What a great idea adding the 2" or 3" fabric to separate the top and body of the bag. I will have to make one. I'll be using Lighthearted by Camille Roskelley.
This bag is great for moms and dads to use. Well made. I bought this for a baby shower gift. The recipient loved it!
Encantador diseño. Gracias por enseñarlo ❤❤❤❤
I made this bag years ago, and I love it!!! I just made another today, and it came together so well!🤩
Fantastic! Glad to hear you're enjoying it!
I really like the bags and was waiting for you to show us how the ties go on the sides of the bag . Not sure I will make it but it is lovely
The easiest video for Patchwork, thank you.
I had written instructions for a very similar bag but I'm more visual so this was RIGHT ON TIME! Thanks so much, now I can finish my bag.
I've been boxing the corners with a much more difficult technique. Why didn't I know about this way? It's so much easier!!
Thank you for such a wonderful tutorial and for taking the time to do this. The colors are beautiful and this video inspires me to go home and use a new charm pack I bought. Thank you!
Great tutorial very precise and beautiful bag. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial.
Thank you so much for sharing this charm bag it’s beautiful easy to understand! 👍🏼
Great tutorial!! I love your instruction on the boxed bottom!!
Nice video. In case anyone was wondering, I believe the pattern is for sale on their site somewhere which is why exact measurements probably weren't given. I just eyeballed it and figured it out and made one of my own for myself. I'm just trying to figure out how to sew the ties on so they look nice and neat. Thanks for the video.
+Annette Jones I would sew the ties into the side seams while they are being done.
+Phyllis B Thanks! I made one for my daughter's Girl Scout Leader and that's just what I did! She loved it!
+Phyllis B If we sew both ties into the side seam how do we get the folded-in sides? I still don't understand this. I think the ties on the sides need to be separated by a few inches so when they are tied they bring in the sides enough to make the bag look smaller. Maybe the pattern explains this but it would have been nice if she had.
I wrote my original comment before I actually made the bag. While making it, I saw the problem in sewing them into the side seams and figured out that I should sew the ties between the charm squares on the top row, which is what I did. On each side, I sewed one tie between squares 1 and 2 and another one between squares 3 and 4 just beneath the strip of fabric that separates the top and 9-patch of the charm squares. Wish I could post a picture here - it would be easier to see it rather than try to explain.
Phyllis B Phyllis B Oh, Phyllis, you are sooooo smart. I love this. Thanks for sharing.
Love the charm pack I have many many many! Going to try this pattern even tho there is no pattern! 😊hopefully I can figure this out.
Absolutely! You can find the charm pack pattern here: www.nationalquilterscircle.com/product/bring-your-own-bag-ii/.
Enjoy!
@@NationalQuiltersCircle Actually I made one using my denim fabric and my breast cancer on the inside!! Turned out okay did not having a pattern. I made small ones for girls using Dr Suess charm pack and his yardage inside no pockets tho! I have orders for 2 lol 😂 sew Thank You
Thank you for sharing this, Ive just finished making one and love it!! 😊😁
Absolutely brilliant..thank you so much for making it look so easy...
Absolutely loved the how to on making a box bottom. I have been doing them for a while but have been guessing. I definitely use this now. Thanks
OMGOSH I love that tote
Love the bag and the video is easy to follow. Great job! The only thing I would do different on mine is to sew the pocket right sides together, turn then topstitch to at the bottom. I would only do this because there would be not raw edges inside the pocket. But that's just me;)
I love your video and your instructions. You make it sound so easy.
I really enjoyed this tutorial and appreciate your cheerful, pleasant voice! Nicely done!
Belíssimo trabalho em retalhos.👍
Thank you for a very cool tutorial.
thank you! I made two of them!
Thank you. Nice video like always.
Beautiful bag.

Thank you for such a nice tutorial! You are very nice and easy to understand. I am a new sewer and I cant figure out how and when to put those adorable side ties on. Could you help? Thanks
I love the bags, they are beautiful!! Is there a tutorial on how to add the appliqué?
Unfortunately we do not have a tutorial for adding this specific
applique, however we have several great tutorials on how to add other
applique shapes:

Love the bag. Is there a printed pattern?
The band looks to be 5 inches wide by 21.The small strip looks to be 1 1/2 by 21.
Handles look quiet short ,I love the pockets I haven’t seen that before ,all measurements would of made this video perfect
Please add how the ties are attached. Not sure how to do that so it looks finish. Thanks great vedo, easy to follow

Cheers,

Nice video & nice bag but I would've loved to see you actually sew the bag, you see I've never quilted in a beginner.
Awesome video! I only wished you gave the viewers all the measurements so that we don't need to guess.
It’s a fee based subscription and then you will get to see everything.
I wish she would tell us upfront that we need to pay for subscription so we don’t waste our time watching something I won’t make.
Can I do this cutting pieces of fabric from clothes?
What sizes are the pieces for the bags????
What kind of infusable fleece do you use?
I believe that if you are going to teach to sew a handbag, and since we are not all quilters like you, you should give the bag dimensions, along with the length of the straps, etc., otherwise, this video is not good formuch other than guessing what dimensions and other stuff missing to complete the bag....
Hi, Here is a link to an article with more information and measurements about the bag and also a link to the full pattern:www.nationalquilterscircle.com/article/oh-so-charming-charm-square-quilted-totes/
Nice video tutorial ! But can u specify the measurements for the handles or the width for the top patch :(

In quilting your own bag, use your stash to create your monogrammed bag. Both large and small bag can be made from this pattern and in multiple sizes.

Is there a printed pattern?
NO, THE WHOLE POINT IS TO GET YOU TO BUY THE PATTERN !
it works in a pinch...pardon the pun
Ha! We always love a good pun.
What length did you make the handles?
You didn't tell us the approximate length.
Yeah, how she's going to make a bag and not tell us the measurements.
I’m attempting my first charm bag. What are the sizes I cut the material for the lining and the straps?

How do you get the long bands of fabric? If you only have 5 inch squares?

Where can I buy the charm packet oh cherry oh ?
Hi, Dawn. This particular fabric is no longer available. The manufacturer is Moda and the designers are "Me and My Sister." They often design similarly colored cheerful lines.
Thanks for the tutorial. Can you please explain how to attach the ties? Thanks

Thanks for this tutorial, exactly the inspiration I was looking for! The Charm Packs are a true boon to quilters especially beginners like myself. I noticed you used a section of fabric the same as one of the squares in the pack for the top of your bag. How would one obtain such a piece to compliment the Charm or Layer Packs.
The bag that made in the video doesn’t stand up on its own, where the bags shown at the beginning could stand up independently. Is it a different kind of interfacing?

I purchased your pattern because you say in comments that it tells how to attach the side ties. I don’t see these instructions in your pattern anywhere. Can you please direct me where in the pattern I will find this.
Hello, here is a link to an article where is gives a little direction on the handles: www.nationalquilterscircle.com/article/oh-so-charming-charm-square-quilted-totes/
National Quilters Circle I am not referring to the handles, I am referring to the ties on the side.
National Quilters Circle Please assist me on this.
Laura, it appears that the side ties are optional and they are not included in the pattern. I do not have access to Sue's pattern for her side ties. I apologize for any confusion.
National Quilters Circle then a refund should be given to us who purchased the pattern as we purchased it because she stated and posted the link to the pattern to purchase it when asked about the ties, throughtout the conversations posted on this video thread. I have no desire to have the pattern except to know how to do the side ties, and because of her replies I purchased it.
no handle measurements!
NO MEASUREMENTS AT ALL
I realize this is 9 years old and no one will probably see this lol, but does anyone know when/how to put the ties in?
your directions are not explainable besides you give no measurements explain why we are not all experience
Too complicated and she doesn’t explain step by step.
I really how she do the bag but she hasn't show how to do them together by sewing it. Some people who has no idea how too do sewing it will be difficult fir them so it will be 👎👎
