Something I find very touching about this whole scene is that Geralt hates poetry, but then he comes to this Inn to find Priscilla and she sings him a song about his feelings towards Yennefer. Feelings that are very tender and dear to him, despite his harsh exterior. In just a few verses, Priscilla manages to make a statement to Geralt; this song is like her saying: "I know who you really are, you don't fool me. It's okay, I accept you exactly as you are". And just like that, these people who have never met, who couldn't possibly be more different, become friends before they've even exchanged a word.
Such a beautiful moment in the game, and one of those rare moments when Geralt can get some peace and quiet... And then that chick from White Orchard ruins the moment. Thanks, lady.
All part of the game's narrative charm. Geralt is all happy and then the universe says "fuck you, you don't get anything nice". Which, once you hit *any* of the endings, becomes all the more relevant and supports the emotional investment you have in any of them. Which is probably as good as you can possibly ask for in a game.

This game left me the same sensation as when I finish a good book. A pinch of sadness plus the feel that I will miss the characters. Anyway, time to read the books.
+Federico Alberti I agree 100%. The mark of a real great game is if you really care for the characters. When the game ends it feels like you're losing your closest friends. This game will go down as one of the very greatest.
+pateuvasiliu Im done with "The last Wish", it was so short but so good. In which language did you read them? I been told that the translation of the "Sword of destiny" it's bad. I really dont know what to do, either read it now or wait for the official translation.
+Federico Alberti English, all of them. I had little issue with the translations. SoD, Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake were fan translations but it didn't affect my enjoyment. You'll be waiting for years for official translations. Go on google and search for the translations, see if they're OK for you.

CDPR did all the small things, and not just "well done", the extreme attention to detail, in every area, stands out, to say they didn't cut any corners =>anywhere
theoldhip hard agree. The story is amazing beyond simply telling it. The tone... I remember a mission where you investigate a cursed island. Fyke island. The story itself was a very standard commoner lives a noble and they die to be in the afterlife... but that mission nailed tone. During that mission, approaching the tower you encounter a swarm of insects that do actually harm Geralt if he approaches them. The you make your way through the mage’s tower towards the top as fireplaces and torches light the way on their own. If you look closely, the fire is encased in a green aura. It makes the room darker and like the fire isn’t able to illuminate the darkness, which hides the horrendous tragedy that occurred within. I even pulled out my torch and it felt stifled, the light barely able to reach out enough for me to behold the rooms. However, once the two lovers are reunited and they can lay to rest with the island no longer cursed... the rooms light up, the fire no longer contained by the magic. The swarms left with the Pesta, and even the skies above cleared and the rain stopped. The music became soft and tinged with hope. I’d been playing the game for several hours by this point but that mission was where I realize this game had truly mastered not only audible story telling but visual story telling. And I’m enraptured.
Never realized until my second play through that elements of this song are woven into the Skellige ambiance music (where Geralt reunites with Yen and potentially discovers/seals his love for her). CD Projekt Red are masters of detail, nuances and subtleties that reward you with each subsequent play through. Witcher 3 is truly a work of art.
This proves that the Witcher 3 has something so many games these days seem to lack. Not attention to detail, not amazing graphics, not even a masterful story (that I have yet to finish... curse my foolishness). This game has a soul.
We trapped inside this game, even it's very empty for me after finished the game, it's like I didn't want this story to end. I want to live in that world lol

Never really liked her after reading The Last Wish, but the song did force me to give her a chance. I still get the feeling that their relationship doesn't work but they've been at it so long that they aren't sure of the alternative.
***** Oh I've read more books, I'm just talking my first impression of her. It sort of stuck. She's a wonderful character and complex. But she's also unlikable in certain ways and that's really true to life.
Also, I highly recommend riding Roach around the wilderness at least once with the game muted and this playing. It's legit. Especially if it's raining. 11/10

@@arawn1061 Have not read the books yet I suspect Yen is who Geralt truly loves, but the game(s) heavily suggests that, in their cannon, CD Projekt wanted either choice to be equally possible - just listen to this song, its a love song for Yen but also questions wether its real or simply a flirt prolonged by a Djinn's magic.
TheSk4dir Wrong lol. The song is about the love between Geralt and Yennefer. Priscilla wouldn't have known about any of it unless Dandelion had told her. Pretty sure it's a poem written by Dandelion, that Priscilla simply transcribed into song form.
+Malvatoss Right? It's such a powerfully lamenting tone. really conveys the sadness of the world they live in. brought a tear to my eye even listening now
"The wish I whispered when it all began Did it forge a love you might never have found?" This line gave me chills when i first heard it, as someone who has read "The Last Wish" novel
Out of the whole song, those 2 lines always cut deepest for me because it makes me think of how I met the love of my life, I often think of that very same question “Did it forge a love you might never have found?”
This scene is like a refuge from a storm. This - and a few others, like the one with Yen after dealing with the Djinn - feel like nice little moments of peace that are just long enough to let you catch your breath but not long enough that you get bored
One of my favourite moments out of these is the snowball fight (if you choice that). I loved it and it really shows the depth of Geralt's love for Ciri. He really wants to see her happy. That whole scene made me feel really warm.
Same! I went in there thinking that it was gonna be the same as Skyrim’s shitty bards, but to my surprise it wasn’t and in that moment I truly fell in love with the game. I was pissed when I found out Priscilla was attacked lol. I’ll be starting my second play-through soon and am stoked.
i played this master piece game just in the right moment in my life, had a broken hearth with an ending of a 5 yrs relationship and this game made me cry so much and fixed me. so yeah I'm forever in debt with CDPRJKTRED
You're clearly too young to see what a broken heart can do to you, Giovanni. Don't worry, one day you'll experience it and feel like a complete ass for calling others a ''faggot''.
* Geralt subjected to an evening of poetry * Geralt: Oh come on.... Zoltan: This is true poetry. - Geralt after he watches the song - Geralt (in his mind): GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL
Recently only started playing Witcher 3 for the first time, got to this part yesterday and I literally sat there quiet throughout the whole thing in amazement.....
That feeling when it's freezing outside, you're wrapped in a cozy blanket, and 'The Wolven Storm' starts playing as you dive into The Witcher 3... pure winter magic.
I wouldn't have expected such a random scene with a minor character singing about Yen and Geralt would be so tear-jerking. It's both powerful and sad at the same time.

This made me feel like a thief for paying so little for such game. I heard the game had s huge community, what I didnt know was that it will give post depression. Fucking masterpiece. I got no idea how they pulled this fucking game out.
got other things in their mind ! things like me? they payed me for you. hmmm times passed. no amount of coin would convince a witcher to take this CONTRACT! times have change.
I remember when I first played the game and this scene came up I thought 'this is going to be something stupid and awful isn't it?', only to be moved close to manly tears and total silence.
her reaction is described in "Elven blood" when she rescued Dandelion, she was much more worried about his songs about Ciri than about this one. As she said : you can sing about me and Geralt, that will not help or harm anyone
@@marekiwaniak6552 Well, Dandelion was about to get his junk ripped out by a crazy wizard....while covered in shit ,so yeah... but that was a different song, I think. He has made quite a few songs about yen and geralt.
This was the first game to make me feel empty after finishing. I had been, and still sort of am, a multiplayer person. Games like Halo and CoD. But playing this as one of my first *real* singleplayer games, I had been spoiled. For the first time ever, I was being introduced to a breathtaking world and lovable characters. I'm going to miss the characters and the world. I can play the game over and over again but it will never be the same as first experiencing moments like this song. A phenomenal game that will never be forgotten.
There's nothing like your first time, making a choice, and hours later seeing the consequences and you dont feel like its worth to go back to fix it so you just role with it, the best part is how there's very few black and white options, the game is really greish, there's no perfect choice, something will haunt you later

This was one of the few moments that I forgot that I was actually playing a game. It hit me right in the heart. They did well with this song. I actually thought for a moment I was there listening to her.
First time player. Already logged in 30 hours. The quests provoke emotions, rage, laughter, sadness. This song was the final stamp. It was so good i had to load the last save. Im not that emotional myself bnut this song gave me the chills. My eyes started watering. Given how the quest has gone so far, it was by far the most impavtful feel i have felt from a game in a while!
Same here! Recently began my adventure and wow, what a tale! I’m so excited to see where it goes! When i heard this song i enjoyed it so much and now im here :) ploughin’ brilliant!
First time player too. The song gave me goosebumps. I'm not a Yen fan from what I've seen and heard of her, but that doesn't make the song any less impactful.
"Your scent - berries tart, lilac sweet To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy Of violet eyes, glistening as you weep" And people still pick Triss... lmao
Geralt and Yen are a typical real relationship. They have their problems, they fight and have disagreements, but they understand each other, and are bonded. Such a beautiful song. I can't wait to see how the show portrays the blossoming of their relationship.
Personally I love both romances......but to hear that yen threw the bed off of the balcony and teleports geralt into a lake is pretty funny , I suppose the triss romance is sweeter but yens is cannon (I do feel bad when I chose triss however)
No one ever realises that Geralt is happier with Triss. When you pick her and talk to Ciri in the circus area, he says that with Yen it's constant fighting, but with Triss he's a lot happier. However, the game makes it easy to get with Yen and much more difficult for Triss. I'd explain why, but this is already too long.
This song and quest comes at a perfect time in the games story. It serves as a really mellow tonal shift that sees you go from the spooky and horrific vellen to the mysterious and subterfuge riddled novigrad quests.
oop! I just got spoiled. Oh well I'll stop looking at comments until after I've gotten further into the game. But yeah this scene is amazing and made the game so much more beautiful
This and putting on the play to find Dudu were just the perfect ways to get away from the darkness and despair going on in Geralt's world. A moment of calm during the (wolven) storm to remind Geralt of what he's fighting for.
damn! I wasnt ready for the moment of this song!! I just played there and just enjoyed one of the greatest moment of my life.....I am alone in my room in the middle of night! listening this song! life is beautiful.....
You know I used to think that Triss was the better option in game, and I did two playthroughs with her as the romance and thought she was the one for Geralt. But today I just finished reading the Witcher books, and I realise now that Yennefer is the one and only for Geralt.
The John Hopkins Company I read the books recently also, then played the game after as I didn’t want the books to be ruined by references. The books made me cry and I had to choose Yen no matter what because of them.
@@SEFullmetalJake I've been playing the game again recently with a Yennefer romance and I am so amazed with how CD Projekt Red was able to capture the chaotic chemistry and dynamic the two had in the books.
The John Hopkins Company I agree, they did a great Job. What really got me was the optional side quest ‘ The last Wish’. It was one of my favourite quests in game, solely due to the ties with Geralt and Yennefer.
I did the opposite, first reading the books. My choice was hard, and difficult, and painful... But I picked Triss. Despite the fact that in the books she's a far more ambiguous character, in the games I could not ignore how supportive and human she feels. Yen is always cold, distant, and sharp-tongued. As she is in the books. She's charming and strong willed, determined and cunning. But she's far too similar to Geralt in so many ways. She doesn't feel like a moment's respite during the Witcher's crazy adventures. She feels like she is part of his toils and troubles. She isn't a comforting figure that gives him the rest he needs so badly. She is uncertain, ever-changing, just like their relationship. It's not even sure if he truly loves her or if it's just the Jinn's influence that binds them together.
This game in its entirety is an emotional Rollercoaster. holy fuck. I cried during the bloody barren questline... and the Plague Maiden hunt. then the dandelion quest with this song was like a mid game tragedy especially because I never pick Yennefer.
A little dedication, he thought, it would only take a little… It would calm her down: an embrace, a kiss, a hug… She wants nothing more… And even if it is not enough, what's the difference? A little dedication and attention: she is beautiful and worthy of that much… If she wants more… It will calm her down. Making love gently, peacefully, in silence. But me… It's all the same to me, because Essi smells of verbena, not of lilac and gooseberry; she doesn't have cold and electrifying skin; Essi's hair is not a black tornado of shiny curls; Essi's eyes are beautiful, sweet, hot and blue, but they are no deep purple, cold and dispassionate. Essi will fall asleep afterward, will turn her face and part her lips; Essi will not smile in triumph. Because Essi…Essi is not Yennefer. That's why I can't grant her even a little dedication ~ Geralt of Rivia, The Sword of Destiny Page 420
He's saying it would only take a little bit of sacrifice or dedication would make her happy, and he could be happy with her maybe, but he wouldnt really be. He can't love her, because she's Not Yennefer. Geralt is deeply in love with Yennefer, and anyone else simply doesn't compare to her in the slightest to him.
"If they ever tell my story, let them say I played with giants. Companies rise and fall like winter wheat ... Let them say I lived in the time of CD Project Red ... Let them say I played in the time of The Witcher" - Anonymous, early 21st Century
That feeling when fictional character sings song that is far more beautiful and deeper than anything recorded these days. Please, never give up on Witcher sequels, been a fan since 1st game and will be a long, long time.
First moment in a video game when i literally just sat there and listened and enjoyed the moment for once. Never happened before / again after that. I regret that.
I would probably say that Transistor had the best soundtrack ever released for a game, but Witcher 3 comes in at a *very* close second. Probably more of a tie.
The Transistor soundtrack was also great, (as was Bastion, Darren Korb is crazy talented!) but I found it a bit too repetitious. Between the main game, and the expansions, there's like, 100 tracks for The Witcher 3. I'd also throw the score for The Last of Us into the top 5, albeit repetitive as well. You should check out the stuff Chris Christodoulou does. He did the soundtracks for Risk of Rain and Deadbolt, as well as others..incredible stuff. No two tracks sound alike.
The first time I played witcher i knew this was special. Really did not know how, but in the entire game it was the first time i start the screen recording. I knew deep inside that was going to be an epic moment. I was so right. That was epic. Great moment. Great song.
I personally prefer Triss, but I know Geralt would obviously pick Yen, and turning Yen down was one of the most heartbreaking and regretful things I've done in a video game, even more than when I turned down Leliana/Morrigan in DA: O. I'm doing three playthroughs; I'm in the middle of the first one, as a newcomer/newbie to the Witcher franchisem and picked Triss (Last Wish quest almost made me regret that tho). Second will be after I read the books, and I'll pick Yen. And third will be after I've played the previous two games, and then I can make the ultimate third, fully knowledgeable playthrough.
A rare pearl in the midst of this ocean of music. The sweet and calm voice, the intensity of the lyrics and the sweet melody come straight to the heart… absolutly a masterpiece 🔝
Eight years later and this song and its cut scene remains as one of my favorite storytelling moments in gaming, the emotion of the song and how the lyrics effect Geralt in a way not yet seen till that point in the game is just perfect.
This moment in the game put me in a trance. Fun fact, an hour or two before getting to this I actually found the book with these lyrics written down in it. If that didn't surprise me enough already, my mouth surely fell open when I HEARD the song later on. So beautiful! A very memorable moment in the game for sure.
If you skip this scene in the very first playthrough, no amount of replaying/watching on UA-cam will bring back that magical moment where we just sit spellbound and speechless. CDProjektRed, thank you for this amazing amazing game that helped me in my very tough times. Will forever cherish this masterpiece. "Time is fleeting but memories are forever. Love"
I'll be honest. Having read the books as a teenager, my whole heart was pro-Triss, bearing resentment against Yen. That song changed everything, I read the story once again and the love story between the White Wolf and Yennefer is one of the most compelling I've ever come across, mesmerising
I was first introduced to the Witcher playing this game, and it was always my favorite song and it just incapsulated me so much. When you play a video game its common to just look over things like this but after reading 5 of the books, it just speaks different volumes about the messages in this song. I always thought it was a beautiful song and even now I understand its deeper meanings and references.
Its amazing how a powerfull impression the characters leave at you as you play the game, I havent experienced that sensation in ages. Witcher 3 is a masterpiece of a game with such rich character design that it will be hard to top...
Why am I torturing myself with going back to these memories? Truly heartbreaking. Purely beautiful game, pure art... CP2077 will be a great game too, but it will not deliver the same feels.

Well said. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. I’ve never played a game like The Witcher 3 before. It’s truly something special.
Yes, this games is "alive", like, you feel you're part of a really complex and deep world.
Lightfire398 Well said. That is why its one of the best games ever
We trapped inside this game, even it's very empty for me after finished the game, it's like I didn't want this story to end. I want to live in that world lol
It has a soul, and it destroyed mine when I finished it :'( Not for the ending, but for the events leading to the ending

Your scent - berries tart, lilac sweet
To dream of raven locks entwisted, stormy
Of violet eyes, glistening as you weep

To find your heart, its passion displaced
By ire ever growing, hardening into stone
Amidst the cold to hold you in a heated embrace

This song made me choose Yen. Couldn't be happier. Such a fantastic game. Literal masterpiece.
I was starstruck by Yen the moment I saw her. This song was just an extra nail in a coffin full of nails.
I was starstruck as well. Had no idea of the background of the character, but I was convinced right in the intro.
#teamtriss

Dandelion had a fat neck when he wrote this lol
Damn...now I understand why Dandelion is so famous in the Witcher verse if he pumps out songs like this...
fbiuzz Lol right 😁
Nah, Priscilla and Geralt wrote the Play "together" to lure out Dudu. Priscilla sings this song before right before they talk for the first time.
pretty sure Priscilla wrote it (this song) with input from Dandelion.
TheSk4dir Wrong lol. The song is about the love between Geralt and Yennefer. Priscilla wouldn't have known about any of it unless Dandelion had told her. Pretty sure it's a poem written by Dandelion, that Priscilla simply transcribed into song form.
Jacob Abbott pretty sure that dandelion told her the story, and she turned it into a song...

There's nothing like your first time, making a choice, and hours later seeing the consequences and you dont feel like its worth to go back to fix it so you just role with it, the best part is how there's very few black and white options, the game is really greish, there's no perfect choice, something will haunt you later

RDR2: hold my beer
got goosebumps listening to this song...
Even after all these years, this song still gives me goosebumps. I wish I could experience this game and this scene for the first time again.
How are you progressing?
Beware, The Witcher 1 is fucking awful, but I love it
John Thomas be aware that triss tries to sell ciri to the lodge
A rare pearl in the midst of this ocean of music.
The sweet and calm voice, the intensity of the lyrics and the sweet melody come straight to the heart… absolutly a masterpiece 🔝
Eight years later and this song and its cut scene remains as one of my favorite storytelling moments in gaming, the emotion of the song and how the lyrics effect Geralt in a way not yet seen till that point in the game is just perfect.
Me too ❤
Been searching for this half an hour. Thank you mate! Ingni!
This moment in the game put me in a trance. Fun fact, an hour or two before getting to this I actually found the book with these lyrics written down in it. If that didn't surprise me enough already, my mouth surely fell open when I HEARD the song later on. So beautiful! A very memorable moment in the game for sure.
I was as mesmerized as Geralt and Zoltan when I first heard this song in the game. Priscilla sings like a nightingale ❤️
thank you, whoever stitched and edited this song :D
"This is exactly why I don't pour my heart out to Ballards...as you just demonstrated." - Geralt of Rivia
Beautiful song
THANK YOU! i been trying to find a clean version.
Why am I torturing myself with going back to these memories? Truly heartbreaking. Purely beautiful game, pure art... CP2077 will be a great game too, but it will not deliver the same feels.
I have no doubt I will enjoy CP2077 a lot but hey, Witcher 4 ;)
@@catwearingshades rip
Well, CP2077 stands nowhere close to being remotely as amazing as TW3...
TW3 still stands as the king...
Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt remains the best RPG I have ever played. The attention to detail is insane and this moment is just one out of many.
i started playing the game recently bc of cyberpunk lmao and got to this part yesterday dear god this is so damn good i seriously can't stop listening to this and i used to wonder why people praise witcher 3 this much this game is goated it deserves all the praise in the world

@@JohnJohn-qq1cw Thanks, man. Wish you the best.
It truly does cut deep.
I’m currently in a long distance relationship now, but for now, as I listen to this song and wish I was there with her, I’m working towards the day when I’m by her side again.
