- Instead of rating bases, I wanted to take the chance to talk about the monetization as a whole, but with a focus on these relentless cosmetic events with a low drop rate. Sure, you can save Lightforge Relics to buy things after multiple pulls of spin to win, but I'm not a fan of the 50% reduction offer as it looks more like a gateway for the compulsive personalities.

I haven't whaled out any of the 3 limited time events. I've done a couple of 10 pulls and regretted it both times. I am one of those idiots that used leftover currency to do this and I wish I didn't. Don't do what I did. You'll most likely get nothing. Thanks for coming to my Dino Talk.
I have the same gripe with the loot crates but at least we don't usually whine about it hahahaha! Also i'm the unluckiest person in terms of draw lots/raffle/gatcha so I tend to stay away from it :P
I agree with you I think they could just charge for the skin specifically or break down the items and charge for them individually but their issue is then you wouldn't be spending $300 or 179 I think it is this time because they lowered the amount of times that you're allowed to Gamble
I'm perfectly fine with this type of monetization as long as it stays only cosmetic. To be quite honest while previewing the outfits most are just trash. My number one issue is there isn't a dye system to let you customize your clothing.

A neat trick is just to get the 1st 50% discount and keep it, the currency can be carried over to the next Lightforge, that is if you have the patience to collect
Let's not forget we are talking about NetEase here. They are on the same level with Tencent if not worse when it comes to microtransactions. They make a game successful, crank the monetization with each update, milk it dry and either shut it down or put it on life support when the player base leaves and go on to the next project.
Diablo Immortal was a shocker. I wanted to enjoy it but my wallet couldn't keep up.
Sounds familiar indeed. I was a LifeAfter player for almost 3 years. The way they monetized it was insane. I do see improvement in Once Human but I'm quite worried the history is repeating itself.

Yep, look at Apex Legends Mobile (Tencent). It's dead because almost no one played and their prices are so high compared to the PC game. Knowing NetEase (I've played many of their games), this gambling always exists and damn they're also always pricey.

@@RATETHEBASE I own the glass pack, 2 themed cosmetic sets and a very lucky 6 pull Guitar SOCR skin. I don't mind spending money on the game. But It's a bad look to have 3 loot crate gambling events back to back before new content arrives. I'm not very interested in theme of the loot gambling events but they got me on the 10 pull for 50% off.
Yup, lootbox is a baby first Casio. As someone who was a gambling addict, it's a slippery slope.
They haven't gone too far coz its your choice if you want to draw... they can put the chance at 0.0000000001 and gullible people will still draw... majority of players dont even care about the loot crate... but yeah continue drawing and supporting the game for us...
I got tempted to buy the pyro glide, first 10 spins 50% off. I got the armor costume and axe skin tho, no bike skin sadly but all G. Didn't spend another dime for a spin cuz i know that'll be addicting haha I know for a fact I was just lucky that time so i didnt even bother opening more fck that
They haven't released the combat medic skin yet. But if they're going to make the skin too expensive or put it in a lightforge crate, I'm not going to bother buying it. They're getting a bit too greedy with the monetization. I already spent money on the glass and a skin, which is equivalent to buying a triple A game. If they really care for the longevity of their game, they'll be better off having numerous and affordable cosmetics than making every new thing expensive as hell.
I already have a friend who spent nearly a hundred bucks on lightforge crates and still didn't get the flaming cosmetics they wanted. No cosmetics should ever cost that much.

my take after watching 40 seconds of the video, cosmetics are optional yes, i don't have to buy them if i don't want it yes, but I WANT to buy it. just LET ME buy it! don't make me open 50 boxes, just let me buy it (i wont buy it though, back to the rest of the video)
But you can buy it, just not for the price you are willing to accept😂. At least its cheaper this time around compared to the pyro boxes.
What's crazier is that they made it hard to find the price of how much the currency for the loot crate costs.

The biggest scummiest issue is the prices of currency doesnt align to the prices of skins, so you can never buy 1 skin for 1 currency purchase, you always have to buy MORE THAN you need
So you've got more currency leftover for the next purchase. Yeah, an old one that still grinds my gears even though every game is doing it now.
I am not against high priced skins especially in a free to play game, things are worth what people spend. HOWEVER I am 100% against gambling for them, especially games that kids play.

Devs and companies arent responsible for childrens actions, that is the parents jobs. Once human is a rated R game, meaning no one under 17 should be on it regardless. Its up to the parents on what they allow their kids to play or spend money on, not the devs.
Here's the thing: They are massively overpricing what they sell. The value just isn't there.
If they put out 4 skins for $5, I will buy all 4 skins without thinking.
If they put out one skin for $20, I'm not gonna buy it.
Same for a their gatcha garbage: A 1% chance to get a 1/3rd chance to get the item you actually want.. is not worth $2,50. That's more than a 99% chance to waste your money.
I've decided I'm boycotting all cash transactions with the game until they completely remove the loot crates. They are preying on people's FOMO, it's predatory marketing at it's worst.
My only rule, I will never buy RNG. This goes for Lotteries, Casinos, Loot Crates, etc. RNG should be as easy as a dice roll, and the time invested to roll the odds.
Difference is there is a guaranteed pity system.
I just ignore the lootboxes. They will not get a single dime from me there.
I saw the Light Forge Loot Crate Pyro Glide event, and immediately knew based on quick calculating that it was going to be that one event in this videogame, where they could only try that once, (so early in release,) that it would be the most expensive thing possible (because it's so early so they tested the threshold for making the community angy), and because it's hard to source $$$ in so little time for most people to blindly trust in ideas like this, I knew obviously it was a time to flex a painful grind IRL to drop $$$ on a thing like this, so copium or no copium, good or bad decision, it was my choice, had plenty of capital to live my life after the fact, and so far I've been non-stop playing Once Human, haven't even turned back to touch Tarkov which is an eyebrow-raiser in my own life, so yeah. The folks tell me to, "do what makes me smile and thats all that matters". I hadn't bought a single videogame in like a year 1/2, and that was a good discipline considering I used to buy games every three months, so the time had come. When I saw it was going to cost 300$ for a skin in a videogame two-months into launch, I laughed, and then I bought all of it up to the last thing, especially once I saw the Psych Skull costume couldn't be bought flat-out and a nail in my brain was scraping along my frontal lobe saying "gimme...gimme...gimme.". Now, the Psychadelic Skull skin is a distant unpurchasable item, and I felt it was their obviously biggest push to make something original and special, and I could see it clear as day, so I went all in. So long as they take the money and re-uptake it into the game, and don't go running off with it to a "nEw PrOjeCt" two-years-time, I'll be happy. The NetX Engine looks like it could stand the test of time toe-to-toe with UE5. Having God-Rays in a game so vibrant with spaciousness so vast still going @ 140FPS with so much functionality, compared with Tarkovs' dogwater chassis on Unity (barf), is great.
This new event where it's just ripping off of Nier: Automata and SMITE's Nemesis made me laugh even more because of the unoriginality, and made me glad that I did what I did because now I have my identity (seeing Psych skull players will get more and more rare as life happens...) and it's truely a pretty cosmetic, where I could tell they put it behind a multi-hundred-dollar paywall for a reason as it seems like it took a lot of work to animate the idle mode, animate the spectral effects around the armor, design the glowing mask and body decals, etc., and anyone who wants something similar is just going to be chasing a rolling train and will probably be hesitant to dump money to look like they belong the entire time, and with the current state of the weakening dollar, that's just going to make purchases like these in a time where no one would dare buy into Gacha considering IRL overheads, *that* much more rare.
Psychadelic Skull skin meshes really well with the Lone Wolf specialization armor at the Wish Machine, among other kinds of shoes and gloves, and I get this really nice base chassis Psych Skull, and the ability to switch up gloves and shoes to be able to look the part of unique without any kind of clipping issues, because the cosmetic hugs the body tightly and the rest of the vanilla armor garments are loose. (so I can look sexy where I want it and armored-up where I want it as well lol.) It's actually really rare considering I never drop cash on games like that, so my circumstances were as much as a rarity as this skin was a rarity. I was going to buy the Shadow Panther costume at first, but I feel like it was too lame to throw directly 30$ at basically a skimpy-sloot costume rather than practice any kind of simpy constraint and be patient with something else and sure enough. Psych skull was this perfect balance of sexy appeal but armored fictional realism. Elegant yet believable. Chic, yet declarative. Any time I run a random raid with some people asking for help, it's almost like they gravitate around me and treat my sprite as a central pillar because of the appearence, and because of the high-roller whale status, there's always a little extra-lean into who I am and what I'd like at any given time. It's the difference between going to a Formalwear event in a Versace Medusa all-onyx dress (or Brunello Cucinelli tux) and a white tee and denim jeans, you're just treated different if you respect the event, as is the respect of playing the videogame in a similar regard.
And therefore, I agree with this video. Owning something like the Psych Skull per this outlook, should be of an incredibly rare and highly-respected tradition of cosmetic-appearel-creating by NetEase Subsidiary Starry Games.
If they're going to take money like mine, and believe that "that is the cue to start shilling out unoriginal pieces of artwork for $$$,$$$", There's already a man named Hunter Biden that does that, and look at the world of trouble that ... *man*.. is in. Rather, it's Starry Games' opportunity to divide their development team into the proper groups and go through expansion. After expansion, it is their opportunity to code out, design out and create a *massive cycle* of rotationals that rivals World of Warcrafts' popularity in the early 2000's. I can feel it, their NetX engine can do a lot before it crashes. It's a game engine made for 2025+, yet runs real nice even on machines where people fear their tower is a toaster.
10,000,000 downloads, 100,000~ actively-subscribed-to-social-media players, ~1% Download Retention, and probably 5% of that 1% bought Psychadelic skull. They guaranteed made hundreds of thousands of dollars off of Psychadelic Skull alone, if not more. Now what they need to do, while they have the rolling ball, the propriety of their own copyrights, trademarks and game engine, is *work the game*. Really take it to the max with what is possible on it now, full-steam ahead. More recipes to craft, the ability to create rubber from oil, acid output tweaks from garden-products like contaminated vegetables, weapon-caliber introduction so it's harder to share ammo, more ores, more alloys, more tree styles that make different colored wood for building, hangable maps, more coding into Warbands and Hives, More weapons, more vehicles, more munitions, re-skins so Red Plasma missiles look different in-menu than from regular BMMs, improved Artifical Intelligence with increased loot drops, More Wildlife with lesser chances for viable hide and meat (maybe RNG chance based on how many shots you put into the creature, more of a queue to use Bolt-Action for hunting over RPK), More flowers, more contaminated counterparts, more *deviated* counterparts, *underwater* bases and structures, boats, submarines, manually-pedalled bicycles for the desperate, more music on the radio station, miniature arcade games on an arcade machine (if we're going to have the Wish Machine, might as well throw in familiar mini-games), more emotes, more color-skins for the already-abundant cosmetics, more flying creatures beyond pelicans (like where are all the regular Robins and Bluejays lol), More food items, more fish, more grades of fishing rod, More acid varieties that perform different reactions in different recipes (or have "acid"s base states be Acetic acid and then have Sulfuric Acid be like the stats of 10 acetic acids but make it hard to make), a couple new factions, more violent weather that warrants not being caught in to keep yourself safe (lightning bolt strike insta-killing the player minute-chance RNG), Runner zombies that grapple like the Gnawers, An area that's nothing but zombies and really quick and responsive ones that move in massive waves), Helicopter(s) and multiple, start off with a regular news-reporting helicopter that's costly to make, but the choice to make an Annihilator or UH60 that takes crazy hauling efforts from a full hive to build, incentivizing a long-standing hive in the first place. This is just a big list of things that splat on the front of my mind first-thought.
Absolutely brilliant initial idea as well, to make a videogame on it's entirely-own game-engine. Strongest Anti-cheat is the one where no one can legally have the engine on their computer...
...Whether or not they're going the wrong way or not, we won't know for sure the state of the game based on what people are saying about the game alone.
"Tarkov is dying, Tarkov is dying, *wahwah*, Tarkov is dying", despite year-by-year it surging to the tops of streamer channels and even surviving the Unheard Edition Greed Stunt it pulled.
The only way we're going to know how for certain the true health of the game based on corporate-to-developer-level relationships is how Starry Games pushes back against NetEase and their tendencies to be greedy when Starry demands they stay humble. If at any moment Starry Games loses their footing and NetEase hogs its way into Starry's vision, then mark my words, the birds will chirp to the streets, the mice will translate the chirping, they will start squeaking to their fellow mice what the birds said, and everything will scatter, and all that will be left is a skeleton and the bugs.
I hope from a whale to the spenders, that that was a read enjoyed over popcorn or your favorite snack.
Another thing they do is when u buy crystagen, (forgot how to spell it), they make it so u can't buy just the right amount to buy any item in the shop even tho they have set prices for certain kinds of things. So u ALWAYS have to buy more than u need and u ALWAYS have some left over that u can't use without buying more
It has become the meta for f2p games with shop currency. Put the items you want just over the tier you need. :(
I’ll make the counter case for all this, beyond just the “it’s a free game, it’s purely cosmetics and it’s entirely optional to spend a penny”.
Ask yourself why you never wear the fantastic gold skin that came with the last Battlepass? And nor does anybody else. Why? Because digital asset desirability is highly linked to its rarity and scarcity. Therefore the white outfit in the new Battlepass will suffer the same fate after a week or so of novelty: you’ll see all the other players rocking it, know anybody can get it for a mere ten quid etc and it just doesn’t feel as good anymore so you put together a new look that’s a bit more unique.
So to the controversial light forge loot crates. Arguably the skins in them are no better than the Battlepass, but they’re more desirable in no small part because of their rarity.
If they had made the Pyro Glide a $30 skin, everybody would have them, but then they’d also be common as muck and cease to be special like the Battlepass skins.
So therefore pricing them high at a $100+ entry point to realistically secure the legendary items in light forge collections is a way to ensure they’re rare, or you just get super lucky off a crate.
I take your point on it playing on people psychologically but that’s down to individual weakness. We’re all accountable. Personally I wanted the Pyro Glide collection and was well aware what it might cost, and picked the lot up for about $160. And I was very happy with it too, still am. Better still I got a load of tokens for duplicates that mean I’ve cherry picked some smaller cosmetics from this new light forge collection. A cradle charm and fireplace for my base, all from the original amount I put in.
So I’m personally fine with it because I went in ok with spending a decent amount, and maybe also because I’m a Star Ciitzen backer so we don’t baulk at $300 space ship joegs lol. Anyway I have no issue with any of this because the game is great, free and well supported. Also I hate most of the garish cosmetics making things like the second light forge collection and easy pass for me.
All good points. The individual weakness can be shrugged at but it's what the devs are counting on imo, hence my rant today!

i disagree with that, i hate most of the outfits they make, to girly, i got the vampire skin and made a combo of other sets i bought. to personlise my looks. my gf did the same but with the golden skin form the other pass.
Both agree and disagree with this, I've been playing D2 for a few years now, I've been running the same look for the last 2 years with a combination of free and paid cosmetics. I have a look that I like and I'm sticking to it. Mind you I can see the appeal of buying the newest items that are "extremely rare" to make it feel like you are better than everyone else. I have very rarely fallen for it and have learned from a previous mistake that could have been much worse than it was thankfully.
@@snyper64 It’s not even about “feeling like you’re better than everybody else”, some people just like a rare look and to not bump into clones of themselves in-game all the time. Same reason people sometimes buy rarer cars; not because they’re necessarily better or even more expensive, but because they’re different.
Players think that the developers get payed and keep good updates with tin air, the only way you support once human is through cosmetics, if you like them just buy them if not don't complain and carry on playing a good free game or move on to another game. There is no pay to win here so i don't comprehend the crying here, it's not right.

Well I played the game and went into it knowing NetEase was part of it. I tried to give them a chance to redeem themselves, but as soon as them crates came out I thought to myself " am a dumb ass for thinking they would change!" So I already quit the game the first day I seen them crates.

The surprising thing for me is, they just released summer lootcrate 2 weeks ago. 💀 People spent $300 for that and now after 2 weeks theyre opening their wallets again 💀.

The entire collection is ~$150, even with bad rng you will end up with everything and some ingots left over for the next crate.

I'd like to see a price reduction on the skins, other than that I don't care if they use skins to make money.
They seem to think if they charge a ton for a skin it would make more money than charging a reasonable price. Sure the whales will buy whatever, but 1000x more people will buy something if it's reasonably priced.

Some really nice outfits should be tied to extremely hard challenges. It would help me see people with these rare skins as more than just pigs and whales and people with some actual skill and game knowledge. As of now if I see someone with these overpriced skins imma assume they are in debt
I think the biggest downfall of this game is the rest chest respawn rate, say you get them all in the first 5 days after reset, from there onwards just feels like something is missing and knowing how long you have to wait for them to respawn again....ugh. You're essentially playing the game around a machine that's in your base then if you enjoy your PVE gameplay.
Just so you all can know the average amount you will need to spend on the loot crate to get the good loot. I spent $300 on the flaming loot box. I didn’t get the skin or the motorcycle skin until the very last cycle of drops meaning it cost me $250 to get everything. Use me as the rest of how much the average unlucky person will have to spend. And I chose to spend the money, I love this game I’ve put hundreds of hours into it but man it really felt bad having to spend hundreds. I wish I could buy the skin outright, charge $50 or $75 cause lots more people would buy. The gamba is really bad in this game, and I believe they have the odds rigged to get at least $100 from you before you get anything good.

IDK. I think the BEST lootbox system is in POE. You dont have dubles there, you are drawing each time a NEW item, and AFTER lootboxes end they are added into cosmetic shop. Yep this will be higher price than buying lootboxes to get that items, since shop in PoE is kinda pricy BUT you can buy set u want or cosmetics you liked.
Idk why devs dont do things like that: u can get money from gamblers and players who just was there and made his 10 roll, and then u can make money on ppl who will come later if they will like this set/bike skin etc

It's crazy to me... A game with no P2W at ALL, not even the BATTLE PASS is NOT pay to win... and yet, people complain. Brother look at other games way worse with monetization, League of Legends, Fortnite, Path of Exile with exclusive support packs worth 400€+ (mandatory value), and yet again, here we are complaining about COSTUMES monetization... Bruh, the only concern of this game, is their servers. Period.

For as long as there is no pay to win, they can go all in with selling cosmetics the way they want.
As far as "predatory" scale goes this isn't bad at all. Like look at GI or HSR, whole gameplay is locked behind a gatcha system and in order to enjoy new gameplay mechanics you have to either dedicate a major amount of time or spend. Cosmetic only is not predatory, period.
Edit: Also I think you forget about where this game comes from. Gatcha games are HUGE in Asia, they LIKE gatcha mechanics. If it comes down to pleasing the eastern market vs Western market there are more people in the eastern market. Just vote with your wallet and don't spend on gatcha rolls and we can make more of a statement than make a post of any kind.
honestly, from all their games this is the most tamed monetization probably only because the devs working on this game right now hates p2w, i still remember that game they made way back at 2018 (looking at you lifeafter!) even a effing wood can be bought, wtf right? and don't get me started with the cosmetics, you gotta spend 1.5k$ or you won't get the effing sparkly backpack, it was a nightmare, basically you can buy everything little thing in the game at the game shop. the only reason i stayed a bit is because alot of my friends play it. Still, i don't think this kind of monetization is good, if they make it 100-150$ to buy the outfit, i'd rather buy it like that instead of spending 200-400$ for guaranteed random roll of legendary/epic cosmetic.

I've bought the glass pack, modern patio, and the first battle pass to support the game. I will not support the loot crates or any other paid gambling in the game and hope that they get rid of it. Would honestly hope that they go with lower priced items, they would be able to sell more of them over the long term than the current predatory way they are doing it now.
I've noticed that since their first lightforge crate, the effort that's gone into the cosmetics in the light forge crates have gone down. I would recommend that people not spend money on the light forge crates. I'm down for purchasing cosmetics and even surprise mechanics with a pity system doesn't bother me but the lack of effort does. People deserve to get their money's worth.

Former players of Rules of Survival knows this because it was also made by net ease... they gonna milk you so hard for getting good cosmetics. STEEP STEEP PRICE to get good looking cosmetics.
i think i been talking about how expensive everything is in the game for getting furniture and prints and stuff u could use on ur base, which for some people(me) is hard to get, especially cuz generally it feels too expensive(especially cuz my country's currency is not euro which makes it even harder cuz it feels even more expensive), you need to spend alot to be able to get the pack u need to be able to make a room look nice in ur house(yes they are permanent on your account cuz one time buy but it goes back to, it's too expensive)... yes ftp is ok i guess but not enough, why not make it in a way where u could also get some of the prints and furniture and decorations through stuff you can do in game, like farming storage crates(make it be 0.01% to recieve them) but at least make it exist.
I'm just saying, it would be nice if there would be multiple options you could get stuff and make it tempting enough for builders etc to actually spend maybe more time in the game with getting what they need rather than throwing money in the game where 2 euros is 60 coins, 4.99 doesn't go too far up from that and so on. yes i am aware you can get some stuff with starchrom and well, looting crates but im talking about more. i don't see a change in that area, not to mention battle pass has changed but the prints and decorations for the house with starchrom hasn't.

I believe that the reason for this game to be free is that it feels unfinished/raw, so they made it free. The more I think about it the less there's hope that they fix the combat\movement to be more responsive and fluid. Improving the actual game, not just gains, but who needs that?
For a free to play game, it's the only way they make money. If you want your free to play to continue to grow, supporting them with a battle pass or loot box every now and then is acceptable in my opinion.
Last month I spent 300 euros, I'm not joking or bluffing, between battle pass (adv), Meta pass, territory, character and weapon skins, yes I am pretty new in the game and finally the loot crates Pyro, from which I got nothing, this month here are another 120 euros, new battle pass and loot crate Freezing mist, and guess what? This time too, NOTHING. Support the developers of the Free to play game? Of course yes, but this goes beyond, much beyond, it's a thieving joke
Buy it if u want it or leave it. Its a free to play game with amazing features. They have to get the money in somehow. Nothing is for free in this world.

I do not the fact the the best looking skins are gambling items. I have a Hive memember who is addicted and is spending a fortune on this game. She is a salon worker so she is not rich but I see her spending so much money in this game. I have also spent over 200 hundred Canadian dollars on this game. I have not gambled yet. I think people will get tired of pouring money into this game tbh. Yet i keep on wanting more, but i draw the line at loot boxes.
Yes they have it’s a miracle the dragon sniper skin from season 1 battle pass wasn’t in a loot crate but it will be next time
Ive got the glass pack with 3 other friends and ill buy every battlepass to support the devs that's where ill draw the line in spending money in this game not to fall in the void of addiction

I like the battlepass, but somehow it came out at a most awkward time when most players have already completed week 4 scenario 1 (again). And many of us have moved on to play other games.
Gacha/gambling using real money is bad, but once human is way better than any gacha that i know of, like genshin/undawn/any other online type of games. With $500 you will get all of it in once human but in genshin/undawn you will get shit.

It's just my opinion, but I never really cared about buyable skins in games, and most importantly I hate 'gacha games', because I am extremely unluncky.
I never did them so I don't know if the 'guaranteed item' is one of the 3 one star item, or all of them, but if it's all of them, it's not that bad, if it's only one, you better use that money to pay your futur mortgage.
Even tho Once human is still a bit popular for the moment, it will not last until the next 'extension' update. And this is the way of making big money for their free to play, that have ZERO pay to win, and I would personnaly like to keep it this way.

I rolled once on the new crate today and got the outfit... Rolled x10 on the last two and got just the most minor of rewards. Its just a dumb gamble lol
Lol, i don't see any problem with it. It's marketing, high price = exclusivity and that's what people with money buy it. The gambling aspect is just a way to lure people to try it. I don't see any problem with it. Just don't buy if you can't afford.
I personally think the way they solve this issue is to offer these loot crates items as one time purchase items after their popularity has died off. Like 6 months down the road or what not, but even then I could argue why they would want to do that. Ah well, I will shut up and watch the rest of the video now.
I greatly dislike the current model of the loot crate (treasure chest), but honestly I think I'd personally be more ok with it if after the 30 pulls you could select which of the fancy items you wanted to claim. I bought into the first pyro crates enough to get the 30 pull and ended up getting a gun skin for a gun I don't even use. It completely nuked my desire to invest in future crates because why would I want to spend that kind of cash on something I'm not even going to use. If I had been able to select the prize then sure I'd feel gross about having spent that much for the item but at least I'd have something I wanted and could use. Ideally I'd love for it all to just be in the store as stuff you could buy straight off, but I feel like that's not going to happen.

I get the low tier battlepass. Want the glass pack, of course, as the curved roof makes excellent greenhouse walls... but the lootboxes? I don't care what they have in those, I just won't do it. Just let me buy the damn thing - which truthfully is a waste of money in itself - without the lottery. That being said, I don't mind spending to support a free-to-play game. I just want to know what I am getting for my hard earned money.
I'm glad they try to keep it P2W free and totally understand if they need to monetize it somehow to keep the game going but the impossible pulls here.....gosh.

From what I know, China is clamping down on the loot box thingy, which is probably why the game started with you get what you buy type cosmetics, but this loot box model is just too lucrative for companies to pass up. The whales will whale. I have resisted buying cosmetics since the Bethesda horse armor, but dang this glass house pack looks good. F**king expensive though. Gotta say, Netease are good at what they do. Perhaps too good.

(In my experience, any game that sells housing decoration stuff, glass packs are the most valuable -- it's that way in Fallout 76, and I anticipated it would be here too.) Plus I want to support the game! It's a good game!
But these events are off-putting for exactly the reasons you mention. I want to support the GAME without supporting this kind of monetization.
Glass pack and the cat interior. Quite happy with both purchases and happy to pay for them. Loot boxes though are just a pure scam. I also went into my hive mates house who does not have either and decorated his house with glass and cat stuff...he wasn't impressed with the cat stuff though...dog person pffft!

The prices should be drastically lower OR allow the ability to obtain crytgin through the battlepass. Add enough so that the full amount at the end allows you to pick maxing out the Loot Crate OR obtain the next seasons battle pass. Dropping $360 USD to max the items is Phucked

i'm glad the cosmetics of the battle pass are of such good quality and i actually like the current costumes of it more than the loot box costume 3 tops outside of the main costume is good. also, i just love cargo's. i also like the furniture in it. can be used to set up a handful of aesthetics. gonna make a vet clinic scene for my tames.
i will say...so what if the game is F2P. a lot of people like to pretty things up but loot crates are also not a realistic approach for many people. i will always claim there should be a direct buy option and no one can change my mind on that. i also don't care if such a direct buy method could be more expensive than chancing on a loot crate.
You know what I was just sitting here looking and dwelling on how bad lightforge is went saw the rewards, would LOVE TO MENTION how they got the vampire eyes locked behind the lightforge rather than include it THE BLOODY VAMPIRE BATTLEPASS THEFUQ?!?! imagine being SO Toxic they are even taking it a step further and essentially baiting you into the purchases to make your battle pass set really feel finished x.x
I've bought out all crates, and it's been around $100-$250, but I 100% agree that the frequency is insane...and if I could just buy it that would be much better. Idm paying devs on a game I enjoy but it doesn't feel great having to gamble lol
I think the lightforge and gambling events have to go as they will only piss many players off. The battlepass is ok and another thing I would love to see is to be able to buy single part of the set cosmetic outfits rather than forced to buy the whole set.

I love your videos and this game and I definitely agree with you on this. The loot crates are taking it way too far. Even the cost of some of the cosmetic packs are pricier than I think they should be which also reminds me of the horribly implemented monetization of D4 and turned me away from it. I dont think it will end well in the end but we can only hope that it gets better.

I wanted to try to get the flashy reaper skin and support them but felt ripped off. There are people who want to support the game's development and they are going to far with it. They'll probably get a lot more if they make everything a reasonable than over priced things and really scummy loot boxes. Why would people spend so much on skins, when people can buy multiple games like 1-6 Final Fantasy XVIs or Space Marine 2s?
I'll probably be playing this game for a while and there's always going to be the cool next thing that I want. So I'll simply make a modest budget for myself and wait a long while between certain purchases so nothing is an impulse buy. Truth is given enough months you probably won't even use that neat skin or great piece of furniture you paid for. Every long term gamer knows how that goes. And we also have seen things hit sale already, so if you wait long enough you might get some decent stuff for really cheap.
Don't buy the gambling boxes unless you are willing to pay full price to get the guarantee.
for me its is super easy: as long as they dont upgrade their servers and get rid of the ridiculous lagg, i am not spending a cent on the game. It might look pretty, but the performance is at points borderline unplayable.

Oh wait, no it will not. They add more "loot crates" - without loot - and overall even less challenging content. Because app-players can't and will not handle complex mechanics. Maybe introduce some idle-dungeon modes aswell?!

When you have to spend over 300 dollars just to get everything in the light forge crates, that's completely greedy. It doesn't give off a good look either for a game company. While I understand you don't have to buy any of it it's still asinine. The glass pack is too expensive in my opinion too.
I usually just do 1 spin and the battle pass. And random clothes from any leftover coins i got. But even that is a lot of money.
Hopefully for me most of the skins in the shop looks ridiculous. SO I'm saving money!
I knew if the first Lightforge set did well its all we would get for the good skins. I hate it, I do not gamble. You see someone get what they want for 15, someone else pays 300 for the same thing. Its insanity. Until people stop buying it we will keep getting the gamba. I will say I do not see near as many people with the new set as I did with the first one or second...and its much cooler than the second one. This one is not selling well so hopefully we get something else next go around.
I dropped a week ago. The UI/UX is pure shit. No consistency whatsoever, WAY too many bugs, and they keep adding more crap. They care about $$$, and that's it.

I wouldnt mind so much if the price was only 100$. Its a bit too much to drop at once but I myself and my friends have spent alot more on games. Cosmetics occasionally or subscriptions to a game. Its usually more then what we originally told ourselfs we would spend. Overtime its easier to spend your money and not notice, compared to all at once.
Yeah I am not happy with how expensive it is. I spent 600 on two lightforge and I have a FOMO of collecting cosmetics for building design and fun. ugh.
I love your videos, they are super funny and entertaining, keep it up, I think the topic of loot boxes is quite abusive, it is true that no one forces you to buy them, just like the rest of the things in the store, but in my opinion it would be much nicer if the store simply existed and if you want the skin you buy it and that's it, as with the battle pass, I get the feeling, and I hope I'm wrong, of wanting to get as much money as possible now with the boom in the game and I'm afraid of its future.

There are defiantly better building games out there. I have a love/hate with this game. I hate that it resets so often. All my friends already quit because of that. But the play style is fantastic. I went from playing 10 hours everyday to logging on once a week. We are all just waiting for Dune Awakening to start.
