    No hill anti-cav strategy:
They're going to go for your infantry 99% of the time.
Ball your infantry up tight as possible, spam that "infantry, stand closer" command. The cavalry riders will squeeze in and get in each other's way. When they hit your infantry that train will come to a full stop.
Tell your infantry to charge and they will move out around the sides of the cavalry, trapping them and pulling them down.
    Archers, open fire!

@@CaesarsLegion1 Really depends on how heavy the cavalry is. I've found swadian knights are pretty hard to stop, but even a slight hill can do the trick with a tight infantry formation. But a decently large mass of men will also do the trick. Knights can charge through one rank of infantry like it's not even there and barely slows down at the second rank. But a third rank stops them cold, in the middle of all those men, getting poked and slashed from all sides.

    1. To prevent enemies from taking your fiefs the only thing that matters is the amount of troops in your garrison. Quality of troop doesn't matter. Simply put 200-300 recruits in your garrison and the enemy AI will most likely never attempt to siege it.
    2. Easy way to win most offensive sieges in the game is get full army of Vaegir marksman , or Rhodok sharpshooter, and tell them to Hold position in front of the castle. Just let them shoot with their arrows. When they run out, hit Tab to retreat, which costs you no penalty. You can repeat this until their entire garrison is depleted and easily win the battle. Also a good idea to set your medic to run somewhere safe during this to minimize causalities. When their archers are dead, you can stand on the ladder and just get constant easy headshots, the AI will never leave their castle and just stand there. On higher difficulty settings (Normal damage) its almost worthless to even bother with infantry during sieges because enemy arrows do so much damage. The ranged method is just way better and safer.
my top 2 tips i dont think were mentioned in this vid, thanks!

I used my swadian character to build myself up until I essentially was harlouse best man and could roughly hold 250-300 men in my party, I held about four cities and too many castle's to count as well as villages. I wanted my own knightly kingdom so once I essentially was the best vassal around I left the faction and took my fiefs. We had all the fiefs the green grass touched and I named it the German empire. I kept working at it and only accepted swadian and rhodok lords into my kingdom then made piece. There's no more swadia but rather the German empire and we hold the main lands, the nords are nagging at us but due to the fact we hold completely knights we dominated them mad hard. We didn't take everything they had as what I had in mind was world piece and to build up an army in the mean time so if they tried to attack we can crush them. I'm on day 2000 or so and it's been hard to maintain but it's working.

    • @Nurk0m0rath
      @Nurk0m0rath 4 роки тому +4

Every AI king does that. They'll keep 5-6 scattered fiefs at random and then suddenly give 4-5 in a row to their martials or other favorite vassals (so if you want territories, do a ton of quests for the king). And when they do give territories to you as a vassal, your land will be scattered so far apart that you don't have a prayer of ever defending it all. That's one thing I seriously hope will be fixed in the final build of Bannerlord. It's probably the single biggest reason why many players would rather BE the king than serve the king. Warband really needed a better tactical user interface and NPC AI. But it's encouraging to see that the latest builds of Bannerlord have tried to fix the old AI problems, so maybe they'll be able to address this at last.

except finding hills is boring, the only way to destroy a swadian charge is with tenfold more swadian knights in your army. as a matter of fact, there is no other unit you should have in the field other than the swadian knight. literally any other unit ever in warband outside of a siege is less efficient then a swadian knight, as most of the landscape of calradia is flatland, and is easy to lure enemies to flatlands anyway, much easier then luring them into mountain landscapes... there are only two units that matter in warband, and thats unfortunately sad: the swadian knight and the rhodok sharpshooter. you DO. NOT. NEED any other unit ever, only these two and their inbetweeners.

Tell your sergeants to stand closer, wait for them to easily absorb the silly Swadian charge, while the Sharpshooters rain murder down from a higher position, and your Sergeants cut swadian knights like butter.

On hard difficulty things get so weirld I just don't see how is it possible to win any battle with no top tier units. Of which you will have few off because footsoldiers will keep dying. Also I've tried horsefucker Lancers. They do very well against anything without horses and they cost 2/3 the butter Bois. Provided you have 150 of them of course. I don't see anything beating sharpies though. And I don't see any point ever fighting in hills either. Mount e Blade is not a highly strategical game at all. Let's hope bannerlors fixes this. They need to lower the gap between low tier and high tier units by alot before they get regularly used by the player like the AI does.

Early game is finding your companions, doing arena fights for xp, cash, and weapon proficiencies, farming sea raiders for gear and sellable loot, trading, establishing first enterprises.
Mid game is tournaments, establishing relationships through quests with lords, kings, towns, villages, and ladies, building more enterprises, tournaments, working as a merc, tournaments, establishing your base. At this point, I'm done farming bandits and selling loot. This stage is about renown, honor, right to rule, etc.

Good guide, though I hope you don't mind if I add in a few points:
You mentioned two ways to start your own faction but there is a third option available to female characters: marry into a faction and convince your husband to join you in rebellion. This is similar to a normal rebellion, except that you instead of waiting for the king to refuse you a fief you're trying to convince a lord to turn traitor which is a different set of difficulties. The upside is that in addition to taking your current holdings with you like a normal rebellion, you're also taking a lord with you to help you out. The wiki also mentions a fourth one but I've never tried it so I don't know if it works as advertised: start a claimant's quest, but convince the claimant to abandon the rebellion before completing it. This allegedly starts you as a new faction with everything you conquered in the claimant's name.
Also, on starting locations I think it's worth mentioning that Tulga can be a very frustrating place to start for a new player, especially if you plan to run the Merchant's quest right away. Steppe bandits roam that area and will start harassing you pretty quickly if you stick around, and they're fast enough to catch a starting player and their handful of recruits quite easily. So unless one is comfortable soloing mounted archers with starting gear + stats (in which case one is probably beyond needing a guide like this) it's best to avoid starting there.

2:07:06 There are more than 2 ways, i will list them all here including the ones you mentioned
    1. Be a vassal, ask for fiefs until liege denies, then rebel
    2. Be independent, conquer a fief
    3. Start a claimant quest, abandon the rebellion by telling the claimant it's hopeless and take over the faction for yourself (Beware this comes at a high honor cost). This is best done near the end once you have the original faction down to a single castle as you can use the claimant (who has more right to rule than you) to recruit as many lords as possible before ditching them
    4. As a female vassal married to a fellow male vassal, tell them "I am the rightful queen of Calradia!" and with enough right to rule your husband will rebel along with you.
    5. Same as 4, but instead say that your husband should be king. While your husband is technically king, he'll still let you make decisions as if you were queen. This path sucks though, being queen is way better
    6. Be independent, convince a lord with a castle or town to pledge allegiance to you. This is difficult but can give you a big head start with a fully garrisoned fief and a lord on your side

I'm currently doing a playthrough, and I'm very thankful for this because this will only be my second time conquering calradia. Also, you put it into perspective to use both crossbows and archers.
Edit: Another good counter to swadian knights is having your infantry really close together. Usually they will charge with lances but all the lances will do is break the infantry's shields. The horses will be stuck in your square of guys and they'll be cut down.

Would like to point out in the beginning that some starting choices may give you skills towards your desired build. For example I enjoy choosing all the steppe choices available as they give you skill points into riding, that you would otherwise have to spend, regardless of what your agility is. Meaning you get 4 riding with the starting agility of 8, which I think is worth it.

One can put together a pretty good-sized contingent of Slaver Chiefs fairly quickly. Much of the early/mid-game fights are against bandits; often these guys run around with Manhunters as prisoners, sometimes quite a few of them (10+). Keep an eye out on the main map for bandit groups with Manhunter captives, and liberate/hire all the Manhunters you can. The MHs themselves aren't great, but they level up pretty fast. Aside from being good (ok..not "best") heavy cavalry, my favorite part about this unit group is their non-factionality; they don't suffer a morale hit regardless of who you're fighting. I think Slaver Chief is a great complement to an otherwise all-Nord or all-Rhodok army. Their cost doesn't seem too terrible either, compared to the Caravan/Mercenary group.

That area is the breadbasket of Calradia. Later on when youre rich you won't have to be as picky with food prices and can buy out the entire food stock of entire towns but this can be useful in the early game

One slight note: If you want to equip the very best bow; which is the warbow with the I think "masterful" it's called modifier; that has a power draw requirement of 7; thus you need 21 strength as well. So yes, if you are like me and want to strive for the best of the best and want to potentially equip EVERY single item, you would need 21 strength.
Also on the matter of money I would like to add one thing; the thing that single-handedly gives you the most cash reliably, by FAR, is raiding villages. If you raid a village of a nation you are at war with; the only downside is that certain companions dislike it and I suppose for roleplay reasons if you want to be the "good guy". You do not lose honor if you are at war with the nation you are raiding against; only if you do it at peace time! I have tried it with a few villages and each time the loot sold for at least 4000 to 5000, I think once close to 8000 gold. Because this tiny village apparently had spices, velvet, seven units of dyes and it goes on and on with other stuff.
Winning tournaments with the standard "odds against you" and betting max gold every time gives you close to 4000, but you need to find a tournament. Another thing, keep enemy lords as prisoner for as long as possible during war; I got a ransom offer for 1700 gold once, and another one for 7000. Yup, that's right, 7k right there. It's very RNG heavy; the lord might escape or you might not get an offer until the war ends, so it's not reliable. I am not the biggest fan of selling prisoners, since you would need to put many points into prisoner management. I tend to put two points or so, just to keep lords. Win against sea raiders (or weaker bandits before that), take everything that's worth 100 gold or more, leave the rest and repeat. If you don't take out the sea raider landing, there will be bands of them around all the time; I literally never saw the area around the landing free of them, no matter how often I killed them over and over again. With the inventory full off 100+ gold items, go to a city and sell it off, then repeat. You make enough to completely drain the merchant's money, which should be around 8000 fairly quickly; then you move on.

2:09:28 Low right to rule causing kingdoms to declare war on you is a disproven myth. The M&B wiki states "Right to rule has no impact on whether or not other factions declare war on you in Warband." The one thing right to rule does is make it possible to recruit lords to your faction (they will outright reject if it is too low) and beyond that point makes the "I should be ruler because of my claim" argument stronger.
In the code, the reasons for kingdoms declaring war are: personal emnity (low relation/honor), reclaiming old lands, suffering a provocation, curbing power of the strongest kingdom, and the strongest kingdom declaring war on one of their neighbors in a bid to conquer all of Calradia. 3 (emnity, reclamation, provocation) are blocked if the kingdom is weaker than the target kingdom. Often new player kingdoms are declared war upon simply because they are weak, not because of the low right to rule

Another great tip would be to pick a faction to hate on, basically a faction you know you won't join or side with; also make sure you don't care to recruit from their troop tree for the entire playthrough.
Then go ham on them; loot their villages, steal cattle, ambush lords etc. This way you don't have to worry about bad relations and can grow much faster by milking them as a cash cow. I suggest kingdoms like the Swadians because of their horrible central positioning which makes them an easy target.

1:36:33 To avoid the morale penalty from using troops to fight against their own homeland you can stick them in a castle/town garrison (morale penalty doesnt apply to garrison troops and they still help contribute to the defense) and wait a while for it to go down, or you can keep them there until you make peace and fight with someone else

the only thing new players need to keep in mind is that constantly recruiting new soldiers is the most important thing you can do when you own a fief with a garrison. it has nothing to do with defending your fief, it has to do with expanding your conquest. you need to have so many tier i recruits sitting in your garrisons to prevent lords from taking your fiefs it is insanity. after a while you will be best pals with your king, thats your chance to amass big city fiefs for you to defect later with some loot. because your king is your big pal, he'll give you anything you want, as long as you are not a marshall filled with controversy i suppose. because the most efficient way to conquer is to get yourself a bunch of rhodok sharpshooters and about 50 swadian knights to protect them, you will be needing a ton of recruits of your own to garrison EVERY FIEF YOU CONQUER. it is much easier to do this when you are a king, but suit yourself.
also the easiest way to defend your fief when it is being attacked by a large army is to have a full party of swadian knights. go to the field and destroy all of them there with minimal losses. it is much easier and faster then defending a siege, and actually it is safer too, as you will only lose a max of a couple swadian knights. also use your brain: this outcome wont really happen if the enemy has 2000 and you only have 100, even with level 15 tactics that won't really work well. so first, try to wait for the night, try to lure some of them way, divide and conquer. also helps to constatly destroy their parties, never letting them regrow. but again i've been on a year long war with the khergit and the sarranids so i had plenty of time to run them down sufficiently as it is a cake walk with swadians.

Thank you so much I know I am little, well really late but thank you for this I now went from there have no idea what I am doing to beast I defeated 400+ nords with 82 men in my army I almost cried when I saw that army and they were catching up to me but once I got there I realized I thought of what you said and I sat far away and put my cav far away and let my arrows do the work and I freaked out when I did that because I defeated like 5 to 6 powerful lords but unfortunately I didnt capture any lords because my prison train was full and I was pissed and happy at the same time. Thank you so much 😊

Greateat M&B guide ever made, I believe. I will be trying it out today 😁 the big mistake i've been making is to keep a "clean" army, so only one faction. But it didn't work.

Lol i love how annoyed you got about the food. I feel you bud. I think this guide is for people who have 20-30 hrs in game and are trying to figure out how to get to late game. If you ever decide to do another one of these, do it off stream i think.

To new players this guide is pretty accurate although it's long, if your interested in this game, this guy is just foaming from the mouth of information in wining this game with minimal effort but with maximum time " in my opinion". BUT if this seems a little to much to take in and your just trying to chill and play with minimal brain damage my best advice in a super basic terms is NORDS ARE THE BEST. So your best bet is just join the NORDS as a mercenary enough time to make friends and hit right to rule gets to desired amount "mine was 37" then just start hitting the swads like there some bastard step child with good nord troops until they are basically wrecked then start taking there lands for your self and when there wiped for the map start taking there lands from the original start and go from there. This has personally worked for me no prob in 200 days on this game so I'm guessing like 8 hours of actual game play maybe 10.
    Good luck out there sire.
    Or king.
    What ever tf you are.

I just got the game & I didn't really have much success during my first 3 playthroughs so I started over very early in the game. My 4th & current playthrough I immediately brought Lezalit on board, filled my army with Nords(Infantry only), Swadians(Calvary/Knights) & Rhodoks(Sharpshooters/Sargents) & invested my points & Lezalit points into the training skill. Won a ton of tournaments also. By the time I started my own kingdom my rtr was around 27, had around 28k denards & my troop limit was 88. I was a mercenary for the Rhodoks, ended my contract & attacked the Swadians since they were at war with the Rhodoks, Nords & Vaegirs. I had to move quickly because the Rhodoks took Praven & Viyncourd castle. Vaegirs took Dhrim & the Nords took 2 castle's near their territory. Swadians were easy because they were at war with so many factions but after that, things got a bit difficult for me.

I was doing ok without the guide, but I did learn something very important I didn't know how to use, and that was to use missile troops in a siege attack, then retreat and do it over and over again, it makes conquering towns and castles so easy and smooth. I was taking so many casualties before learning this. Was a big game changer for me. SImply because I didn't realize you could do that with minimal negative impact. I thought you would take a massive morale hit, but it's the opposite, you actually gain morale because you are getting more kills than casualties.
