The rail is from 1950 which is older than I Love Lucy and living here all my life, I'd never heard anyone speak about the other half of the wye that was here in Hialeah at one point in history. Join me for some archaeology in South Florida in this video!

let's uncover some Railrocrossingasaur bones from the 1950s era, an extinct type of dinosaur that flashed red and were used for trains sometimes
they had no mouth, and didnt eat, they relied on humans to give them spare parts, their roar depends on the bell that was mounted on their head.
they died out when Ebells were invented because ebells were so quiet the people didnt hear them and ended up getting in accidents, thus killing them off for good
nice video railrol82, you are the REAL railroad archeologist

Boy this is like the eye of the storm and all the garbage filtered out of the stratosphere and landed there. Even in Chicago at some abandoned Crossings I don't remember looking this bad. Perhaps some gasoline and a couple matches would at least condense the piles of garbage. Your final shots by that canal it is amazing how on a road gets reconstructed the traces of a railroad just simply disappear and I would have never guessed homes would be on that small Street. Nothing like staring at a semi trailer out your front window. Judging from the accumulated garbage I didn't see a Wendy's container as they were probably sold out of everything

    • @railrol82

About a week ago I followed a train down Greves St in Milwaukee which is parallel to the old MILW RD main line but is now cut off since they made Canal Street go through. This was by the site of Cut Off Tower and now with no businesses on this section of Street which ends in a cul-de-sac it is extremely seedy with transients and drug dealers but at night there have got to be several truckloads of tires furniture roofing material Landscaping debris and other garbage just dumped there. It's city property for the most part though some does spill onto the railroads and apparently there is a quarterly clean up but that is a sad site from what it used to look like

Well I personally have not witnessed a railroad crossing so polluted with garbage and such. I am no follower of Santa Ria, but when leaving an "offering" on railroad tracks isn't there a need of traffic on the railroad tracks to "carry away" spirits of the offering? I surmised that is reason for "gift" left on the track or tracks in the first place? As always sights, history as well as past and present photos and video tells a story of mostly decline and/or abandonment of right of way up keep or at least mowing and removal of trees. It is sad Roly to see the decline of America's vast railroad network. The switch from railroad delivery and pickup to tractor trailers for that is overwhelming. Yes for some things large and very heavy train is still King, but not like it was 60+ years ago in my school age into adulthood growing up in Western Pennsylvania. Glad you are keeping track (no pun intended) of railroad history. The one greatest achievement by Pennsylvania Railroad was Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, PA. I personally rode through it several times. Once Eastward and Westward on a Cub Scouting trip by special train trip setup through Regional Scouting group. A couple other time with Amtrak. Glad you keep "track" of these things before some are lost forever for the rest of us still interested in railroading. Thanks!!😊

Who ever owns those properties, is responsible. The city can give you that information. If you were going to pursue this, photos in detail will help. These photos need to show start signs and other clues , astonishing where this is. Dating the photos helps. Your video could work as well. Something that shows exactly where these are. Then you would need to keep checking back, as to any progress on this.
