This song literally saved my life, this song still makes tears stream down my face. Blue October is such a underrated band and Justin’s story is amazing!! As a true fan of there’s I’m so fucking proud of him!!
Music is such a powerful medium, it can evoke so many emotions and give hope to do many. And when artists like this put so much of their personal experience into their songs, it really connects with others.
THE BEGINNING SPEECH: "THERE WAS A POINT IN MY LIFE...I WAS JUST SOOO IN LOVE WITH GOING REAL FUCKING FAST....AND THEN IT ALL SPUN OUT OF CONTROL....."
This song changed my life. I don't know if you'll see this in all your other comments but, regardless, thank you for the thought that you put in your videos, and how you relay those thoughts to us. It feels personal and special.
Thank you for your kind words. My main aim for my videos is to offer a deeper meaning to the songs I look at, to explore the stories and themes contained therein. It's an important factor to me in music, so when a song has a deep and important theme, it really resonates with me, and I want to share that with others who may, or may not actually realise the deeper meanings behind a song. All too often people pass metal off as meaningless, aggressive nonsense, whereas I've found it to be very much the opposite.
@@MetalHeadReacts All you've wanted for your videos comes across spectacularly, it really does. Over the past couple days I've been binging your stuff and I've gained an appreciation for metal I didn't have before and can genuinely call myself a fan of the genre. Thank you for replying! That made my whole night!
Glad you gave them a second chance, Justin has an amazing voice and he's so open about his demons to us. Please check out Blue October- bleed out live acoustic.
If you ever get a chance, watch an entire Open Book concert by Justin Furstenfeld. Entirely solo and acoustic. PHENOMINAL performance, he talks very openly about his addiction and mental health issues. I've attended at least 2 and would happily pay to see it over and over.
I was fortunate enough to see this live. Amazing start to finish. Do yourself a favor buy the full DVD. He pours his soul into the music and makes you feel it.
Yes he is great.. this is my favorite song and even though it has been done for years but I listen to it every night before I go to bed. Relates to me in so many ways even though I do not drink and never have but it relates to many of life's troubles in this crazy world. I just love this man. He sings just like ife is to him. So great. Love him and I am 72yrs old. Thanks for the review even though it has been like 3 years ago. I am so glad you reviewed it and loved him too. Love your channel. Never give up in life it always gets better. Never worry. TY 😊👌👋👋 Bonnie H in Michigan in USA. 4/6/2023
I'm glad to see you gave Blue October another chance they've got lots of great tracks like hate me.. falling into the ocean... Calling you ...home they really are a good band and Justin writes about real life feelings and emotions that he's dealt with through his life that makes to me for great lyrics I do the same thing as a Lyricist and a musician I sing and play bass has it been the front man for eight different local bands two that ever seem to do good was a man called Seans draplien... And silverdown we played the local scene in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Austin for several years I've seen hundreds of bands and listen to thousands of lyrics and by far hands down Blue October is one of the greatest modern rock bands of all time the way they incorporate violin and stuff into their music is amazing and I'm a metalhead also.... Keep on rocking bro
Thank you for this reaction, I love every version of this song, the official video is amazing and the acoustic version is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard.
every song is his story and thats what makes every piece absolute art even if a song or two arent your exact vibe its always his heart on his sleeve and its amazing
Just saw them for the 5th time this weekend here in Dallas, if you ever get the chance go and see them live,,,it is truly an experience you will never forget. I have fought with depression most my life and I told my wife going to their concert is like Therapy for me, hearing his life in songs makes me realize that what I feel depressed about is nothing compared to what others deal with on a daily basis, and I just need to suck it up and be more of a man that I am.
Great commentary on your vid metalhead. i really enjoyed listening to your opinions of the bands song. A few other songs this band has that i can recommend to you to react to are: Not broken anymore, Home, and King. You got a new subscriber, glad i found ya bud.
Strong men hide emotions Stronger men show them The strongest man can tell you what emotion it is and why. I can tell you're getting at least a little emotional in this video, and that's wonderful. Some people think that emotions are weakness. Even more so in men, especially "hardcore" people like metalheads (me too).
Thank you man. I'm so glad you liked it. More people need this song. A lot of people say he sounds like Peter gabriel from genesis. Ask him to help you carry on could also refer to a therapist. I think that's why its vague so you can say therapist or God
You make a valid point about "ask him to help you" I'm not sure about the Peter Gabriel bit though, although I can maybe see it a little. After listening to it again however, it did slightly remind me of the track "Illusion" by VnV Nation. But that may have just been the style of the track itself more than his vocal styling.
He might be reminding you of Peter Gabriel. Whomever suggested "Dirt Room" as your first listen to Blue October was likely not aware that you were unfamiliar. You're quite handsome. I used to have that shirt when I was about 15!
I can kind of hear it in certain songs, I think in one of their videos I reacted to, I mentioned he sounded a bit like Peter Gabriel. So I can see how some might hear Phil Collins
I shall check out the video, but it was suggested that I check the live version by several people because of the emotion in his voice is better shown live. But I will certainly check out the official video.
Blue October is my favorite band and of all, their songs dirt room and razor blade are my least favorite songs. Everything else is amazing and I love how open he is with his life's journey in song.
Dirt Room is maybe the worst first song as an intro to Blue October. I hope you will take the time to start with their first Album, The Answers, and work your way through their full career. A band that has been together for 26 yrs and who has put out as many albums as they have, has something going for them

THE BEGINNING SPEECH: "THERE WAS A POINT IN MY LIFE...I WAS JUST SOOO IN LOVE WITH GOING REAL FUCKING FAST....AND THEN IT ALL SPUN OUT OF CONTROL....."
Finally someone listens to something else besides Hate Me.
I love this one, Dirt Room and Worry List. Those are just some of my favorites by Blue October

Agreed, it's power!
One of the best songs ever made!

Amazing reaction !!!...please more Blue October...the rabbit hole goes even deeper my friend !

If you want to find emotions you've long since forgotten, Blue October is what you need!
Seen them 9x's live going this year to. He does an acoustic version for almost every song he has. I like Daylight from there new album.
I agree, amazing song. Justin is my favorite vocalist ever. His music helped me get through some tough times in my younger days.

I recommend Acustic live version of Hate Me and I Hope You're Happy! You won't be disappointed. He wrote those two songs to be slow acoustic versions.
Black Orchid by Blue October

That was a great show.
This song is amazing I call it my song to explain me

He was PISSED during Dirt Room
Crystal Smith that was a very dark time for him indeed. It’s so amazing to see how far he’s come since then.
@@solomonswishbabe it's hard to believe that he lived from "Hate Me" to "Home" I'm so proud of him
I love blue october this song hear is the track to my life
Every track is a chapter of his life, so incredibly personal. That's the beauty of Blue October.
Strong men hide emotions
Stronger men show them

"worry list" is great too
INCREDIBLE SONG AND LYRICS! I love you heart felt genuine reaction to the true message of this song. Its powerful. God bless.
Bless you all

In the lyrics that come with the CD him is capitalized (Him) so I just assumed he was talking about God.
Blue October is my all time favorite band so my family is forced to listen to them quite a bit. My mom always says he sounds like Peter Gabriel.
He might be reminding you of Peter Gabriel. Whomever suggested "Dirt Room" as your first listen to Blue October was likely not aware that you were unfamiliar. You're quite handsome. I used to have that shirt when I was about 15!
This band has changed my life,,,Alot of people say he reminds them of Phil Collins, but I don't really hear that
I can kind of hear it in certain songs, I think in one of their videos I reacted to, I mentioned he sounded a bit like Peter Gabriel. So I can see how some might hear Phil Collins
This version of the song recently got copy right claimed
You have to watch the music video with it not the live version
I shall check out the video, but it was suggested that I check the live version by several people because of the emotion in his voice is better shown live. But I will certainly check out the official video.
Please do Bleed Out by Blue October, music video
The live acoustic session ;)
Always love your reacts.. check out his acoustic version of this if you haven’t.

Yeah Dirt Room is not one of the good ones, he was really spiralling out of control. I think the song A Quiet Mind is really beautiful
His fear is using again he was addicted to prescription and illegal drugs he had a choice drugs or his family
