Hi neural academy, quick question, wouldn't it be an option to inject the AAV virus carring a TH specific promotor with the Channel rhodopsin gene in the VTA, instead of using the CRE recombinase mechanism trough a transgenic mouse model? Great video btw
Hey Evert, you may have found this answer already, but incase you didn't or anyone is also curious: AAVs have a limited carrying capacity and a cell-type specific promotor simply takes up too much space. So, for now scientists are stuck using Cre-driver lines with AAVs, but other viral vectors are being worked on, such a lentiviruses, which have much greater carrying capacity.
Amazing video. So well explained!
guys u are the best !! I would love to see more videos summarizes cool papers and methods from neuroscience !!
This video bouta save my Midterm grades. Bless up!
Thank you so much.... Cant appreciate enough... Keep it up....
Excellent video. Well done, you! :-)
Well done! Thank you for the video.
Came for the neuroscience, stayed for the evil laugh 😈
Isn't halorhodopsin an ion pump and not a channel??
Well done!
This video was great, thank you so much!
This video has been very helpfull to me! Thanks a lot
save my day, thanks!
awesome
Now you know what the covid vaccines are for.
