I'm SO glad I got to experience this in its original form before the refurb.
Same but I didn’t record
Why they ruin a Great Atracction with screens and poor Story?? Imaigineering lost their identity
Not only did they remove the squid they also removed all the audios and lighting effects that made the submarine feel alive. There is no more captain Nemo or crew talking throughout the scenes, there used to be dialogue in the line, in the treasure room, in the chambre; on your way to the exit... They also removed all the mechanical and deep sea sounds, you used to hear the crew working and the submarine brewing. There are no more lighting effects in the treasure room. No more organ music (they completely deleted the original soundtrack) and the Captain Nemo figure is nowhere to be seen as it was in the organ before. This update is a disgrace, especially to Tom Scherman' s memory, this ride was his passion project of a lifetime,. He died a few months after the opening. He was the most knowledgeable Nautilus fan in the world! This doesn't even feel like a Jules Verne attraction anymore, just a cheap under the sea screen based ride. A dead silent museum with no mystery or adventure awaiting.
No more theming. No more story. No more passion! Thank you Disneyland Paris for ruining yet AGAIN another ride😮💨
What would you rather bring back
@@lightningforesthd3446the squid
While I agree with everything else, to be fair, the squid was not working anymore and it showed, maybe they'll bring it one day but before the refurb it was not looking good
C’est mieux maintenant
Words literally cannot express how upset I am to see they got rid of the giant squid. I remember that thing scaring the crap out of me as a kid and was honestly really looking forward to seeing it again one of these :((
Oh no, why did they remove the giant squid? It was the best part of this attraction.
disney just love screens
@@Daddy_Tsport_NLcause there’s p@rn
What do you think happened to it? Storage or destroyed?
i guess electroshocking the squid is animal abuse in 2023
@@038alpha Fucking ESG scores.
Did Disney take a class called “how to ruin a themed land 101” or something? They completely ruined Discoveryland for no reason. First with Buzz (great ride, wrong park), then HyperSpace Mountain and now the nautilus.
Don't forget Mickey's Philarmagic 😬
save money on rides hike prices for parks = new disney philosophy
They've been ruining the legacy of their film library, so why not continue with ruining there park attractions too.
Is it me or A LOT of other effects, lights, music and audios have been removed? Two years for them to ruin the attraction? What was the point?
Exactly! Also do you think they archived the audio files in a storage facility
We should start a petition
No longer has anything to do with Jules Verne's Nautilus. They might as well have Ariel and Flounder floating around when they open the viewing window for all the connection it has any more to the original story. Experienced this attraction in 2001 when it was still in its original version and it really was mysterious - no idea why they felt the need to spoil it.
Waw, 2 years closure just to remove all the stuff worth seeing. Ludicrous.
My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
So it's already the 2nd attraction, after Phantom Manor, that Daniel Joseph destroys.
How do you come up with the idea of removing THE highlight of the attraction and replacing it with whales and dolphins on a screen?
The attraction is called "Les Mystères du Nautilus", but what are the Mysteries of the Nautilus now? Will dolphins swim past or a whale? How can you come up with such an idea/decision?
100% agreed... But what details did he ruin at Phantom Manor? I know the old version very good (last visit in 2009)
@@High-Performance-IQ Thanks!
In a podcast with "The Tomorrow Society" - Ep. 127, from 38:40 on he tells that it was his idea, that the phantom should always stand behind Melanie, which I think is just cheap. He is also the reason why the „All is Vanity“ skull in the mirror, in Melanies Boudoir scene, is gone and was replaced by the phantom look through mirror effect, which he is „most proud of adding it.“
(Unfortunately I haven't visited DLP yet - and I am extremely sad that I did not experience the attractions in their original form)
@@AnimatronicWorld The phantom manor refurb has mostly been pretty good, but the fact they changed the last phantom animatronic from his rotting true version and that melanie is now this evil want to marry everyone hag is awful. Original story of a tormented bride was much better
@@Uthyr_Pendragon To be fair, I don't think Melanie is meant to be evil in the new version, for most of the ride she seems to still be her tortured yet innocent self whose story has only been changed from "lost her long-time fiancé on the wedding day" to "keeps seeing every man she wants to marry die one after the other". By the end of the ride, she just seems to have gone insane due to her loneliness and is so desperate to have company that she's willing to marry anyone who will say yes. I do agree though, that it's a shame they have him laugh maniacally in that scene, that wasn't necessary and doesn't sound like Melanie, not even a completely insane version of her.
They removed the giant squid and replaced it with projection effects, what a loss to a previously great walkthrough
Bastards
THEY REMOVED THE F-CKING SQUID??
Blame Iger and his woke sycophants.
[4K] Les Mystères du Nautilus: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - PAUVRE - Disneyland Paris
Typical
Cars Road Trip’s creative team strikes again…
I guess the octopus suffered the same fate as disco yeti. It probably broke down and was too expensive to fix. So let's just throw in a large tv and show swimming fish.
No giant squid attacking the sub.
Bring it back!
Rest In Peace Mireille 😢
The problem is that no one have ever heard or read anything from Jules Verne or knows the movie and due to this no one knows about the octopus. In my opinion thats why they choose dolphins and whales instead. I hate this both....the missing ocotpus attack and that no on knows Jules Verne any more. It was one of the best themed attraction world wide....it was. Now it is a "normal submarine walkthrough" and has nothing to do with the Nautilus or Capt. Nemo. It is a shame.
Exactly my thoughts. It's a shame that they changed it. But I understand the way they tried. Hopefully history will repeat itself and they will bring at least some of the old charm back. At phantom Manor the fans succeeded. I hope it will be the same with the Nautilus. Shouldn't be that difficult to apply a new scene to the screen.
A LOT of people still read Jules Verne, they still teach about him in schools too. His books are still being adapted to this day! Moreover, if that was true, it’s not because something is forgotten by the general public that we shouldn’t celebrate it or preserve it. This kind of arguments make no sense to me. Parks are supposed to make you discover new worlds
Tokyo Disney Sea still has an entire Jules Verne land while France is destroying the legacy of its own author…
@@biancasmindpalace9024or even better, bringing them fully back
Squid, not octopus. Any 5-year-old will know that they're different animals.
@@Thoralmir Well, it was a squid in the movie, but in the novel it was a horde of octopi.
WHERES THE OCTOPUS???????!!!!!!
Squid.

sad.... one of the things on my bucket list no longer exists...
Mate, the face creeped me out! Now I’m sad they stuffed it up!
Absolutely fuming they have gotten rid of the squid. It's an attraction not even worth the time of day anymore!! 🤬🤬🤬
I went there today and it's a shame the octopus was replaced by boring Sea animals but yes disney will never get it they better not change existing good things
Squid, not octopus.
I'm waiting for the announcement: sponsored by National Geographic 🐬
Why no squid???🙄🦑
Blame Iger.
where is the giant squid??? i was ready to do this attraction for the first time in 2 WEEKS and the change it to this????????
Totalement d'accord
National Geographic the ride
Downgrade. What were they thinking?
Bring back the squid!
Where is the SQUID!?😢
Merci beaucoup beaucoup pour votre super vidéo ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Avec plaisir 😊
🫧🦑🫧If you want an attack Squid, you will have to sail to Tokyo...The Ride there still has Squid tentacles attacking sub✌🏻
👋👋👋👋👋👋. Congratulation by your video. Congratulation! Wonderfull.
Literally (actually 100% literally) the only thing I remembered about the park was the squid. =(
Great video! Did you notice any (new) S.E.A detail?
It’s their current fetish
Plus screens damage our eyes
Why did they remove the best part of the walkthrough? The Squid was the star
The imagineer in charge didn't even read it...
NOOO I NEVER GOT TO SEE THE SQUID!
You should make a complaint
@@lightningforesthd3446 Not needed, Disney at the moment is falling down because their own mistakes in movies and parks. The kraken will return but in their losses and reputation.
@@JordiLA How will the kraken return?

The NatGeo-tilus
There is no rénovation in this attraction ! Only one screen in hight résolution to see fish !
So no more giant squid…..great
They tore the soul out of this attraction. The refurbishment is a disgrace to Jules Verne. They turned the Nautilus from this magnificent submarine, the first ever to be mentioned to be powered by electricity in an age, where the idea of a submersible boat was just explored (Jules Verne saw a demonstration of a french navy prototype submarine and came up with the idea of the Nautilus) and turned it into a generic, steampunk looking exploration sub. All of the background of why the sub was built by Nemo and his crew was taken and ripped apart, replaced with generic, family friendly bs
Yep.. Real shame. Not at all the same vibe. The original was terrifying.
@@florencelan491 Yeah
😢
Very lame. This is the end of the nautilus for me.
Ok DLP enough with the bs. Bring back that squid.
Disney est définitivement à vomir. Ce parc ne vaut plus rien.
Heu cet iris ...
