- Please don't feel shy about leaving a tip, I am not above accepting small donations!
I think the way it works is you click on 'Join' and become a member at the selected donation level, $3, $8 or $20. All three tiers are the same, I'm not going to provide any extra content or special stuff for the different levels. If you WANT special stuff and extra content you should check out my Patreon page. I write a weekly blog, post lots of photos, and upload videos early, and also, you get to participate in the magazine/book raffle.

Why do I make extra stuff for Patreon and not UA-cam? Because I started the Patreon with my channel 2.5 years ago, and don't feel like going though all that again. If you like the channel and think to yourself, 'This handsome young man has been giving the world free intellectually-stimulating content for almost three years, and by Jove! I'm going to send him a little money to say thank-you!' What can I say? Your parents must have raised you right.
(I also appreciate likes and comments, but you could also buy me a beer, that's all I'm saying.)
Great video! Nice to have a different type of pace to a video, Nice Collection too!
Thanks Dragon's Breath. I thought it would be fun to do something a bit different, although I always feel a bit reticent with books I haven't read. All I can do is hold them up and say, 'This is a book I haven't read yet!'
I will work on my camera skills for making this kind of video and hopefully have another one some time soon. (Remember soon is a very relative term with me.)
I really enjoyed this and look forward to seeing more of this bookshelf series
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will try to figure out how to film the next one a little better, and hopefully it won't be long before you see the next one!
Now THAT's a wonderful personal library. Thanks for sharing! Instant sub. 😎📚👍
Thanks a lot Rumpus! There's more where that came from!
I liked Atwood's Alias Grace. I recommend Alice Munro's short stories. 2666 is on my reread list. Borges is on my TBR list. Yes, more bookshelves!
Hello Jack! You've read Alias Grace? Why am I not surprised? I've read Alice Munro's older collections of short stories. I think that was one of my very first videos, when I went to Victoria and visited Munro's Books.
I had fun with the bookshelves tour. Although I need to work on the camera angle and talking more directly to the microphone and not turning my back so often to the camera. But I think I will do another one. Though I am not sure when. I've only got 7 more chances to do it.
More bookcases please. Currently reading Bolano’s -Monsieur Pain Love your vids
I'm happy to hear that about the Bolano. I'm a bit worried after Savage Detectives, but really intrigued to read more. Perhaps more bookcases coming soon, people have been asking for more.
Hi Grant please more bookshelf tours I enjoyed it.I’ve read 2666 and I liked it at times and not at other times but it’s worth reading
Thanks Steven, I won't be getting to 2666 any time soon, but it does alway catch my curiosity. Thanks for writing!
Good to see you and hear about your books. Thanks.
Thanks a lot Deb! My pleasure!
Love your channel, just discovered it. I’m a big fan of Bill Bryson. I own: I’m a Stranger Here Myself, African Diary, Thunderbolt Kid, Dictionary of Troublesome Words, In Sunburned Country, Lost Continent-Neither Here nor There, A Walk in the Woods. Really liked “A Walk in the Woods” (a movie was made of it) and “The Thunderbolt Kid”.
Thanks a lot Allen. I am also a huge fan of Bryson, there was a long period of my life where I had to read everything. I even found his books a little addictive, I could pick them up and read them over and over. I liked his histories of the English language, and also I liked his travel books. A Walk In The Woods was amazing! It made me want to walk that trail.
Amazing, can't wait for the rest of them, something tells me there will be more of these :) Loved the story about Machado De Assis, hope that student is alive and well and finds your channel. I'm also on the hunt for Bras Cubas, was nice seeing that edition in "person", maybe my favorite cover that i've seen.
Thanks for writing. I often wonder what has happened to all the students I once had classes with. If they ever remember me, and probably I have forgotten so many of my students, I wouldn't recognize them on the street. I always hope my Brazilian students are doing well, I know Brazil can be a dangerous place.
It's funny, I never really looked at the cover until I made this video, and then I noticed the hand at the bottom of the empty portrait. I'm really happy I found this edition!
More bookcase, especially if there's more Boll. Haven't read that one of his, but most everything else. Mostly, if not sadly, overlooked these days. All the best to you.
Thanks Sal, hope you are doing well. I still haven't read any Boll, I hope this will be a good introduction. I think I generally start with an author's 'best book.' And then am disappointed with everything else. So if this isn't his best, I can work my way up, which is something I have always wanted to try.

I’m starting to think this guy might like books
