It’s all about spacing. If he stands inside all day, there is going to be less space for his teammates to operate. Guards penetrate and dish to an open man for 3. Edey is 7'4 with dang near a 8 foot wing span. He is 3 bills, and moves better than you are giving him credit for. We are not talking about Eric Montross, RIP. Edey is generational freak, and has only played basketball for 8 years. He is the number 1 overall pick in the draft every year before 2006ish. He needs to stay healthy, but he is a monster. You are comparing him to good college players that average like 15 and 8.. Edey averages 24 and 12 while shooting a 63% percent. Given the NBA success of players below the top 5 in the draft. He is a steal anytime after the top 5
@@cmoneyno5I will give you the 3 second violations, but the same could be said for every great big man. He literally has players hanging on him. Are those not fouls? He is that dominate that they have to foul him to try to stop him. It was the same thing with Shaq. In addition, they let them play in college. When he gets to the NBA they call an even tighter game That is my point he is a freak the likes we have only seen a few times.
@@cmoneyno5 Maybe you learned something this weekend. Basketball hasn't always been a perimeter dominated game. Skilled 7'4 dudes are a match up nightmare. Total beast. He is leading a below average school to the title game.
As a heat fan if teams don’t pick him, I’d take him. Also I agree in the sense that teams like small ball unless the big is a really good lob threat and/or defensive presence. But sometimes they still don’t last long.
on pick and rolls, if he get scored on 50% of the time, he is playable; at the other end, he scores more than 50% of the time and collect fouls on the other team.
Edey is so underrated people always say he’s slow and clunky but look at players like Jokić,Valancinuas and Al Horford they were slow as hell at their first couple seasons in the NBA and look at them now
Bro those players are slow but they’re NOT clunky at all. Jokic has a smooth smooth game. He’s just not athletic. Zach edey has a slow and clunky as hell offensive game. And he’s a cone on defense at the next level. They will pick and roll this man to death in the league. He’s getting torched on any switch he has to make. The nba is just a different animal. And when there ARE MULTIPLE guys his size that are even more athletic and smooth than him, he gets shut down pretty easily
All right first off he's projected as a second round pick, It's basically impossible to be a bust as a second round pick. And then second those big men you were talking about before were all six foot eight So all of a sudden when they go to the NBA they have less of a size advantage than they do against their typical college opponents. So Zach is 8 in taller than those guys and is still big enough to be a problem for NBA players especially one that wants to play small ball
@@liamconverse8950 we’ll see but I’d fire gm if they pick him second round, there’s simply better players than him, you’d have to pick him because “trust me bro my emotions say he’ll be a first rounder”
I think this guy is wrong. Edey can shoot I just watched him do it. He shoots free throws well. Play zone defensively with him no problem and he moves better than you think. Remember Jokic does just fine. Perfect fit Denver.
Edey shot 14/25 (55%) in the 3 point drill at the combine. He was ranked 5th in the 3 point shooting drill. Just because he may not move like Embiid and Jokic, it doesn't mean that teams can't use his big 7'4" size with like 8' wingspan and 300 pounds of power.
Agreed he won't be a lotto pick. Dead wrong that he won't be productive player. What's missing in the analysis is how swiftly he has improved in a short time. He's added to his game and improved his mobility. He now regularly screens above the 3 pt line then rolls to the paint with ease. Watch the Wisconsin game you saw him leave the paint and challenge an open 3pt shot, forcing the miss. Even scouts who doubt him say he's surprisingly mobile for his size. And has a soft touch. He has expanded his game to add a hook shot out to 12 feet. Doesn't currently need a jumper but shows good form in practice. Adding a jumper is one of the few skills NBA players do develop. Given his quick development in all other aspects, seems shortsighted to think he won't continue to improve. And the NBA is going big. Check the MVP candidates of the past few years. Teams will need an answer to Joel and Joker. Few can go big enough to keep them from dominating underneath. This is not the small ball era any more, teams are discovering you can let opponents gun as long as you rebound and score inside. Especially in the post season. The narrative used to say Gobert had become unplayable. Look at him now. Your analysis is 2 years old.
You're wrong. Edey should be a top 5 pick in this dumpster 🔥 draft. He's not the same guy yountalk about in this very video. Im a month late here, and you need to rewatch. His footwork is A++ Vision A++ He's 7'4" 260 easy. A brick wall. Yup. He's slow. So is Joker. He can't shoit as well but he's a better passer from the post. He's shown insane improvement in a season. Hes no longer a post up only guy. He can create. The baby hook is not an easy shot, and he's mastered it. That shot should look like a flick of the wrist and his is picture perfect like Patrick Ewing or The Admiral. He's boring. NBA scouts like boring. They like it so much its the prototype for an MVP. Hes got that Tim Duncan finesse game. You dont even realize he just dropped 25/20/8/5 on a 60fgp/90ftp shooting night. His floor is Steven Adams. His Ceiling is Tim Duncan. Mark my words. If used properly, hes the meat in a championship lineup. He's special and hes seasoned. Historically, this is the type of guy you build with. Maybe not the "Man" but more like his muscle. Every MJ needs a Worm or Wennnington, and thats Zach. A grinder.
“If a big man can’t shoot he is not worth a lottery pick in todays league” mark williams, Jalen duren, Derrick lively all lottery picks in the past 2 years but ofc you’d rather have a big that can shoot. Also he wouldn’t be guarding centers on the perimeter. He’d be a roamer around the paint like gobert. I don’t watch college basketball so idk if he’ll be good or not but some iffy takes on why he’d be bad
Have you watched Zach Edey play, or you just look at stats? He’s far more mobile and quick on his feet than you think. He’s improved a lot. I implore to stop reading stats and watch the games. That’s why people smarter than you who get paid by real publications have him being drafted and you as a UA-camr getting 2k views doesn’t.
In fact I’m literally saying his stats DONT MATTER. For instance his blocked shots stats are great, i said it won’t matter because he can’t camp in the lane. His stats are amazing, so I’m literally saying stats DONT MATTER🤣
@@HouseOfHandlesTraining You keep calling him clumsy and slow - he’s just not. I think you came in with an opinion you had years ago and you stubbornly haven’t been paying attention to his improved athleticism.
@@HouseOfHandlesTrainingI think the stat that ruins your argument is that Edey had the 2nd best lane agility time among centers in the last combine. That combine he also displayed his shooting ability that he has yet to implement in his game but can given the right coaching. That’s why he’s relatively high on those mock drafts because they are written by people that know what scouts are interested in and know teams might view Edey as a project with big upside
Zach Edey should be the consensus #1 pick overall. "Muh modern NBA," "Muh pace and space," and "Muh pick and roll defense" do not matter when you're a skilled 7'4" player who can shoot 60% from the field, 70% from the line, and dominate the glass on both ends. Who's going to stop him from doing whatever he wants in the post? None of the other college bigs who didn't pan out have anywhere near his combination of size and productivity.
Dude spends the whole video talking about similarities with past big men that didn't pan out. Doesn't spend a second talking about the differences between Edey and them.
Imagine a bunch of NEVER WEREs talking about a young man putting in the work and lining himself up for success at the next level 😂.. none of this effects your bottom line. You don't sign any checks. Why so invested? 😂😂😂
Ok... So by this logic, explain to me why Clingan is mocked high in the lottery & Edey isn't. Edey is a better shooter & faster than Clingan. He is a FAR better prospect than Clingan, overall.
Even Yao Ming might not be a lottery pick if he plays today. Yao was very slow, especially on defense. I remembered watching guards drove by him making him fall on the floor during pnr. To Yao’s credits he had a much better offensive repertoire than Edey. Yao have mid range, can pass, and most likely can develop a reliable 3 if he plays today.
Yao would definitely still be a lottery pick. His game is much smoother and he had more range. Edey would have been an ideal 90s-2000s center. The league has changed but I think Yao had more mobility.
he most likely will get drafted play bench for around 2 years eventually work is way up to a 6th man and start actually being able to shoot and move fast because the nba will force him to work on that and he will prob be above average for the rest of his career
He is a taller but not as strong version of Steve Adams. He will be some good off the bench 2nd unit punisher but he needs some better footwork around the basket.
He probably won’t produce in the NBA the way he did in college…that’s where people go wrong and expect him to still dominate. And unfortunately when a guy is taken in the lottery, the expectation is that they put up numbers.
You're crazy buddy 😂Zach Edey is going to be a problem for teams to stop. He would be a great fit in OKC something they don't have and can come off the bench and lay them big screens. He looks way better than Steven Adams out of college and look what the Thunder did with that guy. 😂
Everyone is so stuck in the moment of how the game is played today rather than having an educated brain and understand the game changes over time and time again lmfao
He will not be that good in the nba because if you watch him play he does not jump that high. Maybe he thinks he doesnt have to. In the nba he will be eating some of those shots he throws up.
but even in the 90's Edey would struggle in the NBA. No lateral quickness, he would be a liability defensively guarding big men who can separate and shoot.
He’s not worth picking. Yes he’s an incredible college player, but, he can’t play defense at the NBA level and doesn’t really have an offensive game outside of five feet from the basket
He couldn't dominate a game against a 16 seed with 6 foot 5 guys. This guy reminds me of the central Florida center a few years ago. Soft and without skill.
😂😂😂by the standard of a modern foul, I can probably get a foul called on me while watching the game at home. Sorry, fouls today are a joke. To the point where guys on the nba intentionally force contact with defenders to get a bs foul call. You saw how far that mindset gets american players when we hafta play internationally. How quick everyone forgot.....NIGERIA beat us.....because american players are soft, expecting a foul call everytime the opponent looks in their direction.
All the analytics love Zach, his measurable are top tier for a player his size. The lack of translation scouts expect seems to go against what we know about him. This will be one of those diamond in the mud situationsZ
His pacing is too slow for OKC. I watch all OKC games, and follow all of the podcasts. OKC already has one player that is exploited in Josh Giddey. They don't need another hole in their game. OKC plays a lot of spread offense to keep the lane open because they have one of the highest drive rates in the NBA. He is currently useless on the perimeter. The post ups would slow down the offense and if teams could turn him over they would initiate fast breaks off of him as well.
@@ssgstephen Lively is more mobile on switches. With Edey, you need to play drop or zone which I'd prefer anyways with teams taking quick shots these days.
The reason you don't appreciate E. and his talent is that you don't understand basketball E. can shoot just fine but your not looking at that and to be honest I think someone has told not to look at that...His size is the problem he is intimidating I understand, but I don't care about your problems I care about mine.
If Edey develops a turnaround jumper from 10-12 feet or a face-up from 18+, he’ll be scary. Free throw shooting is the best indicator of developing an outside shot, and he’s solid from the line. But right now he has no offensive arsenal.
Tbh I could see him playing a Walker Kessler type role off the bench. Also his free throw shooting being high means he has a good shooting form and might be able to develop a serviceable jump shot

😂😂😂😂😂
He only average 23 because the refs call fouls every time he miss a shot... Edey stays in the lane for 20 seconds on every offensive possession
@@RWE-1978 😂😂 skilled 😂
I can see him being a shawn bradley. Shawn bradley had a solid career.
There's zero chance Zach Edey didn't watch this video.
This guy is high... This kid will be in running for the roty
Underrated athleticism, idk why everyone thinks he's slow. He was way faster than Kalkbrenner in the combine
It's because he's 7'4. When your that big you look slow to the naked eye.
He’s 7’4. He’ll be fine. He’s bigger than most centers he doesn’t need to be as skilled.
As a heat fan if teams don’t pick him, I’d take him. Also I agree in the sense that teams like small ball unless the big is a really good lob threat and/or defensive presence. But sometimes they still don’t last long.
Bro, what? Lol
How about Deandre Jordan? One of the most durable centers ever!!
on pick and rolls, if he get scored on 50% of the time, he is playable; at the other end, he scores more than 50% of the time and collect fouls on the other team.
Edey is so underrated people always say he’s slow and clunky but look at players like Jokić,Valancinuas and Al Horford they were slow as hell at their first couple seasons in the NBA and look at them now
Zach Edey is MUCH bigger than the people you just named
valancunias wasnt slow when he was younger and lighter
But he can't shoot. So what's the point of comparing
And when there ARE MULTIPLE guys his size that are even more athletic and smooth than him, he gets shut down pretty easily
hes no where near the same skill level as those players you named
Jokic is slow and klunky, though way better skilled
He's basically Yoga Ming. Hopefully with great feet.
All right first off he's projected as a second round pick, It's basically impossible to be a bust as a second round pick. And then second those big men you were talking about before were all six foot eight So all of a sudden when they go to the NBA they have less of a size advantage than they do against their typical college opponents. So Zach is 8 in taller than those guys and is still big enough to be a problem for NBA players especially one that wants to play small ball
his play style, along with no jumper is a big no no my guy. No matter how emotional you feel it’s a sad reality
@@biorgoanylchem maybe you're the emotional one I'm just being logical
@@liamconverse8950 we’ll see but I’d fire gm if they pick him second round, there’s simply better players than him, you’d have to pick him because “trust me bro my emotions say he’ll be a first rounder”
@@biorgoanylchem Well maybe you're dumb
Your analysis is 2 years old.
jokic is slow like edey maybe Edey can develop a 3 point shot , he has not been playing long, he started playing his sophmore year high school
Starting early means you are naturally talented like pascal
You're wrong.
Edey should be a top 5 pick in this dumpster 🔥 draft. He's not the same guy yountalk about in this very video. Im a month late here, and you need to rewatch.
His footwork is A++
Vision A++
He's 7'4" 260 easy.
A grinder.
How do you know he can't shoot. Just because he doesn't shoot jump shots doesn't mean he can't.
Bro, cmon…..
Edey will prove you wrong.
He scored higher than Klingen on the speed test. I will comment on the relative skills of klingen and Edey into the season.
Bro, definitely watched🤣 you think Edey is changing a franchise fam?
In fact I’m literally saying his stats DONT MATTER. For instance his blocked shots stats are great, i said it won’t matter because he can’t camp in the lane. His stats are amazing, so I’m literally saying stats DONT MATTER🤣
@@HouseOfHandlesTraining You keep calling him clumsy and slow - he’s just not. I think you came in with an opinion you had years ago and you stubbornly haven’t been paying attention to his improved athleticism.
@@jwfriar oh okay! What stats would you “implore” that I stop reading then? Since I thought that was the issue. Not a misinformed opinion
Bro who can guard him ?
Right now his offensive skills is very limited, a little hook shot, dunks, that’s it. He doesn’t even have midrange, let alone 3.
@@Bohemian0522 I don’t think u realize how hard it is to master that hook. Tells me he’s willing to put in the work and get better
Bro who can he guard?
Yeah idk bout this take
Zach Edey should be the consensus #1 pick overall.
The BigMan In The Middle Game Is Back! He Will Shock The League!
You’re falling for it man
Negative, he's just big.. no skill at all, will end up like Hansbrough
W video suprised im more excited for guards than centers this year in cbb
What dominant college bigmen are you referring to? AD? KAT? Boogie? Embiid?
Imagine a bunch of NEVER WEREs talking about a young man putting in the work and lining himself up for success at the next level 😂.. none of this effects your bottom line. You don't sign any checks. Why so invested? 😂😂😂
He had the freedom of speech. Why does that trigger you?
@@wraynephew6838 you must be remedial. My apologies.
We will see soon enough on edey. hopefully the big ten refs dont get drafted with him.
Great vid man, was wondering why people werent impressed with him even though his stats look so impressive.
Ok... So by this logic, explain to me why Clingan is mocked high in the lottery & Edey isn't. Edey is a better shooter & faster than Clingan. He is a FAR better prospect than Clingan, overall.
Zach edey should improve his outside shooting for him to match nbas big man nowadays skills
Hes a 15 min a game player he will have a role in the NBA
I'd draft him in the second round.
What’s funny is when people say that Zach is just tall
Even Yao Ming might not be a lottery pick if he plays today. Yao was very slow, especially on defense. I remembered watching guards drove by him making him fall on the floor during pnr. To Yao’s credits he had a much better offensive repertoire than Edey. Yao have mid range, can pass, and most likely can develop a reliable 3 if he plays today.
Yao would definitely still be a lottery pick. His game is much smoother and he had more range. Edey would have been an ideal 90s-2000s center. The league has changed but I think Yao had more mobility.
I knew Zach Edey since 2021
Yeah right lets put money on that
Let’s do it
@@HouseOfHandlesTraining u do etransfer?
@@johnpalcon7570😂😂😂I notice he didnt take the bet any further.
he most likely will get drafted play bench for around 2 years eventually work is way up to a 6th man and start actually being able to shoot and move fast because the nba will force him to work on that and he will prob be above average for the rest of his career
He is a taller but not as strong version of Steve Adams. He will be some good off the bench 2nd unit punisher but he needs some better footwork around the basket.
Yeah he is clunky, can’t shoot, and will have bad perimeter defense. But so does RUDY GOBERT 4xDPOY
All facts
just popped on my youtube u nice with it keep it going
Thanks bro I got you!
steven adams has more skills and way more moblie than Edey
OKC could use him as a project player
Slightly more athletic Yao Ming. Thats all i see
You don’t see this
don't insult Yao like that
Birocratic soundtrack
Everyone is so stuck in the moment of how the game is played today rather than having an educated brain and understand the game changes over time and time again lmfao
He will not be that good in the nba because if you watch him play he does not jump that high. Maybe he thinks he doesnt have to. In the nba he will be eating some of those shots he throws up.
I have not seen him do anything other then post-ups on smaller players. Would love to be corrected if anyone has a link to something else
ua-cam.com/video/qbZVq79g8yc/v-deo.htmlsi=QTQGzXoidOSgBKGS
It’s a nice looking jump shot
Everything you said is right, but I'm still look forward for his future NBA career
Where do you think he will get drafted?
Spurs lol
Dude
lottery isnt 13 is it?
🇨🇦
Too slow
Pozignris 2
I mean there are some NBA big men who can't shoot that are worth a lottery pick. But they are all athletic unlike Edey.
but even in the 90's Edey would struggle in the NBA.
No lateral quickness, he would be a liability defensively guarding big men who can separate and shoot.
too stiff
He’s not worth picking. Yes he’s an incredible college player, but, he can’t play defense at the NBA level and doesn’t really have an offensive game outside of five feet from the basket
Facts bro
He couldn't dominate a game against a 16 seed with 6 foot 5 guys.
This guy reminds me of the central Florida center a few years ago. Soft and without skill.
😂😂😂alotta comments aging like milk on here.
If he was officiated correctly he would foul out every game. He wouldn't even have half the numbers
How quick everyone forgot.....NIGERIA beat us.....because american players are soft, expecting a foul call everytime the opponent looks in their direction.
eddy is a 50% 3 shooter . not a floor spacer?
is this a joke? he shot 2 3s his whole career and made one of them. you think thats worth anything? 😂😂
All the analytics love Zach, his measurable are top tier for a player his size. The lack of translation scouts expect seems to go against what we know about him. This will be one of those diamond in the mud situationsZ
Edey on the OKC or the Spurs would go crazy‼️
His pacing is too slow for OKC. I watch all OKC games, and follow all of the podcasts. OKC already has one player that is exploited in Josh Giddey. They don't need another hole in their game. OKC plays a lot of spread offense to keep the lane open because they have one of the highest drive rates in the NBA. He is currently useless on the perimeter. The post ups would slow down the offense and if teams could turn him over they would initiate fast breaks off of him as well.
Edey dominated Lively in their only matchup.
post up merchant ofc he did hes massisve
@@teo2shiftylively can’t shoot so if edey dominated him in the paint then what makes lively better?
yes he did
@@ssgstephen Lively is more mobile on switches. With Edey, you need to play drop or zone which I'd prefer anyways with teams taking quick shots these days.
@@ssgstephenbecause he’s a far far better and more mobile defender. Edey will get absolutely destroyed in the pick and roll/pop and on the switch
The reason you don't appreciate
E. and his talent is that you don't
understand basketball E. can shoot
just fine but your not looking at that and
to be honest I think someone has told
not to look at that...His size is the problem he is intimidating I understand,
but I don't care about your problems I
care about mine.
Zach Edey will improve
If Edey develops a turnaround jumper from 10-12 feet or a face-up from 18+, he’ll be scary. Free throw shooting is the best indicator of developing an outside shot, and he’s solid from the line. But right now he has no offensive arsenal.
He wouldn't be and he's a liability on defense
he is a future HOF in the nba. We will revisit this comment. You have embarresed yourself
I’m so embarrassed..
Im thinking him and wemby would be a dominant pair!
