I've watched a LOT of Dollar Tree challenges. This is the best I've ever watched, hands down! Your dinner and table was beautiful. I just very happily subscribed and will spend a quiet Christmas evening watching my new favorite channel. Thank you so much for doing this beautiful dinner! Happy holidays to you and yours!
Hi Jody 😁 Glad you liked them. I love the way the single servings look. It's so elegant and really elevates the dish. I bet those jello parfaits were lovely. Sometimes it's those little details that children remember. 💜
When you do things yourself (ok some items are prepared but still), you save SO much can you imagine how far $20 would go at a restaurant even a fast food one? Not very far. So happy to see you encouraging people to put something together themselves instead of eating out or microwaving, it can really stretch your budget, it is healthier and fun, thank you.
This proves people can dine on the frugal side and still have a gorgeous table. The only thing left to add is love, which I know you did. Thank you so much for showing this option. This would work for a special meal for any family dinner or supper, as we say in the South. Impressive, Michelle. ❤🙂
When given a choice between canned or frozen veges..I always do frozen. They were fro,en at the height of there nutritional value. Us they generally taste better.
This is the best video I've seen all week! Your creativity wowed me. The recipes, the table, the whole package was so careful and festive! It reminded me of my late mother, who was a gifted hostess who could turn Monday into a celebration for no reason. Thanks for sharing! Now to watch this again....
This has become my favorite channel. I can't wait to see what you're going to do next. Your budget ideas are especially welcome with money so tight for so many this year.
That was a beautiful dinner. Yum! And I LOVED the way you made the table so cute with your decorations and how you presented the food. Nice job! I am hooked on your channel now and watch you every day since I found your channel.
Such a beautiful celebration meal! I love the close care and attention to pay to the food. Humble DT berries are given complexity of flavor and a little more of a depth profile. You’re helping all of us to watch our budgets and while creating an impressive holiday feast
This looks so delicious and how beautiful! I so appreciate you do budget meals but especially because you center cooking for small families, these are perfect for just two ( with plenty of leftovers)…so many of the other utubers do dinners for 8 or more which always discourages me.
Hi Marcia 😁 Glad you like my Christmas video. I'm in a different phase in life and I now have small feasts 😂 I'm happy that these are well suited to you. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 🥰
I have watched several of these holiday meal challenges. Yours is the best! I love all of the variety. It felt very festive. I would still feel like I had a special meal with all of the care that you took and with the table looking so pretty. I love your use of the tree skirt.
Love your cooking and decorating ideas. I made the stuffing roll-ups with turkey lunch meat and gravy. It was yummy and the box of stuffing was only $0.88!!
Hi Kasey 😁 Thanks so much. I'm glad you liked this holiday video. Wow that was a great deal on the stuffing 👍 Glad you liked the turkey roll ups. Thanks for the feedback.
I absolutely loved everything about this video!! What a nice spread of food and all from the dollar tree. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!! :)
Haha that Texas style cornbread is really good i live about 15 mins from where it's milled and we've used it for years.. and I'm just getting ideas for Christmas dinner this year and so far so good
Brilliant ideas!! I’m going to do a bastardized version of this meal tomorrow night (basically using you and this meal as inspiration but my way of doing it) like the stuffing, mine is a family secret of labor intensive goodness but it’s everyone’s favorite so I’m going to use mine todo the Turkey (I lieu of ham) roll ups (love that!!) and just halving the macaroni noodles so it’s cheesier but keeping true the hash brown casserole and sweet potatoes and cheesecake dessert and those cheap brown and serve rolls are my all time favorite! I love all the fru-fru fancy breads and different types of dinner rolls but nothing compares to those ones with a smear of margarine! Thank you for coming up with and sharing this!! Nice take on a family meal that’s beautiful and hearty but in the most affordable way!!
I love this!! I'm so glad you liked the menu and the dishes I chose. If you ever decide to share the family secrets let me know 😉. Hope your dinner was awesome 😁
👍 👍 this is just wonderful 👏 ❤ I do like everything. Desserts love to make mini cheesecake and use the recipe on the cream cheese the vanilla wafers and canned pie filling. Use cupcake papers. They seem to be a big hit.
This is my first time here and I love love loved when you were stirring sugar into the strawberry topping and you said ‘You’re gonna add just as much sugar as you like’ and that is excellent advice! 🙇🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️
Another fantastic budget holiday meal! Just wonderful! I'm going to try the stuffing roll ups! You mentioned leftovers and I wanted to offer one of my favorite next day leftovers: a sandwich called a Turkey Timothy: 2 slices of bread: raisin bread or your favorite Walmart bread Sliced turkey ( or ham) Stuffing Cranberry Sauce Gravy Sounds crazy, but layer the sandwich: Stuffing/gravy/meat/cranberry sauce You can either toast the bread before you start, or brown your complete sandwich in a pan like a grilled cheese (little bit of margarine or nonstick spray on the bread for a nice browning) and that's it! Our family has enjoying this for many years.
That sounds like a delicious use of leftovers! Thanks for the idea 👍 I love it 😁 I like the idea of grilling it. I'm going to try this at Thanksgiving 🥰😊
I'm wondering how it would turn out if I used little Christmas cookie shapes, like a tree or santa. Would the shape still be as visible? The heart has such clean lines and is easily identifiable. If you try it, you have to let me know how it turns out.
Graham crackers crust is easy. Break up some graham crackers in the blender until it is crumbs. Then melt butter and mix until it starts to stick together. Don’t add too much. Then press it into the base of your desert cup or pan. You can make quick and dirty cheese cake with lemon pudding mix. Blend with cream cheese and a little vanilla and maybe a tablespoon of milk to get it to th3 right creamy 😮 consistency. Then put in graham cracker lined dish. Ref until it firms up. For the Mac and cheese, instead of egg, use mayonnaise. Sounds weird but it makes the Mac and cheese fluffier and creamier cuz of the egg, oil and vinegar in it. It combines with the cheese to make it light and fluffy. With that amount of Mac and cheese you can add about 1/4 c. Mayo. My aunt used to make that potato casserole. She did I use sour cream and green onion. But she topped it with crushed corn flakes before baking. Which just made a nice topping. I’d think you could use bread crumbs. Deviled eggs are always lovely. Your feast looks fantastic!
You can also do that with turkey and put your stuffing inside roll it up top it with gravy pop in the oven for 15 minutes to heat it all through but you want the turkey to be sick so if you wanna use cheap meat I would use more than two or three slices if you’re going to use it from the deli then have them cut it a little thicker and they slice it and it works perfect taste great
A recipe that I came up with is taking a can of sweet potatoes (size of can depends on how much you love sweet potatoes. I love sweet potatoes so I add the big can plus I like moist baked goods. Experiment with moisture/flavor and find a balance that works for you.) Anyways I take a can of sweet potatoes and mix it with a plain muffin mix then I put in spices (I am part Sri Lankan so I love Indian flavors...ginger, clove, cinnamon, and for me a tiny tiny bit of cardamom. If you don't like it so exotic then prolly just cinnamon with a touch of cloves). Then I put in some honey and some butter. Take the sweet potatoes from the can and throw it into a pot with half the juice, butter, spices, and honey and mash the potatoes and cook until it looks like a sweet potato version of apple sauce then prepare the muffin mix as the box instructions dictate then you simply mix the sweet potato mash into the muffin batter and cook them in a cooking pan that has been oiled and floured. I like mine to be the consistency of chewy fudge but you can cook for longer or reduce the amount of sweet potatoes if you want a drier sweet potato bread. The reason why it is chewy is because of the moisture and the carmelization that occurs when it is cooked. I like this in place of the traditional candied yams because for me they are too sweet for my taste buds. Just something to try. I hope who ever tries this recipe likes it and or adjusts it to where they do because it is a new take on sweet potatoes that is versatile. You can even pack this in school/work lunches/cozy get togethers. Enjoy :)
This sounds interesting and like a recipe that I would like. What kind of plain muffin mix are you purchasing? I would like to give this recipe a try. Thanks for sharing. 😊
@@ArdentMichelle I used the 16.9 oz Betty Crocker muffin mix. At the time I only had the Blueberry mix so I just used the mix and set the blueberries aside (I saved them to make a blueberry topping for waffles.)
Very great video. Super helpful I had a relative invite themselves to my house for dinner the meet of christmas and I am a broke single mom so this is helpful ❤
Great little video this, cheap as chips and it’s good to do it on a budget! $20 isn’t a lot, but you did a mighty fine job, I cooked mine in under two hours! These challenges make it fun, hey!! 😋👌🏻
Just found your channel, I get strange looks from family & friends when I admit that I grocery shop at Dollar Tree. Great job on your dinner. I ❤ a bargain & I see you do too.
Hey. Thank you for sharing your recipes 😋. I will be making these. I know you feed a family of 4. Who is at your table besides you and your 2 children?
@@ArdentMichelle Hey girl! Tip you can also do alot with cherry 🍒 pie filling tarts, from scratch or just use as a filling topper on top of something like I think you did with your strawberries I think it was? Take care God bless you friend! Have a great summer!
I used the honey cornbread. It is very good. However, the honey does not give a sweet flavor. If you like your cornbread sweet, take the suggestion on the package to add sugar. If you prefer your cornbread not sweet (I like both), it is yummy without the added sugar.
Thanks for letting me know. Yeah I like mine both ways too...sweet and then regular. Depends on my mood and what I'm eating it with. Looks like I need to try that cornbread. 🙂
You did a really great job on everything but you are using your cookie cutter upside down lol 😝 Also *loved* the tree skirt as part of the centerpiece! I plan to use a poinsettia in the center with a smaller tree skirt. Awesome video 👏🏼
