Though I’m also not a massive fan, it looks like it’s the narrative and editing style he’s adapted so… I say fuck what me and all these people have to say, and do your thing John! 🤘🏻 ps: they’re not metaphors, they’re similes
When it got to the cutting-edge, innovative BX Digital "Mono Maker" function, it became clear lol And that foreground-background dimension trick was something that Pensado covered in one of his videos a while ago by using a transient shaper--it doesn't require using a specific plug-in (or at least not when Dave covered it).
The trick: the better something is mic'd, the more likely it will mix itself. One example: overdubbing multiple backing vocals. Try tracking them at varying mic distances. Or a horn section: gather them around a great mic or stereo pair. In a great room. Let them play as loud as they need to. Few things sound worse in a mix (sibilance or phase issues aside) than a horn section playing timidly in a bad room. Most hit records were made well before the existence of mono makers or MS EQ (as a process not a mic technique). Listen to what you're aiming for (ie: the destination, with everything in for context). Solo less. Take regular breaks.
The best side chain compressor is Sonible Smart Compressor in Full spectral mode, it only ducks the frequencies used by the side chain feed, makes the ducking almost transparent, I usually bus all the instruments with lower frequencies on their own bus, that way you are not just ducking the bass, keys,808’s and whichever instruments are masking, very transparent and powerful.
Your video's come with a lot of gems and amazing info, but I would balance the editing and methaphors a bit. It would be way more enjoyable in my opinion! Keep up the good work.
I always use linear phase when cutting low frequencies from the mono channel. Minimum phase can cause phase issues, as the m/s encoder and decoder dont sum back properly
the tips are pretty decent but they are all tips from other engineer's thats all online already. id love to hear examples or a unique take on it, not just hey i watched pensado's place and copy paste what people say.
Yeah, you nailed it. Here is just a copy and paste talker, pretending to know things when just talking other peoples statements. In fact he only creates internet waste.
@DerekJohn that can be true but we are talking about audio if they repeat what's been said good creators show it in action. And 100% of all content made is like this video. Had go unsubscibe.
If you were to streamline your content creation process by half, I'm convinced the quality of your output would significantly improve. My aim is not to devalue your current efforts; I merely believe there might be an overshoot in your endeavor. On the bright side, this means you could potentially craft better content in less time. The quest for "perfectionism" can sometimes be a double-edged sword, detracting from your work. Achieving equilibrium is key. Please consider this as just my viewpoint, yet I'm quite sure that by moderating the pace and intensity of your creativity, you could see enhanced results. Best of luck!
*LOL* Every time I click on a video with a title and thumbnail like this one, I know what's coming ...prrrrreaaaaat... hot air .. now back to the job ;)
Not quite sure about the SC part w FF Pro-C2 - what is sidechaining what? Was a bit fast there and every time i rewind that chipmunk ‘What about the snare’ is killing me lol Nice tips though ty for sharing
Thank U. Great Trick.
Took eight minutes to say: use multiband compression. Not usually one to hate, but this video could have easily been 2-3 min. A clickbait title to share some basic techniques… I like some of your videos, but I feel bad for anyone who sat through this entire vid. This is pretty much just ‘content’.
I think all of this hype around chasing the rabbit in terms of strictly copying what the pros use and do is counter-intuitive to the creativity inherent to making music. As long as you're abiding by the core fundamentals, why not just build upon them by implementing your own flavors? Additionally, while its great to have all of this information at our fingertips, it's easy to get lost in a feedback loop of analysis paralysis because you're shifting the blame caused by lack of experience and training to the plugins and techniques that you use or don't use. Stop chasing, stop thinking, stop deflecting, and start training. More importantly... start being creative.
man, too many things in one video, not really great detail, too much talk, over-edited, claustrophobic, rushed feel.... bling bling phrases and metaphors that do not mean too much, plus the music in the background...... too much talk, and not real deep info...
This video is awesome ty so much, don't listen to old people with short attention spans, they want you to send them a detailed spread sheet, lol hey I would pay for a detailed proven list of technics! lets go... new idea.
Over edited. Too ADHD, with too much fluff and not enough beef. Get to the point dude. I want to like and subscribe but really can't ever make it through watching one of your videos all the way through, without skipping around, but still not even finding the bullet points, and finally frustratingly closing out the video/page. Take the various hints from commenters if you would like more subs and likes. It's like my mom or a teenager who finally discovered computers/phones can edit photos/videos...just because you can, doesn't mean you should do. Plugins Alley will continue to be on the avoid watching list as of now.
Alright, I agree with all sentiments, but you're a fucking absolute boomer for saying he would get more subs and likes. That isn't true, he'd get less.
This video is tiresome to watch... The editing, the texts on screen (if I want that, I can activate CC thank you)... No examples, just talking about '21st century's most respected mixers' like a late night promo on cable.
Your videos are amazing. Don't pay attention to these other comments saying that you need to change the way you make your videos. This is your style and this is what makes you different from other youtubers. I enjoy your content a lot, it's very entertaining and I never get bored with your videos at all
This video is just a messy array of metaphors and edits (no doubt to try to keep people's attention) but all you did was lose me on what you were actually trying to explain. This crazy editing is so unnecessary. Just make the point and show us what you mean. Ultimately though, this is just a load of plugin recommendations - as if these plugins are magic bullets. That just ain't good advice bro
OMG, you constantly use Andrew Scheps as a thumpnail for your videos??? A poor guy you must be. Also you rush through this video like a speed train. Never checked how to cut videos? It is to much. Understand? Too much!! Keep calm and chill.... this is just extremly stressful. No beginning and no end, too. Man, much you have to learn I think. No offence. Think about it.
Would love to hear all these techniques in a demonstration with your own mixes. I love your channel but it’s just starting to become overly click bait and Mr beast style. The knowledge you speak of is great but how we do know it’s working for you if we never hear not one snippet of audio you’re working on?

This was the most exhausting and frustrating video i've ever seen on UA-cam.
Right
I felt the same.
Glad it's not just me. Holy fk.
Too many metaphors lol tone it down a bit they’re distracting from the actual info
fr this video is over edited imo
Though I’m also not a massive fan, it looks like it’s the narrative and editing style he’s adapted so… I say fuck what me and all these people have to say, and do your thing John! 🤘🏻
ps: they’re not metaphors, they’re similes
Too many cuts, distracting.
I agree
I have no idea how people find that cool enough to add it to a video
I'd like to get into this but how about some audio examples of these tricks?
This sounds more like an advertisement and also the „genius“ tricks are very standard.
Plugging "Pugins"! 😉
When it got to the cutting-edge, innovative BX Digital "Mono Maker" function, it became clear lol
And that foreground-background dimension trick was something that Pensado covered in one of his videos a while ago by using a transient shaper--it doesn't require using a specific plug-in (or at least not when Dave covered it).
Tell me this is a paid advertisement without telling me this is a paid advertisement 😂 Gonna go look for that 4th dimension 😂😂
Looking for that 4th dimension. That's a cool song title.
Happy hunting
🤣
At the end of the video, I thought in my head. OK here's the pitch now" Then he pitched his next video.... HAHAHHA
If only it had actual sauce 💀 look up alexmadeit bro he leaks emails, audio school material, etc

too edited video, hard to watch tbh
spot on

Doesnt any reverb have a distance control you can automate, call pre-delay ?
I always use linear phase when cutting low frequencies from the mono channel. Minimum phase can cause phase issues, as the m/s encoder and decoder dont sum back properly
what pro tools theme did you use?
standard theme just pushed the tracks color settings
the tips are pretty decent but they are all tips from other engineer's thats all online already. id love to hear examples or a unique take on it, not just hey i watched pensado's place and copy paste what people say.
Sometimes the reality is just “hey there’s this cool thing, I learned it from this guy, go ahead and try it”
Yeah, you nailed it.
Lol, the title was LITERALLY "Tricks FROM Pro Mixers You Should Steal!". I dunno what You expected, but I got EXACTLY what the title promised! 💁♂
If only it had actual sauce 💀 look up alexmadeit bro he leaks emails, audio school material, etc
This was great, thanks for the tips compilation 👍🏾
The most important trick to mixing is mastering the tools you already have as opposed to trying to get your hands on the fanciest plugins
Nice and helpful vids, but it would be nice if you could show audio examples for the tricks.
If you were to streamline your content creation process by half, I'm convinced the quality of your output would significantly improve. It'd be sweet to hear you talk more in-depth about the sidechaining kick and snare bit, sounds really interesting!
Not quite sure about the SC part w FF Pro-C2 - what is sidechaining what? Was a bit fast there and every time i rewind that chipmunk ‘What about the snare’ is killing me lol
Nice tips though ty for sharing
it would be great to have some examples and actually demonstrate it
Came for the sounds. Didn't find any.
It is a click bait.. They know what people are looking for , making poor content
not a single tip was revealed...just $200+ plugins lmao

Its like youtube implemented a word minimum he had to reach before uploading. He's just saying words to say words
Bro got in shape, congratz!
Thank you Quagmire
Where is the video of Dan braunstein explaining the C2 thing?
Not to crass, but did you say "Lingham Park"?
So I only have to scope out a bunch of money for some plugins to get a better mix. Noted.
had to ride the fader to save my ears
normally when you cover mixing tips you show how the mixing tips change your sound, not just say vageuly what it kinda does!
So good
waves knob behave odd under logic arm
This video is awesome ty so much, don't listen to old people with short attention spans, they want you to send them a detailed spread sheet, lol hey I would pay for a detailed proven list of technics! lets go... new idea.
and flashing text
so annoying
hitting don't recommend channel
good luck ✌🏿
Shut up w the ai like text just give the info
HAHA!
man....just run your mix through ANALOG....and Panning does this and guess what? it sounds more real LOL
For sure. Gonna sell my car be right back
All ad, no actual info…nope
Way to much going on with the plug in, ill stick to automating with my pro q3

Man, these gimmicks are so stressful.
Too much blablabla sorry

This is your style and this is what makes you different from other youtubers. I enjoy your content a lot, it's very entertaining and I never get bored with your videos at all
It is what makes him like every single other youtuber.
What is it that you're trying to say?
This is sorely missing examples :(
More gimmicks than info. Bye.
🥱

Exactly what I have though. At the end I didn’t get he he tried to explain.

Yeah this video has barely any info 🤷🏿♂️ its like listening to AI
Would love to hear all these techniques in a demonstration with your own mixes. I love your channel but it’s just starting to become overly click bait and Mr beast style. The knowledge you speak of is great but how we do know it’s working for you if we never hear not one snippet of audio you’re working on?
what is bro talking about
Just one word: Terrible..... 🤦♂
I don't know what the hell you're saying in this. AI will be able to do all of it for us in a few years anyway I bet.
These videos are way too dramatic and stretched out for what they offer. I, for one, couldn't even get through the whole thing.
Dude, in this video you may cut the 70 percent of bla bla and make a two minute video explaining everything you've just said.
No offense intended, but your videos are a little too frenetic! Too busy! Slow it down a hair! Less edits would be beneficial too! Just sayin!
thumbs down
Bro is abusing similes.
Long advertisement...Im dizzy
was this script written by AI? wtf lololol
hey its ya boy trick stealer...smh
god you're american lmao
Damn cut these cringe memes every 2 seconds. Unwatchable.
ugh the uptones in the way you talk make listening to this video like being stabbed in the ears
Man, this style is too exhausting to watch. Calm it down a bit and it will be much more watchable.
An extremely irritating video. Thanks anyway for trying
Ug.
Clickbait title
this guy talks waaaaaaaay too fast
stop yapping omg
Nah sorry
