This film was released during the peak of my 4-year relationship with my first love, my high school sweetheart. We met in 1974, by 1976 our love was in full bloom, and by 1978 we had grown apart. This was "our" film. We talked about it over and over, how much we loved the songs. Seeing this trailer today reminds me of that simpler, beautiful time when we were teens, our whole lives ahead of us. She passed away in 2015 due to breast cancer but I will never forget her, with this film's soundtrack as one of the many great reminders of that time.

Remakes are done for more than one reason. For action and sci-fi of course it's because of advancements in special effects. For movies like these it's to connect to the generation of the time. You can't expect a 17 year old to appreciate Streisand or Garland, there's too much of a gap in the social structure. And that said one day 20-30 years from now people will be saying the same about Gaga. That can be said about automobiles, fashion, television, anything molded by society of the time. So don't diss stars and talent of the past, without them you wouldn't have what you worship today.

Evergreen was my wedding song in '79. I saw Kris Kristofferson on Willy Nelson's Birthday special last week and it brought me back to thinking of this movie. I can't believe it's almost 50 yrs. old.
Lady Gaga did an excellent job but my heart will always belong to Barbara & Kris ❤️

The beautiful yet haunting (for me)intro to evergreen reminds me of my mother who left our family in 1978 to be with another man. I was only 5 yrs old. Barbra’s vocals at the beginning of Evergreen will forever stand as my sorrow and wonder for my mom’s departure

Vi por primera vez esta película el 11 de marzo de 1977 cuando tenia 15 años y quedé enamorado de Barbra Streisand hasta el día de hoy que no he dejado de coleccionar todo lo referente a ella.
Not even a Streisand fan and this was a bit before my time, but I enjoyed it more than then new version. In fact I couldn't even watch the new one past half an hour.

I was 16 when I saw this. Had a profound effect on me. Streisand’s voice unbelievable but think Gaga has done it justice.
I was 16 too. I still remember seeing this in the theatre. I cried in the car the whole way home. I saw the remake. It was good. Loved Gaga and Bradley. They had chemistry but didn't make me cry like Babs and Kris!
Ah....this film made and broke my heart at age 14. Lovely to see it remade for a new generation but for me there is only one.

Streisand had the good fortune to work with some of the old Hollywood legendary directors and cinematographers who knew how to make movies. She listened and learned.
Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga both did the most spectacular job in making the movie A Star is Born 2018. And Bradley Cooper really did a great job learning the guitar 🎸and taking voice lessons so everything was live. He said that if he couldn't get Lady Gaga to play the part then there would be no movie. I love you Bradley 💞
(except for : Cooper isn't playing the guitar parts of songs . It's Lukas Nelson.)
This reminds me of both of my parents that loved this movie. Probably not as much as I do, but.... I lost both of them recently, and both before they hit 70 years old. So this trailer is bittersweet. I have tickets for the early screening of the 2018 version, and I think it will follow the 76 movie in many ways.
I am sorry for your loss. From experience it is like losing a part of yourself. My solace was that my father's DNA lives on inside of me.
AG + It is AG. The first day I went to leave for work it was raining outside, and I felt hollow. Very sad, and couldn't shake it. Then my mom died 2 days after Christmas in 2015. Now I live in a lonely place, even though I have a daughter and 2 grandchildren. Thanks for your post.

I saw this movie about 2 months ago in anticipation for the new movie coming out. I cried at the end. It was a beautiful love story. I cannot wait until October 5th until the new one comes out.
This is a cool trailer. I don't agree Barbra & Kris were "mismatched". They went out in real life, way before the movie shot. Like CBS telling Desi that the public will never believe Lucy and he as a couple. Although they were married to each other. The trailer rocks.

This is the best acting music honesty. This new on is so sappy they all just love each other weepy. No one sings like Barbara Streisand ....looks like Kris Krisstoferson and acts like him!

After a show in Las Vegas in 1975, Elvis Presley had a visitor in his dresssing room...Miss Barbra Streisand. She came to ask if Elvis wanted to play with her in the movie "A star is born". Elvis said that he was interested but that it had to be spoken with his manager. Tom Parker, the manager of Elvis wanted that Elvis was the protagonist and that his name came first on the movie announcements. That was impossible and so it didn't go on. That was very unfortunate!
If only Elvis had lived. It would have been something special to see what he would have done with that part...

I can't see him in that role, and frankly, I didn't think he was a strong enough actor to do the part of John Norman. I didn't think he was that great of an actor. Let's put it this way, I can act as well as he could, and that's not saying much. JMHO, however.

Elvis Presley was approached by Barbra Streisand to play the lead. It may have boosted his career, but the greedy Colonel didn't want his boy to get second billing to Streisand.
Looking back at this trailer, I can't even imagine anyone else but Kris Kristofferson playing this role.

I love the Barbra Streisand version. One of my all time faves. I do like Lady Gaga and I'm looking forward to this remake of a remake. Changing times in technology and music should be interesting. I'll give it a chance.
I'm picky about music. Wasn't all the wowed with the Barbra Streisand/Kris Kristoppherson version, and I'm pretty sure, I'm going to really NOT like the music on Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper version IF I decide to see it. Not sure I want to. You've seen one version, no need to see another, since the plot is the same, the music isn't.

I believe she had asked Elvis Presley to co-star with her on this movie. I think Elvis would of done a great job also, he would of made an awesome come back on his career. We love the King and miss him lol where ever he is.

I love you, I hate you. I have got to see this movie again, it's been so long.
The one and only time I saw it was when it came out, and my aunt and I went to go see it. I didn't really want to, but, my Aunt wanted to see it, and so, reluctantly, I agreed. I think I didn't want to admit I liked it more than I thought I would. I didn't think I was going to like it, period, but, I liked it. I would like to see it again, but, don't know if my library carries a copy of it, and I've never thought about it and checking to see if they have it or not. Might check and see. I live in a big city, and the library system is pretty large and extensive, but, I've thought of movies to see, and when I check with the library, they don't have it, which makes me wonder if they would have this particular version. People steal the dvds and sometimes they just don't replace them.
I had the movie poster hanging in my bedroom. I can still " see" it. I had the soundtrack.
I've seen both this one when i was 12 which is my favourite and the new one which i love now at 54 lol
