieval suit of armor? Machining skills are very impressive! I noticed others were complimenting the editing, but I thought the music was ‘stepping-on’ your narration sometimes. Nice work and good vid!

    • @JasonWorksAlot
      @JasonWorksAlot  5 років тому

      psidvicious comrade psid! Howing are you doing today?? It did work better than I had hoped, if I could do it again I'd have done the build about the same, but I'd have bought a quick connect for the excavator. (I'm ordering one sooner or later when I sell my trailer I'll be going past the place that makes it, I'll probably get it then. ) switching it one and off is a royal pain because it's got so much mass to the left and right of the pin boss very hard to line up by yourself. I did make an expanded metal shield for the excavator but haven't had time to put it on, hoping to soon. Also haven't used the brush cutter since this vidja. Yes the sound was off in this one for sure I agree. This was the first vidja I did with adobe and I think the power went to my head with it. Thanking you for watching comrade and as always my friend DRINK MORE VODKAS!

  • @waltermattson5566

    It looks like it works very well. The excavator looks like it handles the weight very well even with it extended out a long way. I was thinking a flip down door made of something much stronger than plexiglass would be handy. What are the faceshields made of?

    • @JasonWorksAlot
      @JasonWorksAlot  5 років тому

      walter mattson it works pretty good, I'm finding that the body of the brush hog is kinda flimsy and needs to be reinforced. I made a windshield for the excavator out of 1/8" thick expanded metal I'll be putting that on soon. The face shield is only rated for chemical use and is made of either acrylic or polyethylene. I've already split one in half :/. As far as the weight, yes the excavator doesn't seem to mind it at all, the entire thing is really probably less than 1000lbs and the excavator is good for about 1300 stretched all the way out like that. I'm very happy with it. I'll have more footage of it up soon! Thanks for watching! See ya in the next one!

      Lewie McNeely comrade mcneely! Off camera.... because I moved out of frame... I tested it while it was only tacked in place. Moved it to full extension and swig full circle it's planted firm as an ox on the ground. The attachment in total probably only weights 550lbs or so though. Machine is rated for close to 900 at full extension over the side. And it would be an honor to be shown up by wifeyworksalot :) thanks for watching comrade and as always My friend, DRINK MORE VODKAS!

      I ran one of those hoes years ago with a 3 foot wide bucket but it wasn't unmanageable. A little nose heavy but nothing that couldn't be handled with a full bucket. You did a fine job and it ought to work well for you as long as no one but you run it. I've seen how borrowed stuff comes back.

    So which hydraulic circuit were you using? I see the length of hose running down the boom. Just motor and crossover?

    • @JasonWorksAlot
      @JasonWorksAlot  5 років тому

      +shawn coulter Comrade coulter, the hose on the boom is just for the auxiliary circuit in general. The machine didn't have the hard lines on it when I got it, and they're discontinued. These work for now until I can get some hard lines made. Currently I'm running the motor direct from the auxiliary circuit, I just idle the machine down and then SLOWLY let off the pedal to avoid as much shock to the circuit as possible. Next time I use it though I am going to hook up the cross over valve. Time was of the essence unfortunately so I did what I could with what I had, it wasn't ideal but it worked. Jason, i know this was ages ago but do you have specs for the hydraulic motor? I'm going to do the same thing for my tractor's front-end loader

    • @JasonWorksAlot
      @JasonWorksAlot  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately I don’t, however I can try to help you figure out what you need if you want.
      If you know what your tractor hydraulics flow, and you know the pto speed the brush hog was designed for you can plug them into this website and it’ll tell you the size motor. I buy my motors from surpluscenter.com
      If I were to do it again I’d under rate my hydraulic flow a little bit. I believe mine was 10gpm I should have got a motor based on 9gpm. (Oversized by 10%) It would have performed much better under load - it took forever to spin back up if it loaded down
      Hope that helps, best of luck with it!

    I would like to have heard the sound from your excavator and Bring-It-On-Hog as they ran rather than the annoying music. Also you were protected with PPE against flying debris but I saw you flinching at times. It would have been good to hear you swearing in Russian each time you got hit.

    • @JasonWorksAlot

      Chris Rowland in the next part I will do better to let the sounds of the machinery shine through. I figured most people don't want to listen to the droning of the machine the whole time, I'd prefer natural sound as well but trying to pitch to an audience is a tedious line I suppose. Yeah, the face shield saved me a few times, though I'd prefer to not test my luck with it as it's only rated for chemical splash not impacts- better than nothing though.
