Lifestyle n diet is very important to maintain health after the treatment is over.reverting to old habits n dietary aggravations will bring the symptoms back again...
Very interesting discussion! As per Ayurveda, each and every person has an individual reason for physical and mental imbalance. That's why the Ayurveda doctor does an individual's 'Nadi-parikshan' (the pulse check), in order to diagnose the illness and its symptoms so all are not treated in the same way/manner. Each one is diagnosed and treated individually and that's why it's a very unique way of treating the patient with any disease or illness at any level, physical, vital or mental.

Bhaswatiji, you are certainly a very good ambassador for Ayurveda who the youth would like to listen to. There is however a question upon how 'good' the Ayurveda practitioner would be as a mind reader, as that is more subtle to understand than understanding symptoms which are more visible and which the allopaths apply. After all, seeing is believing, and relying on the hope of a good' mind reader would be risky. Overall, I get your point, but how would this point be addressed which could help the 'case' of Ayurveda.
Intuition is much more common that people admit. Many good practitioners in all medical systems have connected with their intuitive powers. Understanding symptoms requires a different kind of observation. And for some, seeing is believing. But the real truth is that Believing is Seeing, as our beliefs only allow us to see things and frame them in ways we understand. If a person is not yet on a level to connect with a "good" mind reader, s/he should just stick with things in the material world, such as chemical-based treatments and surgeries.
@@bhaswatimd Thank you, Bhaswatiji, for your very, very insightful reply. I have gone through the other comments and your reply to each of them. Essentially, what you have conveyed is just as a spiritual seeker must have 'qualifications' so must a 'seeker' in Ayurveda. I feel a lot more needs to be spoken on this 'unheard' aspect for the ordinary 'patient'. To be more precise what you have conveyed is 'come as a seeker, not as a patient'. The question is how to be a seeker. We don't know anything about that in today's world, especially the young who are looking for quick solutions. I feel that this 'seeking' aspect is largely unheard of and it could get the 'disinterested' to be interested, as a lot of youth are seeking insight which they are trying to find in other ways viz. music, travelling, art etc. But, Ayurveda is surely not falling in the list - for them. This is where the 'appeal and branding' part comes in which the AYUSH Ministry has miserably failed. I would earnestly request you to start pitching Ayurveda to the youth and think of ways how you could visibly do that. You need to be on their 'click list' on social media. Once you have achieved that, the 'academia' will take note of and want to induct Ayurveda as a course, especially in the liberal arts colleges. These are some of my thoughts based on hearing you and Rajivji. Thank you once again 🙏
Sorry that you have not encountered any, Mike. There are plenty of good ayurvedacharyas, and I work with several of them. When the student is ready, the guru appears........
You can read Everyday Ayurveda stories to them. The first section of each chapter of the book is a story of how to learn and incorporate Ayurveda into the modern life.
Incompetent yees!! In 93' i was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis & told to take Prednisone for life 😳😳😳 veery very foolish I healed myself in 3 yrs what a struggle & journey & lesson now I know what real healing is ASÈ
Just the physical body can be maintained by care and observations. Our thoughts can also be kept in balance. When both body and mind are in balance we function at optimum. How do we introduce this into our school curriculum as all this has to be nurtured from very young.
We can start with teaching children in small groups, or volunteering in classrooms as a guest speaker. Until the school district values the suggestion and has a good syllabus and trained teachers, they cannot incorporate it. Sadly, school boards are filled with the wrong kinds of people in many districts. But there is hope, as there are very interesting changes happening to teach body-mind awareness, meditation, yoga, and greater arts to the children in many districts with groups of motivated parents.
Ayurveda has gone with the Charaka but failed to follow Shusruta and lost the lustre of the system on account of it! Time has come to introduce procedural science to Ayurveda to make it complete! Much of the Western medicine's glamor is on account of the advancements in procedural medicine!
Thank you for your comment, Uma. Perhaps your teachers have followed Caraka and not used the Susruta Samhita as extensively. However, many excellent vaidyas use both and also the books of Vagbhata and many other Samhitas. I hope you will discover that the best aspects of procedural medicine are made not in classrooms and in published books where the nefarious user can misuse them, but in training with actual teachers who can assess and decide what the student can competently handle. If the teacher puts a knife or a pestle in the hand of a psychopathic student or a zealous idiot, the karma of harming patients comes back to the teacher. You must trust that the wisemen experienced the rotten fruits of sharing procedures openly and without discernment and saw the consequences. This is a longer discussion, and sadly it seems noone has discussed it with you until you.
As a skeptic, I do realise that one can’t make a placebo for pancha karma, so research into basic biology with regards to these procedures should be done as suggested by MS Valiathan
As a skeptic, please do read about other types of clinical research, especially those focused on patient outcomes and not mechanisms of action. Here is a start - www.fda.gov/patients/clinical-trials-what-patients-need-know/what-are-different-types-clinical-research
Bhaswati Bhattacharya I never said about mechanisms, what I said was instead of trying to do clinical trial with a placebo control group (which would be impractical), one must look at the changes in certain parameters of patients as they go trough these procedures and then extrapolate how they help with different diseases. Humans have been doing medicine from times immemorial without having any knowledge of mechanisms.
Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya as a practioner in allopathy and ayurveda, could you give a sense of what percentage of your intervention is with allopathy and what percentage with ayurveda in your practice? Also under which circumstances is allopathy your first option and when is it ayurveda?
Thank you for your question, Ashok. Most of my patients do not come to me for intervention with allopathy. They get that from their zealous pharma-smart allopathic specialists, who make money from prescribing. Today, I prescribe pharmaceuticals only when needed for severe conditions in which a drug, despite its damage, is needed to curb the patient's lack of control over their body. I also prescribe drugs when the patient is not open to profound healing, and when they are angry and demanding. About 95% of my patients come to me for help using diet, lifestyle, herbal formulations and treatments that emphasize rebalancing the body. Since I specialize in case failures, I get sick patients who really want to heal. And, I am clear that not everyone deserves Ayurveda - there is no point to waste the resources of these beautiful therapies when someone does not take them seriously. Then I gladly prescribe them drugs and send them on their way.
This. So much, this! _And, I am clear that not everyone deserves Ayurveda - there is no point to waste the resources of these beautiful therapies when someone does not take them seriously._ @Bhaswati Bhattacharya jī, you've made a profound point! Just as one has to be _worthy_ to actually _receive_ the knowledge from our scriptures, one has to be worthy to receive the benefits of Ayurveda. @@इन्द्रजाल And just like they don’t trust and hence don’t deserve Ayurveda, I don’t trust allopathic doctors 100% at any point of time. Their personal life habits (when you know them) are a big turn off too.
Ayurveda allows a hectic lifestyle only to those who can handle vata well. Else, the hectic day will imbalance them and begin to create disease in the body.

Please correct me if I’m wrong. Ayurveda is not about balance. Prakriti of individuals differ with dominance of one or another ( vada dominant, pita or kapa dominant). Homeostasis is NOT the aim, rather restoring the Prakriti to its own state.
Restoring the Prakriti is not a static destination. The VPK changes throughout each day, as do the seasons. The input of stimuli during our cascades of life also challenge us and alter the VPK. The goal is to become resilient to these changes, to have robust fire so that we can digest any food, information, or poison that comes into our mind, body or senses, and to build up great boundaries so that unwanted influences cannot penetrate.

The goal is to become resilient to these changes, to have robust fire so that we can digest any food, information, or poison that comes into our mind, body or senses, and to build up great boundaries so that unwanted influences cannot penetrate.
Bhaswati Bhattacharya thank you! Western medicine aims for Homeostasis. In a dynamic body and mind, this is not going to happen!
From 16:40: Indian private hospitals!
Yes, ST, some private hospitals are excellent. Many are constrained by the laws that require them to participate in corruption just to survive.
@@bhaswatimd Only few private hospitals are excellent. Most practice corruption for many reasons such as to survive, greed etc. It also depends on the particular doctor.
👍👍
Thank you, Vipin.
Ayurveda begins at home. Turmeric is always handy. Every traditional indian home uses it.

A person (among many) featured in the film, 'Brahmanand swamingal' , practising ayurveda for 50 years had treated 8k plus cancer patients.
Do you happen to know about him/his work (and the documentary)?
Thank you!
