My Manxman has a very tight Contra - piston - better than too loose. Piston will not keep compression pressure, although CP does knock back ok. Thank you for your informative Videos - most helpful. Chris.
Why didn't you mount original cp on a screw , it was threaded, then polish with some wet and dry paper to get a proper fit ? A lot quicker than making a new one. Just had to make a new crankcase for mine as original split along the shaft housing while in storage ! Nice looking engines but CS made them from rubbish !
Thank you for your suggestion. I thought about that but I wanted to have fun using my lathe and also to try out the David Owen method. You are right, I had a few more minor issues with mine but luckily there were all easy fix.

I used the same method to fix an MVVS D7. Worked amazingly well.
