On finding home. I have a friend who travelled the country looking for a place to live. He came back to our state, settled several hours away in Bend Oregon, and eventually moved back to the same small town he grew up in, here in our NW corner of Oregon.
Sometimes you may go looking for something better and not recognize the beauty in front of you.
I look forward to your next wild roams and where you may land.
    Be safe.

Hubby and I full time in a 5th wheel. We do what you want to do. We usually never stay in an area less than 2 weeks and we get involved with the local culture and people. With that said, with a bit over 7 YEARS full timing, we finally found an area (eastern Tennessee) we like to use as a home base and buying a small home. We will still travel, just not 12 months a year.

Omg yes! I make youtube videos in a similar spirit as you and what you spoke to about navigating living on the road, I can relate to so much. While I was living on the road for over a year, one of the biggest lessons was learning how to be on the road in a way that wasn't just conceptual but really rooted in what was true for me. It's so easy to get pulled around by exciting ideas or conceptual thoughts about where we should be (totally relate to "well, everyone goes to baja"). Glad you're finding your way with that - it's a big lesson! Sending love from my little corner of the world to yours

I live in southeastern AZ on 4 acres and the cranes are overhead in formation this time of year. They may have moved to Colorado or they are on their way about now though. You spoke about stopping and getting a nice piece of land. That's what I did around 7 years ago and I love it. I am 3 miles from the small town so that's convenient. However, I continually watch quality videos from people like you who are currently traveling and enjoy it so much. Interesting watching all these vanlifers or nomads now deciding they want to settle down, live off-grid, and homestead. It's almost as if they've run out of content on the road or it's become boring. I think many also realize that the online community of followers isn't real... it pays the bills, but not people you can physically interact with. Many UA-camrs are buying land and settling down in northern Arizona. It's good to have a home base you can retreat to between travels. Owning land gives you more security in this crazy world.

If you ever followed Casey Roman, she traveled on the East Coast vs many of the van lifers on the West Coast. I think finding places to park/stay on the East Coast is much more difficult.

@@mjlavallee2609I’m just over single girl vanlifer emotional struggles on the West Coast, if that’s the theme now.

@@jamesh1641I do agree with you, I think it has to do with parking and the weather. I’d love to see content from other places!

I think the biggest reason for this is accessibility to public land, access to the outdoors, and weather/humidity. I know that is the case for myself, at least! Battling with humidity and tough weather or living in cities/paid campground would have me off the road faster than anything, so instead, I have chosen to move *slower through areas that I consider ideal for my hobbies/lifestyle, not unlike what many people do when they buy a home.

Well, those are the best states for weather so I can see why people would stay in those areas. I’m here for all of it no matter what.

I think people assume that it is easy to make money doing this, or that the money is jut pouring in, but that is usually far from the case. I think it is understandable that some people would want more stability of living and income after awhile, and it's great that they are able to do that and not feel like they have to keep pursuing something that isn't working for them :)
