Well done, congratulations on completing the campaign :) it wasn’t an easy journey but I hope you learned a lot along the way and it made you a better Tomcat pilot. And thanks a lot for posting these videos!

Thank you, yes I feel I learnt a lot. Altho my flying is a bit like my guitar playing, I can never hit the right note twice! I will be going back & loading some of the Rags to try perfect more tho.
      Thanks for providing the experience!

@@lankypilot778 hehe, fair enough! Fwiw, i think i found the solution to the mig problem. I can share, if you want. It's all about the geometry.
Unfortunately, in the same attempt where i figured that out, i smacked the ground while strafing soldiers. The one after, i somehow blew myself up, when i dropped (wtf, DCS?!) And the third time, the game crashed as i was coming nose on the last mig for a gunshot.
      Absolutely rotten luck with 15...
Anyway, I'll come back and watch this one after I've beaten 15 and flown 16 for myself 😊

      @lankypilot778  Рік тому

Oh yes definitely no spoilers, I always say never watch my vids until you've flown! More than welcome to share the geometry :) More & more I'm starting to think I should buy a lotto ticket getting as far as I did!

@@lankypilot778 hehe - either that, or I'm on the wrong side of a curse! :D
In terms of the geometry, what I've had some success with recently has been to resist the urge to turn in on the bandits prematurely and keeping some lateral separation to them and Paco up until knife-fight range.
When Paco calls the "I'll take the x bandit, you take the other", my instinct's always been to turn into the bandit and put them on my nose, but that usually just leads to crossing paths with Paco and lining myself up to 2 Migs in close succession. This can easily result in getting suckered into a turn-fight with the first, where the trail bandit lines up the shot. Alternatively, ignore (dodge!) the lead bandit and turn in on the trail (which is your assigned target), with the result that the lead bandit gets an easy shot.
The Fishcans always want to 2c you, so the first step is to realize you want to counter that by forcing a 1c. Next, by maintaining some lateral separation up until the lead starts flaring and turning into you (2-3nm out), you end up turning their longitudinal separation into a somewhat horizontal one.
You still want to turn into the lead bandit to deny them an easy stern conversion into a Fox 2 "up the kilt", but you also want to focus on the trailing bandit, so what I end up doing is sort of describing an S, where I first turn hard into the lead bandit, dropping flares, then reverse into the trail bandit.
Typically, this means I'll be something of a 1c with the lead bandit, which causes problems for them, while working on a stern conversion on the trail bandit.
In my most successful attempt at this, I managed to take out the trail bandit with a min-range, high-aspect shot just as they came out of flaring like crazy, then immediately pulled hard and flared out an R-60 from the lead bandit, kept the turn in to make them overshoot, scissored them in front and got them with a similar shot.
It's not easy and it doesn't work every time, but it's the approach that I've had the best results with so far.

This campaign is amazing if the -14 is your thing. The -14 in DCS has never been ma plane I wanted to fly, mainly because of Jester and the workflow being separated between the front and back seat.
With how Reflected has scripted this campaign it almost makes me want to try it. But, Reflected has also started removing the players ability to control game settings by locking the options out in the mission editor. This is a huge no-no as a SP only person. He recently released his K4 and P51 campaigns again on the new Normandy 2 map and also at the same time removed those options from the players ability to dictate. With the state of the AI in DCS, this forced single player gameplay experience that he thinks I need to experience his campaigns has made me not want to purchase anymore of them in the future. DCS AI is too buggy to have to re-fly campaign missions when they are not heavily scripted like this campaign is.
Makes it hard to justify support when he's creating a tailored experience he wants, not me. Or one where I don't have the ability to tailor it more to my ideal experience.

I disabled unlimited ammo, fuel and such obvious cheats, and removed the ability to navigate via the F10 map, because realistic navigation is part of the fun when flying warbirds. This hardly has anything to do with the AI. Also, I didn't create a 'tailored experience that I want', but a 'realistic experience, regardless who wants what'. What is the specific setting that I enforced that you feel you really need to change?

Thanks for watching, yes it can be a bit of a challenge coordinating jester on the fly, altho I think Heatblur have done really well with the solutions they've come up with. And I believe an updated jester 2.0 is in works! Having Chig doing everything in this campaign was a treat tho, really well done.
Regarding the campaigns I can see how hard locked options can be frustrating to those wanting to customise, but I do respect wanting to create the most authentic experience & challenging people within that. It's something Reflected has been very open about when promoting campaigns, so I can't really fault him on that front. But I acknowledge there will be differing tastes. The ai can do some whacky things at times, but personally I haven't felt any unfair conditions to the point a mission couldn't be accomplished due to locked settings. Sometimes admittedly it's me whose mucked them up with what I've done!

@@ReflectedSimulations Until you come over to my house and are wanting to play, I dont see the point in you dictating my options. I dont even often use them. But, I wont pay you any more if you think thats your place as a consumer. I dont get down like that. I never need someone to tailor what they think I need @ReflectedSimulations. I wont buy any more until I can have the freedom to make the campaign the way I want. I am disabled and dont have the ability nor desire to fly the same mission over and over if DCS becomes wonky. You can tell people how to play a video game, I am just not one of those cats. If this is your experience moving forward, it is no big deal, I just wont be supporting it.
I am just a small sample of people that may enjoy your content and DCS, but I do it with caveat's. You took that ability away from me.

@@lankypilot778 This campaign is absolutely amazing. I am so happy you did it. What an absolute challenge. Reflected killed it, and if you wanted to learn how to become proficient in the -14, this single campaign can do it, if you practice the lessons.

@@CageyLobster again: what is the setting that I enforced and you can’t live without? I’d like to know specifically. Some settings are enforced because the mission would break otherwise. But some can be changed. Also, if you check the box ‘override mission settings/ no force from mission’ in your settings then the problem is solved.
