Oak looked beautiful, curved resin edge didn’t look right, imo.
Fantastic👍
Hey Andy. Idk if you can get dewalt in the UK. I have like a direct drive 5 inch sander they sell. Thing works great for making an edge. It’s pretty fast too. I use on some of fractal stuff and where the resin comes down the side. Don’t know if that would help ya. Great table too. Plus I love the legs. Your son is a great fabricator. 😀.
In case it matters, I really prefer your voiceover for details vs putting them in the on-screen text. The text seemed rushed.
But I love the table. That Oak really looked nice when you were coming back to it 6 weeks later.
Amazing craftsmanship as always. 👍👍
I’m now retired and so, after 45 years woodworking, the pace should have slowed down. However, we are getting towards the end of a conversion of a barn. The total cost is about £1m and the cost of £20K on European oak seems small in comparison but it’s all for 2nd fix and every inch needs full preparation by one of our sons and me. With my experience, I think I have an appreciation of the amount of hours that go into making what is a “simple” (lack of complex joinery) table.
For those not buying regularly, the cost of it, like many other items, has shot up tremendously - far above the current inflation rate. The war in Ukraine is being blamed and it’s impossible for users to understand if that is a factor or whether someone in the supply chain is just taking advantage. It’s a wide market and difficult to see how one or two producers could control the prices of every producer. Using these slabs is a very efficient, very “green” way of utilising timber. When I look at the slab in its original state, we would have cut into into long lengths (say 200 wide and then 100 wide) with all the edges and central checks being put in the firewood pile. You might get 40% yield from many slabs. These tables use 90% plus and that can only be good.
Whether or not I like every aspect of something I was building was secondary to what the customer wanted. Yes, you try and guide in order to avoid disasters but the man who pays the bill, calls the shots. If a client wants a table with many of the aesthetics of a waney edge slab but wants smoother edge, then you produce what they want. I can appreciate that it would be more child friendly.
It is incredibly difficult to make a positive bottom line these days from bespoke furniture. Just look at the number of very good makers who really make most of their money from teaching the craft.
When I look at the investment made in Manor Wood; all that machinery plus 2 wages, I can guess how much the business has to make just to pay its way. So, every marketing opportunity has to be seized and exploited. That’s where Amazon shops allow viewers to support the channel when buying items they would have otherwise just bought elsewhere.
I have nothing to say really, but I appreciate your content, and wish to help with the yt-algorithms.
Beautiful tables, but any idea how well the resin hold up over time? What is the oldest table you have built? Does the colour hold or does it bleach out eventually? Steve
Really nice love that oak
Another epic table. It’s unbelievable that you don’t have more subscribers given the amount to be learned by following your content. The best source of information on UA-cam by far for these types of builds! Love your work
Wow, thank you!
Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. It is also really interesting to see all that machinery needed to make these completely in-house.
👍
Great video
14:16 2st 😂😂😂
Beautiful
Great
Another great looking table.
please show more of the drumsander
have a look at some other videos . I use it all the time :)
Looks fantastic. I love seeing actual production UA-cam channels make real products for customers. So many quality channels have gone downhill since moving away from customer projects and towards churning out content.
Damn that’s a great looking table and base!! Very nice job!!
What does a table of this size typically cost your customers? Thx
Ceramic is the finishing touch that make things pop. Plus the protection it provides is second to none. Absolutely stunning table.
Beautiful table!
Do you have plans or a video showing your water cooled table in more depth
First 😂😂😂
With all the products you hawk , a belt maker would be wise to send you a free ass crack restrictor (AKA a belt) ,people could see the before and after shots and be duly impressed.
It always makes my day a little better when I see you posted a new video. You make really beautiful things :)
Class as usual and a fantastic channel you have as well.
