Russell, you're one of the best bass players in the past 80+ years.

The pianist is all over it, smoothly switching from one style to another with an incredible mastery of each idiom. So much feeling there, too. And the drummer knew exactly how to navigate the dynamic flow of events. How incredible to be able to preserve such a grand performance on video!

Me too Jim, some of my times preserved recently on DVDs. If you have 45 year old or older reels or cassettes, you'd be amazed what a good computer tech can recover & put on CDs, or even DVDs for you. To hear the young voices & playing then, now we're in our 60s, 70's, etc. Hope you have some reels or cassettes that you've protected. The oldest cassette I've had placed on a DVD was from 1969 of family members on Christmas Day.

may i ask: how old are you? i have been revisiting my old musical heroes during the recent years - since the 60s i have been going with the times and i still listen to mostly contemporaty music, even today, so, oldies means for me from 90s backwards - well, i mainly started this revisiting trip, because i wanted to show my son (17 now) at least some of the most important old artists - i must say, i was shocked to see how stubborn, conservative, ignorant and, yes, grumpy my peers and older are! embarrassing and sad... :-) i especially love the passage at 4:54 where he goes into that ragtime groove, because in my youth in the 70s i played a lot of ragtime myself, haha - so your comment cheered me up, just as much as that fresh, cheerful feeling from the music - thank you so much, you made my day... :-) all the best to you from germany
