I really enjoy watching your videos and the finds that you discover along with the many classic cars. However, I can't help feeling a little upset thinking about the people who once owned these items with their lives and memories now gone.

A Great find again Colin , the most valuable car actually would be the Standard, Surely they would be better contacting Mathewsons or East Anglia Car Auctions for the cars!

Had to come back to comment because I actually felt upset after watching this one. As someone who loves vintage stuff and antiques and classic cars and also my dad just passed away and he spent his childhood around horses living in a romany caravan so my whole family collect those brass horses and caravans this one hurt. Whoever called the scrap guys on this place needs to have a serious word with themselves. I couldn't see a single piece of scrap anywhere the whole place is a treasure trove that needed to be seen by vintage & antique dealers and classic car collectors not scrap men. It's disturbed me this one Colin.

@@TheBeardedExplorer yes mate I watch the whole video. Glad they didn't just throw the brass horses but there's better places that a scrap metal merchants shelf for it and I'm more concerned what happened after they came back to clear the barns with the cars, car parts, signs, cast iron fireplace tucked away at the back, the motorbikes, Raleigh Chopper, ect. I know it's not my stuff but it breaks my heart when rare cool items like that has scrap guys sniffing around it.

I would really love to know who the guy in the red puffer is to the owner.
All I heard was negativity and how he was a hoarder, but look how much money there is sat there if you look beyond scrapping (which in my opinion already shows the stupidity). All those brass objects are probably worth 10x more than what you got for scrap.
Sad story as you could see the passion the owner had. Just a shame seeing potentially someone’s life’s work just not being acknowledged for what it should be. Rant over.

Scrap men will be in there strip it clean and you’ll see it all on eBay if they don’t just weigh it in! N them old motors are making thousands at the min! Scrappy give ya £200 for the Morris 🙈

It’s always so exciting to see these discoveries and know that with many of the cars featured they will eventually be brought back to original condition and in many cases, be worth a lot more than when they were sold brand new! It gives a lot of fun for collectors and enthusiasts who enjoy restoring these old beauties! (In another 50 years they will sell like famous old oil paintings) happy days!

Here in the U.S.A., the Mitsubishi was known as the Conquest.
Just to pass along a bit of VW knowledge, that's technically not a Beetle. That's a Super Beetle, there is a difference. The way you can tell the difference is the nose. A Super Beetle's nose rounds back under and has vents at the bottom. A Beetle's nose continues down at the same angle until a very tiny rolled lip at the bottom. The fenders vary in this regard as well. There are other differences, but that's the most striking one from the outside. The Super has McPherson Strut suspension up front and all have IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) out back that used a torsion bar for a spring. While these produced a better ride quality, and slightly better handling, they were no where near as reliable and as rugged as what came in a true Beetle. Those had a twin torsion bar front beam and most had a "swing" axle in the back, but the later years had the same I.R.S. setup as the Super Beetle.
The front of the Beetle was way tougher because the beam for the front was a self contained unit. If it had problems, you could just unbolt it and swap it for a new one. You could abuse those things over and over and they would come back for more. We would use them in buggies and launch them off jumps with no worries of them ever failing. The Super Beetle's Struts mounted to the inner lip of the front trunk (boot to you guys over there). If you hit the car in the front, it was really hard to get proper suspension geometry back again. I've seen those take half the abuse of a beetle and punch the struts through the sheet metal and out the hood, ruining the car for good at that point.
The rear of the Beetle was just as tough. The original "swing" axle cars did not have C.V. joints that would fail. To break a swing, you had to snap the entire axle shaft, almost impossible to do with a car that light, until you reach turbo-ed engine numbers. Those were also geared way lower as they originally had way less power, so VW made up for that with gearing. The swing axle only pivoted at the transaxle it's self and not at the tire. This resulted in the wheel/tire following the arch of the axle and caused the tire to have large amounts of negative camber under acceleration, and large amounts of positive camber while in reverse. If a driver was not use to this, and what it could do, people could possibly roll a car, but not very likely, especially in a VW, or Porsche which used the same thing. So, after a media campaign, which has now been proven to have been based on lies and doctored vehicles, against VW but most of all the Chevrolet Corvair and a book "Unsafe at any speed" by a congressman who's name is not worth repeating, VW moved to the IRS and Chevy stopped the Corvair all together.
The new IRS axle used a CV (Constant Velocity) joint at each end. This resulted in a tire that remained in almost exactly the same camber setting throughout it's range of motion. It made the car a little more sure footed, but the reduced weight transfer resulted in less weigh being transferred, which means less traction to be had, so the gain in forward motion was negligible. The gain was in stability during backing up. The reduced reliability of, at times, very fragile CV joints, when compared to the swing axle, makes the swing the more desired axle among off-road and drag race enthusiasts, where the IRS cars are more preferred by those wanting to road race a Beetle. The older cars are also more desired for kit cars, as they do not need a surface to mount the struts to. The swing axle cars are anything from 1967 and older. In 1968, the 4-speed cars were still swings, but the autostick cars were IRS. In 1969 and on they all became IRS.

This is the most interesting of your films, though I wouldn't say the most enjoyable. It's very frustrating not to know more about the background to this hoard, who the owners are, and why they don't get featured. Also very sad that only scrap merchants got involved and not an auction house who would have been more likely, imho, to ensure that all those cars and antiques would've got into more caring hands. Just lots of exclamations of 'Wow' and 'Amazin'. With a few 'incredibles', you could've done a passable Kate Bush impression! But keep up the good work.

Pity very few cars give a valid reg check no. As for Excalibur its stuck in a shed wall not a rock, at least that's been sorted out. DAF ( vanDoorne's Automobile Fabriek.). Now that's a gem, its brand new, well as regards use it is. Glad to see at the end they just don't meltdown the whole lot. The wee dog stole the show. Great place thanks.

What an interesting collection of cars. Some of them are real rarities. Several of them look like they could be saved. I would definitely have the Standard and give it the TLC it deserves.

There was a Raleigh chopper in there behind the moped with the piston hanging out which I think was a Garelli Eureka.
I hope the barn cars get restored and not scrapped.

That was really interesting loved it. You do find some lovely stuff. Brass was a popular ornament back In the day but I was thinking whilst watching how it isn’t any more but still it’s stunning as were the cars 🌹

do you often ask the owners of the property why they haven't sold cars that are potentially restorable? maybe ask if the owners should get in touch with the car clubs of that specific brand to restore it?
i'm pretty sure some of those brass statues would fetch a good price too

Wow Colin, where do i start, some of them cars are worth a lot of money & some are complete scrap,as for the brass ornaments especially the horse & cart one's are ££££,the scrapmen seem to be taking more than just the scrap they came for, ie,than coca-cola sign & the plane that was hanging up,i thought you might brought yourself some items for you collection
