    As a Norwegian I gotta (begrudgingly) hand it to my Swedish neighbors this is a hell of a aircraft just awesome to fly.

    Rb 24J: Swedish designation of the AIM-9P3 Sidewinder.

    IR-RB FRAMSTEGN button (left side of cockpit) allows you to select which missile station to fire, so you don't have to start with RB-24 missiles. If the Data Selector is in TAKT mode, the missile station selected will blink.

    The RB24 is an AIM-9B and the RB24J is an AIM-9P.
    The RB74 is indeed an AIM-9L but I wouldn’t call that missile modern, it was the first Sidewinder with an actively cooled seekerhead which allowed the missile to detect and track not only the hot engine exhaust but also the outlines of an aircraft which gives it All Aspect capabilities. This is tech from the mid to late 1970s.

      The RB-24J is a license-produced AIM-9J (1:1), the AIM-9P is the export version of the J with slight changes to for example to the fuze..

    Hoping they implement JA37, the air superiority version with the Skyflash missile. Dunno if the Skyflash is implemented in the game tho, so maybe it won't be for that reason. We may get the Gripen before the Fighter Viggen >_

    • @jakobholgersson4400

      @@Paveway-chan DI stood for Digital Instrumentation, it had a cockpit featuring a Gripen-style user interface (with readouts in NATO standard units) as well as upgraded avionics and some other electronics. I believe it was the final upgrade the Viggen received and only fewer than 20 planes got it.

    • @AdurianJ
      @AdurianJ 5 років тому +5

      @@jakobholgersson4400 The standard Viggen got chaff and flare dispensers in the early 90's but the JA-37Di Viggen could carry up to four AIM-120B AMRAAM's or three AMRAAM's and a U95 ECM pod which is an X-band all round jammer for use against targeting radars like those in the nose of fighters.
      The JA-37 viggen is actually about a ton heavier than the AJS-37 but it also has a more powerful engine.
      The wing is reinforced to AIM-9L's can be carried on all six weapons pylons. The radar is an all digital pulse Doppler radar that can track two targets at once.
      The Viggen has a datalink to the ground and another between up to four other JA-37's so only one needs to use it's radar.
      It also has an INS system so it won't loose it's position constantly like the AJS-37.
      The RWR is less advanced with 90 degree sectors instead of 60 degrees but if it carries the U95 that communicates via the 1553 Bus and shows potential enemies on the cockpit display.
      Oh and naturally it has an IFF system like all Swedish fighters the AJS only has the transponder.

      It is, more or less. The Skyflash was essentially a Sparrow with an inverse monopulse seeker. The Italians followed this up with the "Aspide" for their own AIM-7s, and finally with the US and the AIM-7M. The latter of which I believe is what's modeled on the F-15C and F/A-18C.

    I guess that the RADAR lock will be very useful in a more or less cloudy environment. Have you found out the maximum distance at which the RADAR can pick up a target?

    RB-24 is a 9B, the RB-24J is a 1:1 copy of the AIM-9J, the export version of that is the AIM-9P-3

  • @MidnightmoonRR
    @MidnightmoonRR 4 роки тому +2

    Basically the 24J is the same as the F-5E-3's AIM-9P-5, Its really too bad we dont get the Rb 71, 98 and 99. would really improve the Air to Air capablity of the aircraft in the game.

    Hi Cap! Seeing that it's easy to shoot down the AJS37 in the GR mission, would like to know how to uncover ATA compat when an enemy has locked you up.

  • @GotSpaceGame
    @GotSpaceGame 2 роки тому

    Hey Cap. I've been reading the manual and it looks like there's a way to fire the inner stations first. When you put the trigger unsafe, the flight computer will show 1s and 0s representing each station and whether there's a weapon there. If you have the weapon selector switch ready to go, the station that's about to fire will be flashing. For most types of missile you can cycle the active station by pressing the button on the left side labelled IR-RB Framstegn. It's on the big square metal box located behind the throttle. Not had time to test it myself yet but i might give it a crack after work. Apparently it works for the RB05, RB15, BK90 and RB75 and Sidewinder

    Hello All!
    I'm extremely new to DCS and bought the Viggen as I've always been a fan. However, the leaning curve in terms of Radar and Weapons seems to be huge! The DCS training seem quite arbitrary and not very well explained. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to succinctly learn about these? I just don't know where to start! P.S. I need to add that I speak Swedish to a reasonable standard and it really doesn't help that much! 😅 In general I'm loving DCS....I just need to be less bad at it!

      Hi Ainsley! I know I'm a bit late on the reply, but I just figured I'd point you to a resource in case you hadn't been already. I'd highly suggest looking up Chuck's Guides, he does detailed guides for most aircraft in DCS and tends to cover most topics in a generalized manner, so it's a good place for getting yourself up and running on the basics. Beyond that there are the actual aircraft manuals imbedded in the aircraft files which give much more detailed info, though they can be a lot to digest.

      @@ainsleystones4600 I'm a year late but I just bought this module and didn't pick it up for a week because I thought it was too complicated. First, learn how to use the computer, especially the data cartridges waypoints. That will allow you to more or less set up everything else and you will start to see similarities between the various weapon systems and how the viggen handles them.

      @@ainsleystones4600 no problem, there are plenty of great videos about it on UA-cam not specifically grim reapers, checking out how to create waypoints on the f10 map, how to check different data cartridges and what is on them, how to change waypoints to target points, the more you know the of this one thing the more the plane will unravel before your eyes, most of the other stuff (shooting, landing take off configs, radar) will come naturally once you are comfortable with actually guiding your airplane to the target. I am purely an English speaker and once I learned this understanding how to employ weapons came easy. I'm glad this was even relevant to you, it's a very fun plane to fly and destroy stuff, wouldn't want you to miss out:)
