- The Parnis Submariner is a watch everyone hopes to be an incredible sub-$100 watch. They want it to be everything they’re looking for at an incredible price.
In this review I hope to inform you of exactly what you'll get for your ~$80.
Part 1:
• Parnis Submariner Unbo...
you know what? $80 watch, with sapphire crystal, auto movement and ceramic bezel, I'm not complaining.
I agree with you completely about the clasp. I own several Parnis watches, I have literally changed EVERY clasp for the standard Brushed or center polished rolex style fold over clasp. They suit the watches MUCH better and not only wear far more comfortably but they make the watch much easier to put on.
Very nice! It is an upgrade for sure
Do have a link for those clasps?
I know some of your dislikes are personal preferences which i understand but i have multiple Parnis watches and I am extremely impressed with the workmenship and quality for the price. I have $ 500+ Seiko that don't come close to the Parnis in build quality. Mine all have a respectable level of lume. As far as the gap on the bracelet at the clasp that gap, for me, adds to the comfort by providing a bit of extra flex space which I like. At approx $100 - 125 usd I truly believe these are very fine timepiece. Thanks
I’ve dumped the strap and I’ve replaced it with a nato,it’s fun to change colours I’ve also put a thick hand made leather on it ,it then looks expensive and I’ve had compliments, on a nato I’ve worn it in the pool no problems, incredibly cheap this watch but the overall quality is amazing, bliger is also fantastic.
If you ever look at a 8215 movement from an open case back watch. You’ll notice if you give it a spin it takes off on its own for about 10 or 12 full rotations. It’s an auto gyro winding system that citizen incorporated into some of their movements
I swished one of these in a bowl of water, and the left it for a day. It didn't leak. It is not perfect, but there is nothing better for the money. Try the Parnis 200m diver with the Miyota movement. Only a few pounds more, but has a 200m WR rating. My only real complaint is the lack of lume, but let's be honest, does it really matter4
I have this in blue and it’s not bad for a beater, my grips with it is there is not enough micro adjustments and the underside digs into my wrist a bit, I’ll probably swap it out for a Barton strap.
I'm pretty sure that your clasp problem is caused by the unbalanced link number on your outer and inner side.. remove some links on your inner side and add links on your outer side..
No, They all do the same thing, It's the way the clasp is made, really odd when you compare a Parnis clasp to any other.
What would your recommended alternative be?
Could always go with the classic Invicta Pro Diver which is a little cheaper. Or can go a little more expensive with a Phoibos or SKX. All great options. The Parnis is kind of the inbetween red headed step child.
The Loreo is another great alternative. The only thing is that it doesn't have the ceramic bezel. It has a stainless steel bezel insert instead. Nothing wrong with that I just much prefer ceramic. You can find them for around $70 if you order from china or $125 through Amazon but the watch will arrive in a day or 2 and easy returns.
@@CC-oc3jv Good suggestion! I have seen a lot of reviews on that watch, but have not picked one up myself for review. The only thing that really is stopping me is the polished center links on the bracelet. I'm not a big fan of that look. Other than that it has great specs.
Pagani Design. 100 metres wr, better clasp, Seiko NH35a movement, ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, screw stift links and a nice window backplate. Although it's a 43 mm big case.
It’s an under $100 automatic watch. It’s not gonna be Rolex regulated?? Cherish that it’s a decent time piece for a decent price.
This watch is 'factory second' (as are probably most ebay parnises), hence the lack of lume. For better quality buy through Parnis official website. Anyway good review.
I totally agree. I think it would be interesting to see what parnis.com has as they claim to have upgrades to the ones they sell to distributors/ebay sellers, etc.
This is what most people don't know
@@mohamedelyaouti2051 I agree with that
Watches from parnis.com dont have lume either.
I think that's bullshit to get you to buy it from Parnis and any company that makes two grades if their watches when they are trying to build international market share are idiots.
how would this compare to a tisell marine diver?
Tisell is obviously better quality, but more expensive. I would say the extra cost is worth it for the most part.
The Berg Source thanks for the reply!
Yeah I just got one of those for 60 bucks too. You're similar to my impressions. What the hell is that clasp , but is quality band. I have the blue sterile dial.
I have lume but not much even compared to the Bliger. The invicta better quality and a real diver not a 50m like my sale site said this one was. I have to ponder it for a while. Just got it. The invicta doesnt have that big wide square box around it.
Hearing impaired not annoyed by a rotor in it.
People, let his opinion send you to something better imo. Not much more get an invicta or better sub so many homages for a few bucks more.
Miyota movements have an auto gyro winding feature
Hi, people often complain about this movement because of the rotor noise and wobble. Is it really that bad? Because I've read good things about this movement from a shock , reliability and robustness standpoint
@@waris3732 to be honest I personally feel miyota movements are better than Seiko movements for accuracy and reliability.
@@hogongman4279 thank you for your reply. What about this rotor wobble and noise? Is it really that bad? I mean I have chingly jubilee bracelets that rattle everytime I give my watch a quick adjust...is it worse than that?
I just got a Bliger Sterile dial sub homage 40mm. It has lume. Wont go all night. 2 colored. Won auction for 35 $ and shipping. The invicta better.
sounds like a good find! How do you like it overall? I've heard the clasp is better than invicta and parnis.
@@thebergsource1242 its white with a ceramic bezel. Nice Cyclops reasonable cheapo lume lasted about an hour 2 color. These might be made in the same factory as Parnis . Same 30 water resistance screw down crown but I don't dive so it doesnt really matter. Got my moneys worth. Like but don't love. Invicta coin edge auto sub homage I have better. Much better watch. Sits better on wrist.
@@thebergsource1242 clasp is better than one you have there.
@@violinmke Very interesting! Thanks for the description!
@@violinmke I believe it!
Can u tell me what is better invicta pro or this one?
I actually just did a comparison of these 2 watches. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/JjDETzas10k/v-deo.html
If you aren't interested in the details, I chose the Parnis.
Parnis is much better. Sapphire Crystsl solid end links, Milled Claps and screw pins and a ceramic bezel. Invicta pro diver had NONE of those things!!
Invicta better built better but okay lume and 200m and seiko movement on most. Details slightly crisper no big square box on case.
Bro, I have two Invicta watches and other equally or more expensive watches. When I go to a strip club, the strippers are always locking in on the Invicta. The other watches just don't grab their attention like the Invicta.
As far as the bracelet, who ever sized it for you fuked up,they took off 2 links from one side only...they should have taken off 1 link from each side.
Hello! They don't specify water resistance... Do you know if it's 100m or 200m?
I did a lot of research on this and here is what I've found - technically they advertise as 30m of water resistance (which is basically splash proof), but the company has claimed 100m (can go swimming with it) in a Q and A.
@@thebergsource1242 thanks for your answer! I've seen a lot of people complaining about those Submariner which don't are actually submariner so I think for the price I'll pass and get an Invicta(?) Hahaha
@@daigoHR98 I support your decision! Invicta is cheaper and probably better build quality. Can always look at phoibos for a few extra bucks - they have a few good submariner homage-like watches
@@thebergsource1242 yes! Phoibos are awesome, maybe too much for my pocket but surely good pieces. Thanks for answering! Xx
Thats wierd no lume??? I just got the Parnis Hulk same one and mine has great lume!! Well not the best but its good for the price
I'm jealous! Yes! It was very strange... I just did a review of the Parnis GMT and it had decent lume. I'm guessing similar to what you are referencing. Thanks for watching!
How do you know it's only 30, not 200?
Can I ask what you are referencing?
The movement is a Japanese Miyota (as in Citizen watches).
I am not a fan of miyota.
I would prefer the Seagull S16 movement.
I think Loreo often use those.
If you want a serious dive watch you probably need to spend $300
pay 5 ot 10 times more for your "swiss made" watch, which has no more quality than this one and be happy with it. I am happy with my Parnis watches
I agree, it was definitely worth the money! Just not something I wanted to wear long term. What Parnis watches do you have?
@@Veshsamabananda haha that's awesome! Do you happen to have the parnis "daytona"? I have heard those are really great!
I gotta go Brazil & Mexico, no way I'm wearing my real one LOL
Heeeeeeeeeck no
@@thebergsource1242 I did indeed wear my real one and returned :-D
Parnis to use Rolex to invest
For the price it represents fantastic value, nit picking small faults is crazy, if you want ultimate quality,BUY A ROLEX and stop moaning I guess what do you want for this money22 carrot gold , if it stays on your wrist and keeps fair time , shut up, moan moan moan moan you can’t please some people , guess if you did dive you wouldn’t use something like this in the first place , cheers but negative 👎 review unrealistic ,, as I say it’s in the price
Carat
like your review style!
Thanks man!
I have a Parnis GMT on SS bracelet and Bliger on a really nice striped NATO strap. They are both sterile. To me, the names are entirely meaningless. They are just Chinese Rolex knock offs with Miyota movements built on they same production line. I bought them for the specs and yeah the crown action is very gritty; really does not inspire confidence. All that aside, they both look impressive. Purpose served. Oh, and I bought them both used on Ebay for a little over $100 for both delivered.
Mine feels like there's sand in it.
I've just bought a sterile Hulk homage eBay special...£55 plus postage. On the whole very very happy with it.
I've noticed a couple of peculiarities with it, namely the dial face is slightly off centre, the lume on the hands and pips dont match (hands and pip are blue, dial is green but at least it has lume),the end links have a tiny amount of play in them, the rotor is a tiny bit noisy, the crown action isnt particularly nice and the face has a tiny scratch/imperfection on it making me wonder if its perhaps mineral rather than sapphire glass but for the money it's insane how good it looks.
The case and bracelet quality is also way way above what youd expect for the money.....at first glance it literally looks like a submariner with no branding.
55 quid vs perhaps 11k for a real one.......dont feel short changed at all!
And as to my comments on peculiarities they are arguably somewhat unfair....at the end of the day it's a cheaply produced chinese watch with a relatively speaking poor quality movement in it but for the money to have an automatic hacking movement in it at all is just mind bending. The case and bracelet is that nice that in time I might get a mate of mine to stick an ETA in it...probs three times the cost of the watch to do but I think probably worth it particularly if the cheap movement doesnt keep good time.
I'm using it as a daily beater to save wear and tear on my other nicer watches, even if the cheapo movement lasts a year/18 months I'd be happy. I dont doubt for a minute either I'll soon be having the 'nice sub' comments from the less educated 🤣
