    I just finished my 5th one of these bags using this wonderful tutorial! I’ve made two patchwork versions and three plain front and back. Four of the ones I’ve made were given as gifts and the last one is finally for me!! I plan to make more. The pattern is very versatile in being able to change the size to fit what you want.

    Great video :) I make my tote bags almost exactly this way except that I cut my lining 1/2 inch longer than the bag. When the bag is all put together, I put the lining inside the bag but leave it in line with the stabilizer so that a small bit peeps onto the right side. I then turn the handles back up the right way and stitch them in place - going over it a couple of times. I've never managed to get a neat finish with this type of stabilizer if I've tried to turn it to the inside - due to the double layer at the top.

      Hi Dawnell! Do you mean, you’d like to see the step where she sews the two exterior panels together? She has sewn it the same as the lining, with the corner squares cut out and the side and bottom sewn together, without leaving an opening. Let us know if we can help with anything else!

    At the beginning of the video, we're told that the measurements of the outside panels and lining panels are 20" x 15". I noticed that the Soft & Stable that is linked in the description is for four pieces of batting size 13 1/2" x 18 1/2". How does this work???

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  7 років тому

      Hello! That is a very good catch, thank you. She did not use the Project Pack Soft & Stable size, but the 35" x 58" piece, which she cut 2 - 20" x 22" pieces from before quilting to the outside panels and trimming down. We have updated the link in the description. Have a great day!

  • @lauralatino7530
    @lauralatino7530 7 років тому +1

    Isn't that batting too bulky? Did you have to adjust your stitch length and foot pressure to make it walk through? Thanks

    • @donelleashley
      @donelleashley 7 років тому +3

      I use Soft & Stable often and it's very smooth and easy to work with. You can basically wad it up and when you let it go, it springs back into shape which is great for bag making. Also, all of my machines just glide right through it and I have never had to make any special adjustments.

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  7 років тому +1

      HI Laura, we agree with Donelle, the Soft & Stable compresses very tightly and quilts well, so no need to adjust your sewing to accommodate it

    • @loriar1027
      @loriar1027 5 років тому +1

      I wasn’t able to find any Soft and Stable at my local quilt shop (they were out of it) so I got fusible fleece instead and got a very similar result. The bag holds its shape nicely.

    The video is very informative however, I can only watch it...I CAN NOT listen! I end up muting it because she keeps repeating "WHAT YOU'RE GONNA WANT TO DO" or "YOUR GONNA..." Very irritating! Not to mention the lip smacking between her steps. Like I said her video is good, but I can not stand to listen to her repetitive filler words.
