      The United States Declaration of Independence was actually inspired and influenced by the widespread publication and circulation of pamphlets of "Common Sense" by Thomas Paine! Before the widespread circulation of "Common Sense", there were no Revolutionary patriots who openly advocated American Independence from British Empire! I just don't know why Thomas Paine is not considered as one of the Founders of the United States!

    One thing: How could any slave owner have an affair with one of his slaves? In all common sense, what slave willingly has a "love affair" with someone who has sold, beaten raped and dehumanized their family members and or them? Im so sick of hearing about this so called love affair, when we all know what Jefferson said about slaves.

      I know some of you are convinced that the rumor of Thomas Jefferson having an affair with Sally Hemings is true, but what I mean by rumor is that the whole thing is gossip, lies, untrue. I for one don't believe that about Thomas Jefferson is true, I believe it is false, many people lie too about Thomas Jefferson about some things such as that, and that's a rumor because it's gossip and lies, simple, that's just what I believe, even though I didn't study everything about him. I just have common sense enough to learn and know that Thomas Jefferson would ignore all that gossip about him because he knew how bad the press was especially to him. So rumor, gossip, lies, it's all the same thing to me. I don't like people or the press teasing Thomas Jefferson and accusing him for something he didn't do. People who write stories about that of Thomas Jefferson get famous for that, right, because fame is everything when it comes to lies being legend or popular. Well to me, the whole thing is sick because I don't believe he would ever have done that to Sally Hemings.

    Christianity or Paulism has never made sense to me I was pleased to see what Thomas Jefferson
    had to say about him.
    In a letter to William Short in 1820, Jefferson described many biblical passages as "so much untruth, charlatanism and imposture". In the same letter Jefferson states he describes Paul as the "first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus".

    I understand Thomas Jefferson taking sides when it comes to one party having more votes than the other. But to hate democracy, that's something I don't agree with Thomas Jefferson about. I'm okay with someone hating the democrats such as the ones we have today, but I'm not sure I'm okay with someone hating democracy. I wouldn't agree with Thomas Jefferson on hating democracy because he's too political about party. To me, democracy isn't about being democrat or about party, it's about peaceful freedom. Anyone who's against democracy is harsh and hateful, aren't they? That's why I don't agree with Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, or even George Washington or Benjamin Franklin about hating democracy. I'm okay with taking sides like what Thomas Jefferson would want, but I don't like him going against the word democracy. There are good people who support democracy and I don't think that the ideal of the word democracy is such a bad thing. So I don't agree with Thomas Jefferson about democracy.

      The United States is a republic, not a democracy. Thomas Jefferson believed in having a constitutional Republic (which the US is), he believed in Republicanism. Democracy is bad because it's tyranny of the majority over the minority. Imagine 51% of the people deciding everything for the other 49%, that's a democracy. A Democracy is two wolves and one sheep deciding what's for dinner. You've been misled to think the US is a democracy. Our system is s democratic republic, which allows more freedom

    • @kaylamontanez4238
      @kaylamontanez4238 4 роки тому

      Planet Express, I'm glad you understand great deal of politics between democrat and republican, but anyone like you who would think I'd be democrat just because I was just saying what I thought of the word democracy in general aside from politics obviously don't understand I'm not a democrat, and of course you have misread the part where I said, " I'm okay with someone hating the democrats..." I'm glad you can take on politics with that sort of thought like a political person with common sense. But common sense is not just to do with politics or party but also real life. Look, I was only being honest of what I thought of the word democracy in general, not favoring myself like I'm a democrat, like you think! I was thinking in freedom when I mentioned the word democracy as to what I thought of it to me, and that's why I wouldn't hate the word democracy and wouldn't agree with the Founding Fathers for hating democracy. I said these things because I felt like they were too political about sides and numbers of votes, but I know this nation is not meant to be democrat which is why it is not a democracy, however democracy is freedom isn't it? Is democracy for freedom? That's why I was honest on my thought. And if you don't like my honesty, too bad, I'm only saying how I feel. I don't need too much freedom in life or our country but freedom is important to me. I won't say anymore after this comment, Planet Express, so you can leave me alone! I care about Thomas Jefferson and his views, I just don't like him being too political about party. Okay yes, I do mind when someone takes sides, because as to party I mean the ideal of being political. I don't mind Thomas Jefferson supporting republicans though Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were democratic-republicans. But that was their party as presidents and I respect them for their position. Now Planet Express, if I were democrat, I would hate all the republicans, which that's political and I wouldn't hate the republicans. In fact, I don't like the democrats today. I would be about party if I were democrat, but I'm not about party because I'm not democrat. It's the democrats that are about party today more than the republicans, more than anyone! And Planet Express, if there's something Thomas Jefferson and I don't agree on, stay out of it, let it be between him and me then! Just because I say how I feel, and what I think about democracy doesn't mean I support the democrats and I'm not offended by the republicans. It was the word I was after on honesty, not party by being democrat! I just don't agree about political factors such as your two wolves and one sheep like you do, Planet Express! Otherwise, Planet Express, leave me alone with my feelings and comments!!!

      Slavery was imposed on America before it was America. While serving on the House of Burgesses in Virginia around 1765 (prior to America) he was outspoken against slavery and attempted to enact legislation to emancipate slaves and outlaw slavery. One of his first proposals in the House during his tenure was to permit slave owners to free their slaves without seeking permission from the governor or council. Although his ideology as President can be questionable, he did not permit slavery in the newly acquired land from the Louisiana Purchase.
